Bad papercut. Bleeding is a visible marker that triggers an 'injured, got to help him/her out' instinct while toothace is a non-visible, 'stop whining you big baby and go to the dentist' version of the former.

On the subject of injuries, facial damage that costs you an eye and leaves some potentially party-talk'able scarring, or losing a leg in an accident and potentially getting a bionic leg replacement?
