[Character] Arnulf Ogunkoya
« on: 21 Apr 2010, 15:40 »

Born 5th February 87 at Republic Fleet Logistic Support station Amamake VI, Moon 5.

Father: Jero Ogunkoya (Then Sgt Major, now Captain having received a feild comission just after Arnulf's entry to RMS) Republic Fleet Marine Corps.
Mother: Freya Morgens.

His parents divorced when he was aged 11. Freya was tired of constantly trecking from base to base and was on the verge of a promising career in Urban Management's ex-slave resettlement branch. What also didn't help was her high-clan origins and Jero being an ex-slave and less interested in the Tribes than the Fleet. Jero went on to remarry Nonye Ogunkoya and by that union Arnulf has a half brother, Asvard.

Arn went on to be initiated into his mother's clan and tribe. He received the mark of the fire serpent, near the heart. The mark itself indicates loyalty to home but also destruction. The placment indicates a passionate nature. This manifested in his choice of academy when genetic testing flagged him as a candidate for the capsuleer program. His mother woud rather he had gone to RUS and his descision to atend the military school was a source of friction between them. They where reconciled however before she died of a stroke in January of 109 (she was hiking in the Pator interior at the time and was too far from a medical facility to survive).

Arnulf grew to be a typical Sebiestor in appearance. The only sign of his father's Brutor ancestry is that he has slghtly darker skin tone than is the norm for Sebiestors. He tends towards practical clothing in muted colours. He is usually armed, except where custom or law requires otherwise. Armament is usually a matched pair of fighting knives and a pistol of some kind. He is quite serious about keeping physically fit, and is a proficient martial artist.

When out of pod and not buried in paperwork Arnulf likes to keep up with current developments in the cluster's archeological community. He is also interested in comparative theology. His own religious beliefs are animist in nature however, like a lot of the traditionalists amonst his people.

More to follow. If you want to know anything in particular then ask. If nothing else coming up with the answers will help him become more of a distinct person in my thoughts.

Some thoughts about where I'd like to go with this character.

Arnulf got a traditional Matari education and initiation from his mother's clan. However his early life was as a station brat on Fleet stations. Therefore he has some non-traditional attitudes, largely picked up from his father. It would be nice to explore this without turning into a huge angst-fest and condemnation excercise.

He is quite intellectual given half a chance. However in a set of IC interactions that largely seem to revolve around bars and nightspots there doesn't seem to be much scope for that. On a side note to this where would the best place be to pick up as much canon information as possible on the older spacegoing cultures of the cluster (Sleepers/Talocan etc)?

Talk to Matariki Rain, you may profit. That is, if you haven't already.

Nikilaiki was doing a thing on this, I think?
