First Seyllin Conference, 18th July 111YC
« on: 31 Jul 2010, 12:47 »

The logs from this event last summer are obnoxiously long, so I've split the Auditorium channel's logs into several posts (and used spoiler tags to make it easier to move between logs if you want to skip down to those and ignore the lobby).

Quote from: SeyCon_Lobby_20090718_161339.txt
---------------------------------------------------------------

  Channel ID:      -473488
  Channel Name:    SeyCon Lobby
  Listener:        Morwen Lagann
  Session started: 2009.07.18 16:13:39
---------------------------------------------------------------

[ 2009.07.18 16:13:42 ] EVE System > Channel MOTD: The Lobby is a arrival hall built in a style that is the synthesis of several architectural eras and cultural influences. The ceiling is vaulted, with support columns made of a dark stained wood. An onyx floor is decorated with granite and a fine silver trace, etching out a geometric pattern throughout the hall. Several access terminals and holo emitters are visible, allowing for easy retrieval of conference data from Galnet. A virtual intelligence greets you and hands you a guide to the day's events. There are also directions to the SeyCon Gallery, a museum of Sleeper artifacts, down the hall to the left. The security guards at the checkpoint require that all guests turn over offensive weaponry. A detail in medium armor and with blaspistols is present at the entrance to ensure nothing unfortunate occurs in the main hall.
 [ 2009.07.18 17:04:07 ] Julianus Soter > /emote tests a public announcement system. > testing, testing.

[ 2009.07.18 17:18:06 ] Morwen Lagann > Hikari, I would like to at least live long enough to die of embarrassment while giving the presentation.
[ 2009.07.18 17:19:21 ] DeadRow > /emote rolls her eyes > That wasn't a threat.. I quite like the name really... if only to creep out Reimei more..
[ 2009.07.18 17:20:01 ] Morwen Lagann > You didn't actually do anything of the sort, did you?
 [ 2009.07.18 17:20:16 ] DeadRow > /emote chuckles > Of course not... but don't tell him.

[ 2009.07.18 17:22:17 ] Aldrith Shutaq > /emote submits his weapons quickly to the gaurds, grumbling in his rush. He strides towards the door t the main hall.

[ 2009.07.18 17:24:26 ] Julianus Soter > As do I. There will also be the opportunity for some roundtable discussion as well.
 [ 2009.07.18 17:24:51 ] Kharakan > /emote pauses near Soter > 'Where to?'
 [ 2009.07.18 17:24:55 ] Vincent Pryce > /emote nods to Mort

[ 2009.07.18 17:25:31 ] Morwen Lagann > /emote blinks when she sees Aldrith rushing into the Auditorium, wondering what his hurry was.
[ 2009.07.18 17:26:18 ] Ashley Ryltan > /emote also inclines her head to Vince, continuing to observe her surroundings.  She murmurs something to Mortis that looks like teasing.
 [ 2009.07.18 17:26:24 ] DeadRow > /emote chuckles at the Ni-Kunni. > Someone wants to get a good seat.
 [ 2009.07.18 17:26:35 ] Vincent Pryce > /emote nods to Ashley as well

[ 2009.07.18 17:28:40 ] Mortis Tyrathlion > Vince, then.  *He smiles faintly.*  I never like to presume.
 [ 2009.07.18 17:29:15 ] Vincent Pryce > /emote smiles softly "We're Family after all."
 [ 2009.07.18 17:29:26 ] Conall Gunnr > /emote wanders towards DeadRow> Hikari is it?
[ 2009.07.18 17:29:41 ] Aldrith Shutaq > /emote emerges from the doors again, frowning slightly, but his pace much more relaxed as he scans the lobby.
 [ 2009.07.18 17:29:57 ] DeadRow > /emote smiles > It is.
 [ 2009.07.18 17:29:59 ] Mortis Tyrathlion > /emote 's smile turns slightly bitter, and he nods > That's true enough.
[ 2009.07.18 17:30:24 ] Conall Gunnr > interesting crowd here, seems most of you know each other already.
[ 2009.07.18 17:31:31 ] Vkoloyan > /emote approaches the guard station to pick up his name tag after tossing the valet boy the keys to his Gallente Navy Comet

