Use of the character creator for RP purposes.
« on: 19 May 2011, 00:57 »

I've been skimming through TEA looking for ideas about the Gallente and got to the part where one of the Gallente interceptor pilots is podded by the elder fleet, and it made me think about how different she was in her new clone. That got me thinking about using the character creator to change our appearance after getting podded(iirc she basically had a shaved head since apparently the new clones don't grow hair till you are in it), or if you get into a fight and get a (facial for the moment) scar. Anyone else thought of this or planning on doing it if the situation arises?

Well, Cia's already got a haircut ... and yes, I certainly intend to use the character creator to reflect changes to my characters.

One of my character's hair is slowly greying due to her increased work responsibilities.

I'm debating having Nikita's hair start to grow longer and longer, and then end up back to bald when she dies. Not sure though.

Yeah I quite appreciate the instant recustom feature :3

When I was gone for 2 weeks, Seriphyn was planetside and decided to grow a beard and not shave. Then the missus didn't like it so he ditched it. Is neat, overgrowing hair and whatnot.

I do suspect that this was one of the reasons for allowing us infinite free recustomization (there are other reasons, some much larger of course, but I don't doubt when they were listing "pros" and "cons" someone scratched "RPers could reflect changes to their character" under the "pros" column).

I like the implications of Gallentians being punched in the face by walking up to a Minmatar as they so freely use another person's culture as a fad.

Ammentio uses sunglasses when he needs to avoid unwanted attention, like when visiting the skyhook etc.

Another toon by the same player ages a lot, when he spends time hammered on the planetside IC, usually for OOC reasons. When he is back in the capsule, he gradually returns back to normal.

Well, until the character keeps the exact same posture when changing something, im not going to change it. Yes, maybe I have a problem, but mine is rested everytime i try to change something (anyway I do not really want to change something atm, but it might happen someday).

Everything about the clone is pretty much fake.

Head bones are plastic, scars are added on, tattoos are added on.

Adding hair on would probably be pretty easy.

I have the same problem, so any minor change would need me to redo the whole pose.

I am also not too keen on changing portraits everyday, because the portrait is what people attach to your charater to identify (with) it.

I hope with Incarna the portrait is a seperate system. I dont want to have to redo my portrait everytime I change my shoes. If it is like this I might use the charater creator in RP, keeping my portrait the same, but altering how I look when out of the pod to reflect different things.

Grae will change a lot when he gets podded.

Oddly, no matter how much combat I seek out, this hasn't happened in over a year.  :s

Anyone else thought of this or planning on doing it if the situation arises?

Essentially, yes. I view the character picture as a "capsuleer license photo", and intend to update it if something happens in the game that would make Isobel want to update her license picture.

And if (when?) there will be better new tattoo options in the future - Isobel's current tattoos are not "right".  I really put them on only because not having any tattoos would look even more wrong - the best of poor options.  Why, oh, why are we supposed to have clan tattoos on the face, and then have only about a dozen different choices? :(
