my Ultramarines army...

Fucking poser

j/k in a bit more seriousness, anyone here but me and Isty that DON'T have a marine army/plan to get one?

In my case, I have a sizable High Elf army and plan to get an Eldar army if I ever dabble in 40k.

Been playing 3rd Co Ultramarines for over a decade.  The transition to "gold trim" I thought was silly.

I have had WFB Dwarfs for more than 15 years, worked on it off and on, sorry I don't have any readily available shots.

Shot of all my 40k Armies from early 2006 timeframe.  In the center is a Steel Legion army I completed in 2002, it was stolen in my move from College.  Still have the FW Valkyries and Demonhunters army (need to decide I would field them today).  The Ultramarines have continued to expand squad by squad. I am close to having the full 3rd Co (~10 Marines and 2 Rhinos away), plus various support (20 Scouts w/ LS Tempest, may add 5 Scout Bikers), no Termies or Land Raiders yet.

I did project logs for two Epic:Armegeddon forces Imperial Guard and Orks.

I also wrote an article or two for Warseer Firebase on Epic and BFG.  This fleet I put together for less than $100.

The wife has a High Elf army to work on and once I have gotten the stack of Marine minis out of the way, we are looking at doing a Swordwind Eldar force.

Wow, thats one nice, big collection  :)
I'll give the articles a read when I'm taking my next break from work!

On a personal note, my Hazard XV9 was delivered a week ago and ever since I've been cutting and greenstuffing away at it. Sadly the single weaponry FW does not supply for it is what I'm dead set on using. I'll post some pictures once I'm done sanding down the green stuff. In the meantime here's what an xv9 looks like when it's done and finished. It's quite big, almost 1.5 times as tall as a crisis.

The hazard is a fantastic addition to any tau army. It puts devestating medium / close range weaponry on a survivable (t5) and highly mobile chassis. Not only is it immune to being one-shotted by missile launchers, it can also hit-and-run and has defensive grenades in the unlikely event of being charged. To round it off it occupies the fast attack section (and thus does not cut down on the ammount of crisis suits you can take). The only draw back is that it's expensive, money and points wise.

Contribootin:

and...

Not got the time of money for much WH40K or Fantasy these days, but I couldn't turn down these beauties.  I have a lot of math hammer Necrons ready to roll and a 2.5k Tournament legal Tau army, but they're all packed up since my house move a few months back.

Sweet contributions folks :P

Wow Dex, I wonder how much all of that cost you, :O though I'm happy to see your enjoying the hobby. I hope you can share a few shots of your wife's HE army (I'd love to see it) and who knows, in future maybe we get to see the Eldar Force as well.

Lastly, I'm sorry to hear you got your IG force stolen. Talk about rude little bastard move. How did it even happen that the IG army got stolen but not the rest of your force?

I had put the IG Army (and a bunch of other stuff as well) in storage for the summer between undergrad* and reporting to my first duty assignment.  There was confusion about which storage unit I had apparently and when I came back after the summer, my stuff was all gone and the storage site manager at the time had been fired.  I eventually managed to get back a few things - like 3 years of National Geographic and some rollerblading gear, but not the thousands in gaming stuff, textbooks, and other stuff.

It has cost me a lot, but I started picking up stuff in 1996 and slowly built up.  I spent my weekends in undergrad being a geek (instead of partying) playing D&D, Warhammer, and the ilk.

*I really should avoid using the term college when referring to my undergrad.  My undergraduate education was a very different experience from what most people think of as college.

Next project: completing my 2nd Havoc squad with a 4th heavy bolter I kitbashed together:

The rest of the squad is ancient, from the era when Chaos could only have 3 heavy weapons in a squad - needs touch-ups badly.

edit: nice Necrons!

Best option for Marine AA (and Chaos) seems to be an Aegis line with a quad-gun, and a 5-man devastator/havoc with 4 autocannons, and the sarge/champ manning the quad gun. 12 str7 shots should bring down anything.

That seems to be the goto option.  Might be a fun modeling opportunity as well - actually model up an nice AA emplacement with roughly half the Aegis sections as part of it.  I could go with a Hyperios Whirlwind and model it as the Hunter (from Epic), but that is a Heavy slot gone.

Definitely agree with hellgremlin.  I like the burnished metal vs the standard silver.

Heavy Bolter Havocs

Looks like a classic kitbash for the Heavy Bolters, nicely done.

ok then....

time for my first contribution.. working on getting the rest of my old orc army put back together at the moment. might take some time.

Most of a stompa... only basecoated at the moment, not entirely finished doing that either :P still.. i like how it looks at the moment, with the various plates that make the hull being blatantly formed of different metals and alloys.
Intending to put a bit more colour into it before it's done, perhaps painting some of the plates in recognisable marine colours or imperial guard camo patterns.

will get a better pic soon...  and pose it better so the gutbusta cannon is more obvious.
-Rok

edit : apparently the pic isn't working for others... must just be in my googlecache... will upload it to somewhere else and change the link.

edit 2: uploaded to photobucket and relinked.  the flash on my phone is a little too harsh i think.. makes a lot of it look to shiny.

ok.. same stompa, but i've all but finished the basecoating now, and have (temporarily) put the whole thing together.
so now it has feet... and an engine... and bosspoles. :)

'complete' stompa

head removed so bosspoles are more visible.

Next on the list to redo are the Deffkopta and warbike squadz .... and maybe the Shokk attack gun. always liked those things
