And there was much rejoicing....

except for interceptor pilots, who are now going to feel rather hard done by.

Or they can swap to the T1 hulls when possible and save ISK!

No real reason to fly either the MSE rifter or a kiting rifter with that new slasher. Additionally, no reason to fly the claw, or the Sader really (until they re-do those ships).

Hmmm, what can I do with 3/4/2.... lots.

I like it.

Now if only they balance the races a bit more so it isn't Minmatar online.

The frigate balancing thus far has been in exactly the direction you note.

Indeed, have you seen the Dualrep Exile Incursus Yet?

Some of us would rather keep our testicles/ovaries/etc. intact rather than let them explode due to the sheer awesomeness, Milo. :P

3) The lack of suitable male partners can be summed up in most cases thusly: interested, worth the air they breathe, available; pick two.

I cannot wait for this change to conclude. If my mental extrapolations are right, this is going to be a considerable up-gunning of ships I love, yet can never justify flying for business due to crap stats.

Ok so, they continue to do this bit by bit. As much as I am glad they give some love to T1 hulls, now we will get T2 corresponding hulls obsolete ? Whats the point ? They are going to boost up T2 hulls after and make the T1 hulls useless once again ?

When will they learn that escalation leads to nowhere ? If they really want to do something good, they will have to think of the whole, all the ships, together, not class by class.

Where did the AF changes obsolete the rebalanced T1 Combat Frigates - or vice versa?
Specialized hulls are going to be better. It's a bit meh that they're going to rework these T1 hulls without looking at the T2 counterparts in the same process, but the reason for the T1 overwork is not to make the T2 Interceptors useless, it's to make the T1 speedy tackler useable.

They won't learn that because it's not true. I'm unaware of the new Merlin obsoleting the Hawk or Harpy, for example. At this point in time, there's really no good reason to ever fly a Slasher past the tutorial, for example. So a cheap interceptor-like frigate that still doesn't do the job as well as a true interceptor is not a bad choice to make.

An important part of game development is to keep shaking things up enough to give experienced players new things to theorycraft and explore. That's a feature, not a bug.

Just at the moment, the way the market's going, I wouldn't mind seeing the emphasis back on T1 ships for a while. Have them usable, cheap and fun, and save T2s for specific roles where they contribute enough to justify the cost.

Oh yes definitly. This is what I visceraly hate in eve. Some T1 hulls have their own niche/role/specialty (which can just be pretty general), like BCs, BSes. Some others are just completely outclassed by their T2 counterparts, like T1 fast frigates and interceptors for example. A lot of things are completely redondant.

Harpies and hawks are not outclassed by the merlin since the harpy and the hawk have been redesigned. But the merlin is outclassed, though, like a rifter is outclassed by a jag, wolf, etc. Same thing between a crusader and an executionner. Now, they plan to boost the executionner, so it might get better than a crusader. After that, they will probably boost the crusader because it will be the crusader that will take the obsolete role.

So in the end, some T1 hulls still retain their own purpose like a hurricane, a drake, an abaddon, whatever, and other T1 hulls are only good for noobs that can not fly the pimped T2 counterpart, or for FW pilots due to plexes limitations (they had to make sure that T2 variants are not allowed in the same complex class, which is quite telling in itself, like T1 frigs allowed but no T2 frigs because they outclass them).

I am just saying that a lot of the eve gameplay regarding tech 1/2/3 discrepancies does not make any sense to me. And they repeat the same mistakes again and again. If they really wanted a balanced and meaningful combat environnement, they would remove any concept of tech and make everything T1, each ship with a clear and precise role and niche.
