"Cribs" - EVE Edition
« on: 16 Mar 2013, 13:36 »

This is a thread to show off the unique, exotic, customized, expensive, or expansive homes or locations of your ultra rich capsuleers. Post your 'crib' in a quote box, or in italics or something so it's easier to read. :3

Quote from: Katrina's Estate
New Caldari V (Oniteseru), Osmon Mountainrange
Private Estate of Katrina Oniseki
4,000ft (1220m) above sea level ...  2°F (-16°C) outside the barrier fields

The landing pad guests arrive on is built onto a rock outcropping, dusted with snow and whipped by the mountain winds. Though the surrounding atmosphere outside the protective barrier fields is extreme, the platform only endures tempuratures slightly below freezing. The heated tarmac prevents ice buildup, and there is plenty of lighting to guide guests to the former monastery.

Automated gatling rail turrets scan the skies, and squads of Arctic Warfare Marines bearing the I-RED logo patrol the grounds. Security is both assertive and tight. Before approaching the main entrance all visitors would be ID'd by a large Achuran man by the callsign of "King", apparently the head of security.

Inside, a second set of barrier fields keeps back the remaining cold, leaving the interior of the house a comfortable 65°F (18°C). The upper part of the house is fairly sparse, with hardwood floors, traditional Deteis artwork and ornate Civire rugs. Modern amenities are not readily visible here, but are present, usually in a hidden form of one way or another. There are plenty of rooms, most like the last with only changing decoration. Several guest rooms exist with plush and comfortable beds and empty dressers to store clothing.

In the main hall, a blazing fireplace is kept lit at all times, occasionally fed with actual wood that gives the room the scent of a real wood fire. In front of this fireplace rests a massive circular mattress sunken into a matching pit in the floor. It is lined with pillows of all shapes and sizes, and dressed with plenty of blankets. A steady ambient meditative music and the smell of lightly scented candles fills the air, and ample seating provides plenty of places to relax. Various holographic imagery gives soft light to the room in the form of fluttering white songbirds. A fully stocked tea bar is nearby, with literally almost every type of traditional and contemporary Caldari tea available.

In the main tower of the former monastery, there is a private room at the top for Katrina to stay in, one of two in the whole Estate. Unlike the other, it's rather exposed to the outside. A large bed dressed in warm fur and cotton covers dominates the room, along with a dresser, desk, and other decor.

The scarcity of objects one might expect in a home gives hint to the existence of the lower levels, which house a majority of the estate under the mountain.

Underneath the former monastery lays a sprawling complex dug directly into the solid rock of the mountain. Built only in a few weeks, the complex is an easy reminder of the Caldari skill in building and mining. With solid titanium metal floors, ample blue-white lighting, full climate control, and even aesthetically exposed rock walls in some areas, it leaves no doubt to the mind that this is an underground home.

The rooms are plenty and spacious, offered for many various uses. Some of the areas serve entertainment such as a billiards room, gym & weights, full size swimming pool, ball court, and even a home holotheater. Other rooms house staff and supply the complex; such as an armory, barracks, medical bay, firing range, buffet style cafeteria (stocked with very high quality foods), and an underground hangar with launch tubes. For Katrina, there is of course a private kitchen, bath, and bedroom, though nobody but her may access that part of the complex without being invited.

A full security detail patrols the complex along with paid staff to maintain the facility. A doctor heads up the medbay, trained to treat Capsuleers. A full team of chefs regularly cook for the massive buffet, serving delicacies and common food alike from around the cluster. Various AI-bots fill in some of the lesser desired positions such as custodial duties. The whole complex above and below is powered by a frigate grade aneutronic fusion reactor, with a fully self sufficient air and water purification system. Most of the lowest level, besides the reactor and water processing plant, is simply a collection of storage rooms for frozen and refrigerated foodstuffs, dry goods, bulk supplies, fuel, and spare parts.

Kat's home. Takes up two channels for the surface level and underground level.

Quote from: Katrina's Tengu
Tengu class Strategic Cruiser, "Karakkaze"

There are three Level V Secured areas aboard Katrina's vessel. The Lobby, The Gallery, and The Bedroom.

The Lobby is the first area available to visitors. Sprawling banks of holographic displays and control input stations line the tech filled walls. The floor is mostly a reinforced grating, underneath which are yet more control access points for Katrina. There are a number of chairs available, mostly in front of those consoles. In the center of the room is a large cylindrical beam of light. When Katrina is jacked into the Capsule, a holographic image of her body is projected there. Right now, it's blank.

The Gallery is a room built very much the same way as her other ship's bedrooms are, with glossed black surfaces and massive false window-walls that display the deep night sky outside. Refreshments and comfortable minimalistic seating is readily available, and a heating unit disguised as brilliant white holo-fire burns and flickers in the center of the room. A circular couch snakes around the virtual bonfire, with all sorts of strange shapes to the pillows to support fun and relaxation in countless positions. Even the floor around the fire is actually just one giant cushion.

The Bedroom is much more comfortable. Nestled deep within the ship, the soft thrum of the graviton reactors can easily be heard. Behind hidden panels in the softly curving black glossed walls, compartments for showering, food, clothing, medical supplies, and even a small armory can be found. The ultra-luxurious bed dominates the room, with advanced and expensive custom Capsuleer amenities at the walls.

The decks are patrolled at all times by shipboard marines, trained in close quarters combat and defense of critical areas of the ship. A small detachment of highly mobile and flexible Caldari Light Marines guards the captain, Katrina, at all times. Often waiting outside the secure rooms, they are the only crew authorized to enter if Aura determines Katrina is in danger.

Welcome to the Karakkaze. Welcome to Cold Wind.

Katrina's Tengu. I intend to write unique descriptions for the other three Tech 3 cruisers, but haven't gotten around to it yet, so this is the only one so far.

Quote from: Katrina's VR
As your connection stabilizes to the virtual area, you can see it is built in quasi-traditional Caldari style. Making use of the virtual space, the architecture is built in a way that would be impossible or unreasonably expensive in reality. The room is quite literally a large space without walls bordered by the black ink of space. If you stepped 'off the edge', you might think you'd just fall into space and float away.

Looking out at a cluster of boiling lava planets, shimmering storm worlds, and looming ringed gas giants in the distance, the room is filled with planetary lighting. Speckled between the planets are various gas clouds, sleeper constructs, and asteroids of both rare and common ores. A brilliant light source shines far in the distance behind it all. Sometimes it's just a normal or binary star of varying sorts. Sometimes it's a magnificent black hole with accretion disk. Other times it's a pulsar, or a magnetar. The occasional starship silently looms in the distance at sublight speeds as if enjoying the scene. It's always a replica of a starship Katrina owns.

There in the center of the room is a single black leather recliner for Katrina. There isn't much else in the way of seating around here, though more chairs can be summoned at will. The soft thrums and chimes of Caldari ambient music can be heard. It's not much, and only really audible when there's nobody talking. It seems to accent the natural sounds of the surrounding celestial phenomena well.

Kat's VR, used for FTL communication without having to meet unsafely in person.

Here is a prat of my collection.

Thorolfur's Office

The VR Office domain of Thorolfur H. d'Winter is a spherical room whose wall is one immense view screen.
On this view screen feeds from GalNet and IGS as well other information sources throughout the cluster can be seen, as well endless amounts industry and market data.
Hovering in the exact centre of this chamber is a platform on which a VR representation of Thor's desk and throne of office can be seen.
((As well as Thor if he happens to be using the chamber.))

Access to the channel is subject to Thor's will at any given moment.
((Though those who request IC convo's with Thor can assume that said convo is dealt with in the office if Thor opens the link, which due to having my coms set block those no my contacts list.
As stated in my bio: “I do not take convo's (eve-mail first)”))

There are other places that might count as cribs of Thor's, such as the House Winter fortress citadel on Malkalen V or his private Estate in Goram IV, but those I haven't setup as channels. It is also highly unlikely that Thor would invite anyone there.
In case of the City, know as “The Iron-Tower of Malkalen”, the reason Thor rarely invites people there is the forbidden city mentality House Winter's People.
In the case of his Estate on Goram, he simply doesn’t like to share it with other, its his place to be alone.

Just for the record, this thread can't be used for IC things in ANY way right? Like at all? Not even a hint? I only ask because the last thing I need is someone having a road map to my icey island.

Always assume that people will use stuff you post IC, there are some people that have no respect for OOC disclaimers.

Quote from: Apartment 0348761-AA
Rhia's studio apartment is sparsely furnished, and not just because its on a Caldari station. There's very little that wasn't either provided with purchase of the apartment (and thus severely utilitarian) or bought at the station's cheapest store. There is little to no decoration to be seen on the walls or on any surfaces, except perhaps a few pieces of clothing or empty food or beverage containers. The only indication of the owner's identity is that a few pieces of clothing on the floor are clearly female. Against one of the walls is a simple desk with a terminal, and a few datapads scattered about it haphazardly. A large bucket of popcorn is sitting to the side of the terminal, half-eaten. It looks like the sort found in holovid theater concessions.

You could always just explain it in different words, leaving out the parts you don't want others to know about. Simply posting the channel description is the quick and easy way.

Corporate values before all: But since we actually really don't go to the HQ that much, there's a virtual room.

Quote from: Aseyakone Lobby
This is a virtual simulation of the front desk of Aseyakone Corporation. The simulation depicts a large round room whose sides are covered with panels displaying news, economical data and corporate marketing. The open space is dominated by an evergreen bush growing in the middle.

On one side, there's a pair of wide glass doors (marked "exit") showing a view to a park. On the other side, there is a gunmetal grey front desk covering roughly one quarter of the total circumference. The desk is decorated by the corporate logo of Aseyakone. Behind the desk, there is a Raata-style painting of a javelin-thrower. The desk is flanked with two doors, the left side one marked "elevator" and the right side one marked "conference room".

The conference room is actually a "real" place, though it supports limited telepresence (assuming someone physically present doesn't disable the feature).
Quote from: Aseyakone Conference Room
This is a conference room on a Caldari station. The walls are made of simple steel sheets. On one end of the hall there is a door marked "exit". The wall opposite to the doors is dominated by a viewport to the docking facilities of a Caldari station, though the traffic seems to be slow. The side walls house a multitude of holographic displays, most of them displaying economic data. In the center of the room there is a large table capable of comfortably seating a score of people on the sides. The viewport end of the table hosts a large chair. More seats are available along the walls. In the roof there is a holoprojector (usually serving as a simple light) on top of each of the chairs around the table.

The table is a large steel structure plated with glass, with a soft plastic band circulating along the edge. On front of each seat there is a small screen. Additionally, there is some kind of a computing device in front of the large seat. There are three holes in the center of the table, housing holoprojectors controlled by device. The projector closest to the viewport is currently displaying a map of the Caldari-Gallente war zone.

Several of the seats have signs in front of them. The large seat at the end of the table is apparently reserved to "Saana Nupuunen". On her right, there are seats for "Axel Kurki" and "Yuhe Hepimeki". On her left side, the seats are for "Marika Obenen" and "Matias Raatamaa".

Saana also has a small apartment to call her own, fit into a standard habitation module for limited mobility. (Description looks funny in the forums, but makes more sense in the channel MOTD.)
Quote from: Saana's Habitation Module
This is a spacious apartment suite, apparently on a Caldari-built station or a habitation module.

Airlock: The apartment is connected to the rest of the station via it's own airlock, despite the entire route being pressurized.

Foyer: The first room after the airlock is a roomy foyer with room for clothes. There are locked doors to the left and right. Opposite the airlock hatch, there is a door to the hall. There is a janitor to welcome any guests.

The hall: The central room of the apartment is a large open space. The wood-paneled side walls are lined with small cabinets and plants. The far wall is covered in stone slabs and decorated with a Raata-style tapestry. There is a simple straw mat on the hardwood floor. There are three doors to the right (two rooms and a bathroom) and a single door to the left (to the dining room). Two doors at each side of the far wall lead to the library.

The dining room: This is a large but simple dining room. The only pieces of furniture are the large table and the chairs surrounding it. At the airlock side, there is a door to the kitchen, guarded by a cook.

The bathroom: The door from the hall leads to a small changing room, which has a door leading to a toilet. The other door leads to a luxurous bathroom.

The library: The far end of the library is lined with shelves full of data storage devices, but the hall side hosts a massive fireplace. There are a few chairs and tables. A few data readers are on the tables. The floor is covered in stone slabs, but feels warm. There is a single door on the both side of the room right next to the doors leading to the hall. The door to the right is just a regular door, but the door to the left side sports an advanced electronical lock.

My first attempt at making a channel for one of my EVE character so theres probably a few mistakes so any tips would be great.  :ugh:

Quote from: Jasmin Soulscreams Penthouse
The landing pad that people arrive on lies atop a towering skyscraper belonging to the Akada Corporation, from the landing pad a clear view of the entire city is available to visiting guests blocked only by neighbouring skyscrapers.

Just beyond the landing pad and leading into the penthouse is a Rock garden. The garden itself consists of a tea house and a sparse collection of blossom trees surrounded by several rocks and carpet of pebbles. Several workers help maintain the garden and attend to any patrons who decide to remain outside.

