Mass Protests + "Watch what they do, not what they say" = Mass Unsubs
The funny thing is it's definitely had an effect outside of EVE.  Developers working for Cryptic no longer say, "if you don't like it, you can vote with your wallets," on a daily basis on the STO forums.  8)
You mean they figured out that at some point the customer has other things they can spend money on?
...which is why it's going free to play.  Zing!

Why do people keep spelling his name 'Hellmar'? Is it a legitimate variation on Hilmar, or is it an insult?

IIRC, his actual name is Hilmar, his CCP name is CCP Hellmar.   It's entirely possible that I'm wrong, but taht's what I recall seeing.

I'm beginning to think the Jita Protests might just have saved Eve :)

I thought it was the Amarr Protests that did it.

God took notice...  ;)

Well, they said a while ago that they knew that Establishments wouldn't be ready in time for the Winter expansion. I highly doubt they have totally stopped work on those for the long-term.

The brick wall on Incursion that CCP seemed to be running into even 6 months ago (we were talking about this back then, and I never heard about a breakthrough in addressing it) was scalability on these carbon characters. Stress on CPUs/GPUs was a lot higher than expected, even with only one avatar and one environment. When they put 3-7 such avatars in a room, serious problems would result.

I honestly believe that, despite lots of work with the NVidia folks, CCP simply have not found a way around this.

As such, they have to abandon establishments and the like until they figure it out. Quick! Apologize and restructure our expansion plans!

Pretty much sums it up.  FiS ran really quick on my old computer at full settings, WiS slowed to a crawl.

You know, at this rate I'm going to have see someone over what CCP/EVE is doing to me. They keep earning my trust back, then curbstomping it into a bloody pulp, earning it back...

I'm just looking forward for the next 'I told you so'-moment.

I'm a bastard that way.

What lag? Haven't seen any in quite a while. Granted in my corner of space there aren't massive blobs to cause node deaths. vOv

Strictly speaking, server-side lag seems to be at an impressive low. Militia's recently had a few good fights that, during Dominion/Incursion, would have reduced us all to feverish twitching, occasionally poking our guns to see if they'd fire now or suddenly finding ourselves in warp ~30 AU away.

Clientside is more or less what it always was (i.e., turn off your effects, 'splosions, and zoom way, way out).

What is noticable now is how much ping has an effect on gameplay. I can't tell you how many times we've lost perfectly reasonable kills because people's mods wouldn't activate for that microsecond after you hit them or the locking took just 1 second longer than it should have.
