We've known about it for awhile, they announced it at a fanfest two years ago I think.

I'm looking forward to seeing what they do with it, and hoping it isn't a letdown.

I do not hold my breath.

Especially since they will probably play on very low budget for a scify title.

Well, maybe we will get a new firefly, who knows...

I don't have much hope though, but I really want them to prove me wrong.

Scott Free are involved, so it looks like this may well happen at some point. I'm rather interested to how it turns out. I do hope they don't make capsuleers the main characters though.

Agreed. IMO that'd be the fastest way to failure. Capsuleers really aren't the most engaging of protagonists. Antagonists, on the other hand...

Morwen's Law:
1) The number of capsuleer women who are bisexual is greater than the number who are lesbian.
2) Most of the former group appear lesbian due to a lack of suitable male partners to go around.
3) The lack of suitable male partners can be summed up in most cases thusly: interested, worth the air they breathe, available; pick two.

It could be ten times more dramatic to have baseliners having at some point to face the dreadful passage of a capsuleer in space. That would picture what we often lack ingame: baseliners being at the total mercy of demi gods.

My guess, it will be about capsuleers, i.e. the players.  Almost no one beyond the people on this forum cares about the baseliners and the world they inhabit.  Any financial backers will want to know that there is a potential audience of tens of thousands of players hoping to see their toon put on the small screen.

I think you might be right, but I also think that would be a terrible mistake.

You don't run a tv show with only the population of eve online (and probably not the whole population either, not everyone is going to watch it or know about it). And that population is even shrinking and shrinking now...

You would ideally want millions in terms of audience. And I think your average scify fan or just anyone will probably care a lot more about baseliners that have lore and stories to back them rather then capsuleers...

Not to say that I don't want to see capsuleers. They are a fundamental part of New Eden.

Confessing that every time the subject of an EVE series is mentioned, I hope my char can be seen sub-warp racing in one of the episodes.

Eve is of a sort of sci fi scale that will be pretty awful on a television budget, and they aren't going to get a proper production budget on a property like this.

Honestly imo best thing for them that will actually make money is animated/cgi series using the same sort of voice acting and cgi from the story trailers.  They already have the assets and animators, or can pay for a good studio to do that work.

I will be physically shocked if this actually gets made.

Then again, I said that about the WoW movie, so who knows.

As long as they don't fire Duncan Jones and start over from scratch AGAIN I suppose that the WoW movie might happen someday...

At least it's refreshing to see that they care about what they do with their license on the big screen...
