Adreena

While I was struggling with Adreena's bio, my playlist stumbled upon Ashes to Ashes. I thought that was probably what she listens to when she's drunk and mopey. Well, the New Eden equivalent, obviously. I ended with this.

The one she’ll never admit she likes : ABBA, Dancing Queen http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xFrGuyw1V8s

The one she sings under the shower : PJ Harvey, 50 ft Queenie http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jKLiU7Hq93w

The one she listens to at night : Tom Waits, Innocent when you Dream http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5RBRiuxNpDA

The one she likes to wake up to : The Dirtbombs, Underdog http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h83jNFiyskE

The one she listens to when she’s drunk and mopey : David Bowie, Ashes to Ashes http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wnc7b1utU3Y

The one that makes her feel better : Flogging Molly, The Worst Day Since Yesterday http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sDSud7vAH_0

The one that reminds her of her childhood : Angelo Branduardi, Alla Fiera dell'Est http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IVwCOO0PYZA

The one that reminds her of her teenage : Kymia Dawson, Loose Lips http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MisUUm0-dz0

The one that reminds her of her college years : Jacques Dutronc, Paris s’éveille http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3WcCg6rm3uM

The one that makes her smile : Scissor Sisters, I Can’t Decide http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OFKUnfwBPTU

The one that reaches her inner groupie : Iggy Pop, The Passenger http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hLhN__oEHaw

The one that grit’em teeth of her : Carl Orff, Carmina Burana http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NxW2PLxjRwE

Since writing Adreena's bio has shown so far to be a work in regress, I (for now) skip this step and ask for some feedback.

Part of the problem of writing this bio is that Adreena started as a blank slate , since I knew nothing of the universe (except fro the spaceship part ; Adreena's creation consisted of three steps "Oh, tribals ! Oh, thinkers ! Oh, tinkerers !" and that was pretty much it). The only thing I knew was that I wanted to play a normal character -normal as in "I can believe such a person would exist in such a universe".
Some details about her were decided by the roll of a d100 (she's left-handed, her blood group A+), some were laid in a short story posted somewhere in here, many more were decided/discovered during different rp moments :

She's young, both in age and at heart (the way I rp'ed her, and the way people react toward her).
She's small (the way she reacted when she met Pieter for the first time).
She simultaneously worships and is terrified by her father, she has a low self-esteem, her inner voice constantly smacktalking her (hardly noticeable in a channel, but an important part of her contributions in the "Who Am I" thread on the Eve forums).
She is a clusterfuck of contradicting emotions, rapidly switching from one opposite to another (that's the player main contribution ^^ ).

I had tons of fun roleplaying her so far (thanks to those who made such moments possible :) ), and her evolution/discovery has felt rather organic to me.
If you have any critics, remarks, suggestions, they would be more than welcome :)

I started in the same kind of situation with all the PF to learn (added to the fact that at that time every bloodline had specific attributes). I don't see a lot of options other than adding new layers everytime something seems fitting or interests you when found in the prime fiction, chronicles, news, or else. The only thing that can be done beforehand is fleshing out the character in itself, but for the history and the reasons why the character is like this and not like this... It takes a little time.

I generally don't like it as it usually gets very messy and brings often a lot of retcons, so I prefer creating a character when I know the universe better, but here I didn't get the chance for that so... vOv

I've always preferred the blank slate method for my own characters. It seems as though you get a better rounded character (though you can start with some strong foundational stuff and add on too).

Given you don't know much about the PF I'd suggest playing a Minmatar from the Diaspora. That is to say an ex-slave or someone from the Federation. This gives you a good IC excuse to not know much about mainstream Minmatar society and ask lots of questions about the basics.

Seems a point needs to be clarified :
I created Adreena and started playing Eve something like 5 months ago, and indeed, back then the only thing I new about the universe was that there were spaceships.
I discovered there was a roleplaying community maybe a month into the game (via Boom Boom Longtime bio >_>' ). And started nibbling into the PF. And while I'm faaaaaar away from knowing everything there is to know on that matter, I think -I hope ! I know enough to roleplay a sebbie without too much derp ^^

@Lyn : I usually try to learn as much as possible about a universe before I create a character, too... But I honestly believed there wasn't much of a background in Eve Online. It is odd, come to think of it, that CCP advertise about spaceships and freedom and never on the complexity of the universe é_ô

I haven't interacted with Adreena much but I like her as a character. She's got a bit of sass, a bit of innocence and a lot of Minmatar. :)

I have been quite lucky with the Sebiestor RP'ers I've met - a number of them play interesting and nuanced characters, and I include Adreena in that list.

Keep it up!

Adreena's a better wing man than Pieter.

No seriously, Adreena's lots of fun. Really refreshing and down to earth. Would like to see moar Adreena around for Anslo to hang out with.

Then, mission accomplished, Adreena is a very well rounded and believable pilot. And one that is very fun to interact with as well, even if it is complicated to do so not knowing how the events in Who Am I ended. xD

Art, Pieter, Anslol, Sepherim : well, thanks :)

@ Anslo : time zones are just that bitchy :/
@Sepherim : well, since Sepherim and Adreena agreed in this thread not to make those events public, it's rather easy for them to just nod in connivance when they see each other ^^

It still is strange. What if we die on the other side and never make it back, so we shouldn't actually remember anything. Or if a rogue drone infected you or me, or whatever. Strange. xD
