What happens when you take a ten foot piece of copper audio cable, tie a hunk of steel wool to it, light the steel wool on fire, and twirl it over your head?

That's my girlfriend doing it. The way it works is that the steel wool actually burns and sparks pretty epically, and by flinging it around you throw the sparks and accelerate the reaction. Copper wire is used because it doesn't conduct heat. It isn't completely safe, there's a video, which I'm sure will end up on youtube at some point, of me accidentally hitting myself in the face with the flaming bit of steel wool, and I have minor burns on my cheek from it (nothing serious, don't worry, I've had sunburns hurt worse) and the embers can catch fire. But if you know how to do it carefully, its amazingly fun and beautiful:
