Here's what mum originally posted. Some of them are relevant, detailing the relationship/history of Miyan and Darabi, and also the way that Holders plot against each other.

Off the top of my head, I think theres:
Holders plot and scheme against each other a lot.
Some minor holders don't own any planetary estates, only space outposts.
Marriages are a way to advance.
Holders occasionally hire mercenaries in their schemes.
Handing over planets as forfeit when scheming fails, happens on occasion.

Navy veterans are occasionally granted estates.
