How about 'pilots'?

And you don't have to be self-employed either. I meant, not being intrinsically bound to some megacorporation or npc entity, not necessarily in your own capsuleer corporation.

There are also a lot of options available to a Mordu’s group.   Faction Warfare is obvious: as you move through the StaPro ranks your Legion standing sky rockets though I think this might have more to do with State standings than StaPro standings.  

You get a major bump every promotion.  I'm not sure if it was just based on my faction standing at the time and skills, but my last few promotions got me a 0.5 increase in raw faction standing.  And for some reason, The State seems to like ML more than it like The State.

In my opinion, it is a good in-game angle, in or out of State Pro.

Thanks for all the replies guys. I think Ive settled on the Mordu's Legion angle. Initially I'm probably just gonna use it as character background since I have no idea how to run a corp much less a mercenary one, but we'll see how it goes.