[ 2009.07.18 17:31:36 ] DeadRow > Ah.. well I only really know fellow Accordians. I recognise some of the 'Ghosts'
 [ 2009.07.18 17:31:47 ] Conall Gunnr > or just recently?
 [ 2009.07.18 17:31:49 ] Conall Gunnr > ahh
[ 2009.07.18 17:32:25 ] Conall Gunnr > normally I stay in a WH myself, but today seemed as though it may be interesting
[ 2009.07.18 17:32:40 ] Ishii Turq > Hi Conall, yes I've been living in Sleeper space for about 3 months now. Nice to have made this trip back into known space actually
[ 2009.07.18 17:32:57 ] DeadRow > I, personally, have only been entering Sleeper Space for just over a month.. Mr Soter is probably most experienced here.
[ 2009.07.18 17:33:19 ] DeadRow > /emote nods > Hopefully today will enlighten the attendees in what lies over the other side.
 [ 2009.07.18 17:33:22 ] Conall Gunnr > /emote turns and nods to Turq> pleasure to meet you

[ 2009.07.18 17:33:51 ] Conall Gunnr > what class have you set up in?
[ 2009.07.18 17:34:10 ] Vincent Pryce > /emote nods "Aye too ka bit of a head start, sis. How's you?"
 [ 2009.07.18 17:34:11 ] Mortis Tyrathlion > /emote inclines his head > Nephilim.
[ 2009.07.18 17:34:26 ] Ishii Turq > Initially we set up in a class 4, but moved to a class 2 which is where we live now.
 [ 2009.07.18 17:34:36 ] Ishii Turq > How about you?
[ 2009.07.18 17:35:06 ] Captain Plumb > /emote walks into the lobby and moves to the back of the crowd.
[ 2009.07.18 17:35:12 ] Myrhial Arkenath > I took the opportunity to see the planet with my own eyes. Holo's don't do it justice.
[ 2009.07.18 17:35:31 ] Conall Gunnr > Some of my associates and I have been set up in a class 3 system for awhile now. was quite a bother to get out earlier at all. suspected i'd be showing up here in a fresh clone
[ 2009.07.18 17:35:46 ] Vincent Pryce > /emote grows very dark and sad with the mention, staying silent.
[ 2009.07.18 17:35:55 ] DeadRow > Oh?.. You both live in Sleeper Space then?.. interesting.
[ 2009.07.18 17:36:06 ] Mortis Tyrathlion > I spent some time navigating the debris in my Claw.  It is certainly... impressive.
 [ 2009.07.18 17:36:30 ] Myrhial Arkenath > /emote frowns slightly > I'm sorry vincent.
[ 2009.07.18 17:37:04 ] Conall Gunnr > /emote nods> i've was raiding them shortly after they began appearing, brought back most of the first intell for our corp. SUpoose thats in part why my interest in the accords has brought me here
[ 2009.07.18 17:37:20 ] Ishii Turq > We knew very little back then about wormhole space, as was the case for most. But we moved in to one temporarily to support an ally corp who were under siege from pirates. We liked it so we decided to set up camp in our own space
 [ 2009.07.18 17:38:24 ] Conall Gunnr > Why did you move from a class 4 to a class 2?
 [ 2009.07.18 17:38:30 ] Conall Gunnr > seems a step backwards
[ 2009.07.18 17:40:36 ] Ishii Turq > The particular class 4 was drained of resources, and had basically cut us off from empire, our static WH always opened deep into null-sec. We chose the class 2 after a lot of research, it always opened up in convenient places and gave us plenty of...
[ 2009.07.18 17:41:03 ] Ishii Turq > ...resources with the neighbouring class 1 WH that opens each day, meaning we have a constant supply of work
 [ 2009.07.18 17:41:22 ] DeadRow > /emote smiles > I'll leave you two to it, I'm going to grab a seat in the Auditorium.
[ 2009.07.18 17:41:55 ] Conall Gunnr > fair enough, the class 3 does run low occasionally however we're shorter on interest now than when we started off
[ 2009.07.18 17:42:15 ] Mortis Tyrathlion > /emote glances over towards the auditorium > Masque has already gone in to save me a seat... shall I ask her to make room for the two of you as well?
[ 2009.07.18 17:42:53 ] Conall Gunnr > lots of sleepers though, they are always trying to retake the space, quite profitable, and fairly regular holes to highsec to get fuel and resources out
 [ 2009.07.18 17:43:08 ] Myrhial Arkenath > That'd be kind of her.
 [ 2009.07.18 17:43:20 ] Myrhial Arkenath > I wasn't aware you had brought her along.
