EVE client not working. Holiday imminent
« on: 13 Sep 2011, 14:42 »

So yeah, as indicated in the title EVE is just not working on my PC.  :bash:

When will it be fixed, can it be fixed, I have no idea. I've found nothing useful on the web and am still waiting for word back from tech support.  :psyccp: So for now, N'maro will be taking a long time out, IC reason will probably be thought up on the spot when I get back on.

In any case, if anyone has any idea about why EVE wont work on windows 7 or on a Dell Inspiron 1720 laptop, do share it with me please :)

All I'm getting is "CCP ExeFile is not responding" before even getting to the login screen.

Hopefully see you all soon!

N'maro

Also, I feel I should say that this problem only started after I'd installed a new Operating System on the computer in question.

My laptop had previously been a victim of Windows Vista. Having finally lost patience with it, I decided enough was enough. I bought a copy of Windows 7 and installed it.

Yep, reinstall, completely by the book, uninterrupted, still the same problem

If you don't mind, could you give the specs for you machine?

(Also, in case you haven't already, I reccomend an all-around driver update).

I like the implications of Gallentians being punched in the face by walking up to a Minmatar as they so freely use another person's culture as a fad.

Nmaro,

A couple of blanket things to try with Windows 7, if these don't work, you can always hit me up in email or something, I do technical support for a living so I'll hopefully come up with something eventually.

As stupid as it sounds, sometimes trying to run something in administrator mode fixes the problem.

Also, if you are using a 64 bit operating system, make sure that EVE is installed in Program Files(x86) not Program Files, this tells Windows to run it as a 32-bit application, not a 64-bit one.

Lastly, try loading into safe mode and running it from there, if it works in safe mode, then one of your preliminary programs or drivers is causing a conflict with the program and that's causing it to hang and crash.