Inside visitors are stopped at a security checkpoint manned by Security personal bearing the Akada Corporation logo. The guardsmen will remove any unauthorised items and said items are placed in storage for collection upon leaving the building.

Beyond the security checkpoint lays the main living room decorated with ornate wooden flooring, banners bearing the Akada family crest, Oriental Achuran carpets and several large leather couches. The couches surround a large 3d holo projector, which idly scrolls through news reports until given commands. Behind the projector is a large panoramic window, that remains tinted until the 3d projector is deactivated, allows visitors a perfect view of the sun setting over the city.

At the edges of the room are several display cases with various collectable items and personal effects such as several unique crystals, old Achuran scripts and an ornate robe with the Akada family crest in lavish detail on the back. Above several holo projectors can be seen that allow those unable to attend in person visit the building.

Leading off from the main hall are several different rooms including a kitchen, several bedrooms and a study with a vast array of books. One room remains locked to visitors with several different safety locks such as eye and DNA scanners, voice recognition passwords and a key card.

The house is maintained by a small army of employees raging from security details, cleaning staff, technicians, chefs and caretakers which provide various services to the hostess and her guests.

Seems ok. Just one typo I noticed. That should be "holo" projector (short for hologram) rather than hollow.

I don't have a channel, hence no crib (and if I ever did in-game channel RP, I'd be inclined to make up a three-liner based on the context), but this topic made me think about my 'home' for the first couple of years in EVE. I never planned it out in detail, which gives me the liberty to adjust it to my story needs, but over time an outline did form in my mind.

As result, I wrote a post specifically to put that outline into words (it is still fuzzy, but more defined than it was at the beginning), and discovered along the way that Druur is not living in some grand mansion or similar. While her quarters are unaffordable for baseliners, they are still just rented quarters on a station.

You can read the whole post here here, but the salient parts for the purpose of this thread are below. The backstory is that after a long time away, Druur returns to her original 'home', and essentially rediscovers it.

Quote
The elevator moved with a smoothness that belied its speed - if it weren't for numbers on the level display counting down rapidly, you could have thought you weren't moving at all. Even the deceleration as the elevator approached its destination was announced with only the barest of the faintest shudders. You didn't arrive in these elevators, instead you were simply suddenly there.

With a melodious *ding* the elevator door opened, and I stepped out onto the permanent quarters level of this Creodron station. Tastefully designed, subdued decor, plush carpet, an open bar, and again this was just the hallway!

A short walk brought me to the entrance to my actual quarters, the electronic lock glowing a reassuring red. A swipe of my keycard, the color changed to green, and latches disengaging internally. The door recessed a few centimeters, and then slid sideways out of the way with a grace and speed belying its actual weight.

I stepped inside, and the door slid close behind me, moving almost inaudibly on its gears. Triggered by my entrance, the room lighting came on, starting with the fixtures nearest to me, the others following one by one, as if I was standing in an expanding bubble of light.

Technically this staggered activation wasn't necessary, but I had found the effect so cool that I had even added to it the sound of circuit breakers engaging.

The air had the sterile cleanliness of a quarter long unused, modern day air scrubbing having become so effective that unused station quarters were signified by a total absence of dust, not an excess.

I let my gaze wander across the room, taking in its familiar features which I hadn't seen for quite some time. The couch, with the side tables, just in the right position across the viewing screen. My little workplace, terminal dark and quiet, an overturned picture frame next to it. Shelves, now mostly empty, except for a few mementos. A bar unit, currently retracted safely into the wall. Off in a side room, the kitchen, although primarily used to make coffee or tea, or breakfast. A doorway leading to the bedroom. And somewhere one or two other rooms, which I hadn't used much. It's these front rooms where my life had taken place.

Resting a few dozen miles off shore from one of the main continents is the small and tranquil private residence of Korsavius. Massive artificial rocks form a perimeter around the island a few miles off it's coast. In all actuality, these man-made creations make up an advanced anti-air and anti-sea defense system, but to anyone unaware of their true nature, they just appear to be beautiful, natural looking barriers. The island itself is dominated by a small mountain which sits at the southern end, while the northern half of the island remains relatively flat. There are several private cottages for guests spread throughout the island, with the main house located at the center. The weather for the region itself is fairly mild, with a temperate forest surrounding all of the developed parts of the island. Near the main house rests a small orchard forest which hides a small shrine, a place of rememberance and worship to those who follow the Caldari Way.
