I was thinking about petty Holders in the Amarr Empire, and wondered what these Holdings might actually consist of.
We know, from the Evelopedia, that there is a hierarchy of Holders in the Empire, and that the smallest Holdings might consist of simply a parcel of space. Generally, anyone that owns land on a planet outranks people who don't own land, with the older planets having the most prestige. E.g. someone that owns a small island on Amarr Prime might outrank someone that owns several entire star systems in say Aridia.
So, I was looking at the structures that can be found in space, and how they'd be used on these Holdings.
The smallest Holding, one containing no asteroids or ice asteroids, would consist of the Holder's residence, and not much else.
The residence might be a Habitation Module, or something more prestigious, up to a small station.
There'd be a few other structures, maybe a Solar Harvester, and an Astrofarm or two, both to supply the residence, and to provide some meagre income. There might even be some small manufacturing industry. And to support this, there'd be docking platforms, cargo handling rigs and warehouses. As well as additional Habitation modules for the population needed to work there.
The Holder might not own any ships, or if they do, they might only own a Shuttle or Impairor. Larger ships like a Bestower or Sigil may visit the Holding regularly, or as needed, but aren't stationed there permanently.
A step up from those Holdings, would be those that have asteroids in them. Here, in addition to the structures previously mentioned, there'd be Asteroid mining facilities, and likely more industry. The Holder is more likely to own ships, and may even own a Sigil or Bestower, to support the mining.
There would also be local market towns, where the Holder has several cargo handling facilities, and the settlement functions as a trading post. There'd be ship maintenance and repair facilities, and this marketplace would be where ships would operate from, serving the smaller Holdings.
Up from the local market towns, would be full size stations, such as the ones that capsuleers can dock at. These would have all sorts of local services within them.
