Speaking of changing the map. Is there something preventing new regions being "found"?

No. Even if they don't go this route, there's some speculation on the DUST side that new areas are going to be found. I wouldn't be surprised.

And while i could see Gonzales pulling that sort of silliness, i would hope the current team is above it.

The Amarr have an entire border with the Gallente if they want to shake things up.

My sentiments exactly. :P Amarr RPers can be too moderate in their religious fervor sometimes... even those who are really devout? Where are the terrorist types who behave and talk like Space Marines?

Because in the modern political context, talking openly about Reclaiming through arms and conquest is pure suicide.

Even hardliners that truly believe in that live in modern times, not in middle age. They will wait patiently for the right time. They will not launch stupid crusades that just make them look like the obvious threat to everyone else in the cluster. They will probably more use canny rhetorics and show themselves to be above all blames. They will only use the mistakes of others to retaliate through actual, justified Reclaiming.

You probably have never been religious before. I have - I was once a Baptist zealot in the form of a youth pastor, and when religion places itself above reason in the human mind, everything becomes possible as long as they believe that God is on their side. Because really, why wouldn't God be on their side, since they are Reclaiming (x people) in the name of His Glory?

While there are no doubt practical hardliners, there are always going to be this small group of crazies who will do crazy shit in the name of God, regardless of the circumstances in the reality they live in because God is their reality.

There's a difference between being religious and a brainless fanatic...

Davlos still has a point, though removed from his arguement it may be. I personally would enjoy seeing some more proper zealots. Hardliners might understand it is 'pure suicide', but Amarr still needs some more Zealots. Think about it. It fits in relatively well with EVE's extremist gray-spectrum.

Caldari have Templis Dragonaurs, the extremist Provists.
Gallente have U-Nat, the extremist Nationalists.
Minmatar have whatever they call the revenge group (DESTROY ALL AMARR), the extremist Freedom Fighters.
Amarr have zealots, the extremist Hardliners.

So, let's see more of them! They make for interesting storytelling. :3

They rather tend to make for "NO U" arguments in my experience.

"DIE SLAVER DIE"
"NO U"
"RECLAIM ALL THE SLAVES"
"YARRR"
"YARRR"

Not that it's a bad characterization, it's the result which is often... underwhelming.

Indeed. I find that while the extremists tend to put ships in space more often than the moderates, they lack complexity of argument, since they have no need to compromise or reason. Pure emotional defense and stubborn closed-mindedness can make "You are evil BECAUSE you've always been evil" a valid argument.

Get complicated, people! Bullshit your way through logic!

There's also the fact that -playing- those characters is often unenjoyable, because who the hell actually wants to interact with someone like that?

Those are the kind of people whose jaws I would break IRL to make them shut up if I couldn't just ignore them. Why would it be any different in EVE?

Morwen's Law:
1) The number of capsuleer women who are bisexual is greater than the number who are lesbian.
2) Most of the former group appear lesbian due to a lack of suitable male partners to go around.
3) The lack of suitable male partners can be summed up in most cases thusly: interested, worth the air they breathe, available; pick two.

My point has not been that there can't be Amarrian rambling, frothing from the mouth Reclaimers. My point is that I don't agree with Davlos way of thought that went somewhat into the direction of "really religious people leave reason behind them and are quality material for terrorists and the likes".

Really, I think if you're doing religion like that, you're doing it wrong. After all, Anselm of Canterbury's credo was "credo ut itelligam" not "credo ut non intelligam". And similar things are true for all the great theologians.

And Amarr has those extremists. Have had them for a long time.

Also many of the more reasonable sounding Amarrians are just as "god wills it" as the cat picture.

Mostly though, attacking an ally who owes Amarr money now would be stupid.

Patience is a pretty over developed Amarrian virtue, even among the extremists.

With the latest Chron, it seems unlikely now unless it's some crazy scheme by the Other. Yay!

Very true.

And I'd say that Amarrians tend to be very self-policing. That guy who came into the Summit and said that the Ray of Matar's death was the will of God got both threatened with a ban and had other Faithful pop out of the woodwork to object.
