YC 117 New Eden Capsuleer Writing Contest

Repost here for those who dont read the IGS.
We had a lot of entries last year and I hope to see more this year!

***************
In light of the successful contest last year I am pleased to announce a new writing contest for stories or poems by Capsuleers .

This year's contest will be co-judged by Ayallah and Silver Night ) and Holy Mother Alizebeth Amalath. All three judges will judge all three categories (as outlined below).

There is no minimum length. Maximum length is 30,000 words. There is no required subject matter; the content may be fiction or non-fiction. All entries will be considered. Submissions are to be made by posting on Eve Forums - Eve Fiction. Your post should specifically reference at the outset that it is being submitted for consideration in the YC 117 New Eden Capsuleer's Writing Contest. If you have a good reason why you want to make a private submission, then contact me privately as to why.

Deadline for submissions is October 30th of this year.

Winners will be announced at the a special gala on November 28th at 20:00 at the Golden Masque (Thank you Morwen Lagann!).

The contest into has three categories Poetry, Prose, Non-Fiction (News/Treatises/Etc.) with five awards for each.
1st; 350 million
2nd; 250 million
3rd: 200 million
4th: 75 million
Honorable Mentions: At Judge's Discretion - 20 million isk

Winners will be invited to give a reading at the Holy Grape in Emperor Family Station in Amarr (depending on length, the reading may be limited to selected excerpts..

With respect to Silver Night, his favorite also gets to have tea with him.

With respect to Holy Mother Alizebeth Amalath, she will provide a home cooked dinner with her famous cheese cake for desert to her favorite.

As the judges, Ayallah, Silver Night, Holy Mother Alizebeth Amalath and I (as administrator) are disqualified.

All entries will be considered.

if the quality of the entries does not merit the number of prizes, then prizes will be given up to the number deemed meritorious.

if people have any questions or need rulings, I am the contest administrator and you can feel free to message me directly.

The most "amusing" or "entertaining" to me gets treated to a candlelit dinner by me at a fine restaurant

((All submissions are expressly subject to the TOS and we certainly do not claim ownership. The submission of course, however, must be yours.

Note for ISD - This is specifically an In Character/Roleplay thing - a writing contest to be done by characters, not the players. The expectation is the submissions, whether 'fiction' or 'non fiction' would be in character to the capsuleer submitting it and people will have rp as part of the process. ))

Pleased to see so many contributions. :)

Everyone is a winner for putting in the effort in my eyes. Alas, only few can actually get a prize.

Please note that the submissons are linked in above if you want to read them.

Each winner will receive the ISK prize listed in the OP.
First place winners also received a commemorative medal. It is a round golden medal with a portrait of Saint Aloysius of the Quill and a library. A legend is emblazoned on the medal "YC 117 New Eden Capsuleer's Writing Contest - First Place"

In addition, the following special prizes were awarded:

To the favorite writer of Silver Night , he invited over to tea: Ibrahim Tash-Murkon

To the favorite writer of Alizebeth Amalath, she invited over to a home cooked meal and cheese cake: Bel Boma

To the favorite of Ayallah:

Ayallah stated as follows:
"I am no great critic of writing or grammar but by far the piece that stirred in me the most emotion was Longshank II's."
"His poem reminded me of those I used to read of great battles in the past and for that I have submitted his piece to the ministry of war. Per their approval it will be engraved on the Aeon-class supercarrier Huola upon her completion in YC 119."
"To forever stand as a representative of the conflicts that took place there."

And last, this year one writer made me laugh. I offered a candlelit dinner to whoever did that. I read the poem before I saw who wrote it. The winner of a candle lit dinner, with myself, at a restaurant of her choice is Synthetic Cultist.

It was fun, a lot of good content was created and I thank everyone who participated.

I thank also Morwen Lagann for the use of the Golden Masque and Norrin Ellis for his donation towards the prize pool.

Sorry I had to bail at the last minute. Emergency family stuff came up at the last minute on Thursday and I had to do about 8.5hrs of driving on Sunday as a result.

Glad things went well.

Morwen's Law:
1) The number of capsuleer women who are bisexual is greater than the number who are lesbian.
2) Most of the former group appear lesbian due to a lack of suitable male partners to go around.
3) The lack of suitable male partners can be summed up in most cases thusly: interested, worth the air they breathe, available; pick two.

:( did the best I could to cover USA/EU and that was still hard for people on the margins of each timezone. And of course there's the opposite side of the World.

I'd be happy to send you a log if you want.

You also should have gotten your prize as I finished prose last night!

(why did evil CCP put the "give money" and "bounty" slots right next to each other when you right click on people to give money?" Almost put a 350 million bounty on Jennifer starfall! :( )

Last loose end!

Updated contestant work's list to include the formerly private submissions of winners and honorable mentions Lyn Farel, Seraphim Risen and Literia. I am very pleased they agreed to share their work.

Prizes have all been given out and that ends YC 117's contest.

Thanks again to all who participated or helped!
