I know. As I said, I'm not apologising for him, I think he's a right prick. I was just stating that he was intoxicated on a level rivalling Bacchus.

Except that on one case you're painted by Rubens (1):

And in the other you're filmed by a smartphone.

O tempora, o mores, etc.

(1) ok, it's not Bachus, It's Silene. But still.

In the ancient times of Bacchus, he'd have been punished harder for not only asking people to drive someone to commit suicide, but beyond that getting recklessly drunk to a level where he'd ask people to drive someone to suicide.

You'd think they'd be able to provide you with details about how and when they made the determination that you were supposedly operating a hack.  You'd also think they would have flagged your account for further watching to see if there was any other sort of bad activity.

But honestly I can't say that I'm surprised by this.  I'm in literally the same boat as Ava.  I had someone harassing me constantly in game, threatening me with actual physical harm, and they even sent me information about my billing and support interactions with Dell.  That last bit scared the holy hell out of me because it showed that they actually had my name and address.  So I forwarded all the harassing and threatening in-game mails to the two separate GMs that ended up involved when I reported this guy.  He's on my watch list, as are some of his alts that he contacted me on after I blocked him, and he's still perfectly active in game.

CCP is never going to give details on how they catch people who have been modifying the client like this (Not speaking about you here, Lasa.  I'm assuming you're not guilty and this is a false positive).  The same way they don't tell you how they catch you using a bot.  If they let you know how they do it, or even provide any information other than "We know you did it, you are banned", they give out information that could help the botters build a better bot.

Personally I am not so convinced by the security by obscurity philosophy. It doesn't seem to work very well for Microsoft does it?

Yeah, I just want concrete proof that I was using this hack. If it was a one time thing, why would I have used it once? Wouldn't it be something I would use consistently?

I dunno, I filed another petition saying I was feeling stuck with my first one, being that it's been 7 days that anyone has said ANYTHING to me  :bash:

What is to gain by giving out the information?

Another small update: heard back from ccp. He thanked me for my patience and would be getting back to me shortly. I kinda see this as a good sign because he could have told me outright that there was no way I was getting lasa back and she was banned forever. Continuing to keep my fingers crossed.

I want to say thank you to everyone that has listened to me moan and been there with words of support. You all have been amazing and kept me sane.  :cube: :cube: :cube:

Yeah I can't see why you'd get the hammer if you're telling the truth. Your guy didn't install anything wonky, even for his own games. Plus, you're sure no one else uses your laptop (i'm sure you asked him if he did), and you can't find any latent keyloggers/virus. Must be a mistake in names.

If it WAS your character, that might mean you got hacked, as stated before. Maybe CCP can check for IPs logged and see where there are inconsistencies? I mean if the last 100 logins were from an American IP address, and there were 2 right before your ban located somewhere in Romania, I'd say that's a good piece of evidence for your case :p

Anyway, good luck!

The problem is that getting hacked is probably not what happened in this case.  It is a client side modification, so this would mean that whoever hacked her would have to gain remote access to her computer, and then install a little patch to her EVE client which simply changes it so that autopilot = 0km.

So this is likely a case of false positives.