[ 2009.07.18 17:43:25 ] Vincent Pryce > /emote nods to mort not sayign a word trying ot force a smile with out success
[ 2009.07.18 17:43:33 ] Ishii Turq > We were also quite a small corp when we were in the class 4, so often couldn't cope with some of the sleeper defences that would occasionally make incursions into our space, this seems to occur a lot less in the class 2, so it's easier for us to manage
 [ 2009.07.18 17:43:51 ] Mortis Tyrathlion > I didn't intend to.  *He grimaces almost imperceptibly.*  She insisted.
 [ 2009.07.18 17:44:22 ] Myrhial Arkenath > Oh. I wonder why.
 [ 2009.07.18 17:45:00 ] HavvieG > Whoa, I sure picked a wrong time to enter the conversation..
[ 2009.07.18 17:45:04 ] Aldrith Shutaq > /emote shakes his head in confusion as he finds it mostly empty as well, then turns back for the auditorium.
[ 2009.07.18 17:45:15 ] Dex Nederland > /emote looks impatient as the guards complete their search of him, the fifth since docking at each one they find nothing of note.  He accepts the datapad back after it was scanned and bows slightly to the Gallente guard who handed it to him.
[ 2009.07.18 17:45:55 ] Conall Gunnr > yes there is often just a couple of us out there a lot of the time. Some of us would like class 4 options however the logistics just don't line up i'm afraid.
[ 2009.07.18 17:45:55 ] Ishii Turq > I'd better go and take a seat now, talk to you later
 [ 2009.07.18 17:45:58 ] Mortis Tyrathlion > /emote just grimaces again, and remains silent.
 [ 2009.07.18 17:46:08 ] Conall Gunnr > a good idea
[ 2009.07.18 17:46:16 ] Dex Nederland > /emote looks for the auditorium entrance and begins to walk towards it; his eyes quickly back to hiw datapad
 [ 2009.07.18 17:46:21 ] Conall Gunnr > /emote wanders towards auditorium
 [ 2009.07.18 17:46:22 ] Dex Nederland > ^his
[ 2009.07.18 17:47:23 ] Vincent Pryce > /emote nods to Myrh and Mort "Sis, Mort 'scuse me..." He walks of trailing amongst the popluation.
[ 2009.07.18 17:47:42 ] Nicole Graves > /emote enters the Lobby, frowning at the searching by the guards then waits for her company.
[ 2009.07.18 17:47:54 ] Mortis Tyrathlion > There seems to be a general flow towards the auditorium... shall we, Miss Arkenath?
[ 2009.07.18 17:48:17 ] Myrhial Arkenath > /emote looks after Vincent, then nods > Yes, let's go, don't want to miss the start.
[ 2009.07.18 17:48:45 ] Mortis Tyrathlion > /emote bows and politely offers his arm, always the gentleman.
[ 2009.07.18 17:48:45 ] Dex Nederland > /emote enters the Auditorium, quickly checking behind him for anyone following close
[ 2009.07.18 17:48:55 ] Leopold Caine > /emote walks inside, looking around and noticing everyone is already moving to a room deeper in the complex
[ 2009.07.18 17:49:05 ] HavvieG > /emote grabs himself a drink, then saunters off in the direction of the auditorium.
 [ 2009.07.18 17:49:13 ] Dex Nederland > /emote enters the auditorium
 [ 2009.07.18 17:49:28 ] Myrhial Arkenath > /emote puts her arm around Morts > Such fine manners.
[ 2009.07.18 17:49:41 ] Leopold Caine > /emote sticks with the crowd, sliding over to where everyone was heading
[ 2009.07.18 17:49:47 ] Mortis Tyrathlion > I am an aristocrat.  *He smiles faintly, moving into the auditorium.*
[ 2009.07.18 17:50:11 ] Julianus Soter > *a female announcer intones that there is 20 minutes remaining until the keynote address*
[ 2009.07.18 17:51:58 ] Lyrissa Aolasai > /emote walks in, paying close attention to a small datapad in her hands. She obliviously waves off guards as they try to check her in.
 [ 2009.07.18 17:53:05 ] Louella Dougans > /emote arrives, looks for Nicole
 [ 2009.07.18 17:54:29 ] Nicole Graves > /emote walks up to Louella, smiling softly.
 [ 2009.07.18 17:54:44 ] Louella Dougans > hi, guess we'd better go in, eh?
[ 2009.07.18 17:55:57 ] Nicole Graves > /emote nods, offering her hand to Louella, like at the Gate. > Might as well. I think its about fifteen minutes till it starts..
 [ 2009.07.18 17:56:14 ] Louella Dougans > /emote follows nicole
[ 2009.07.18 17:56:18 ] Evanda Char > /emote walks up to security, handing over a silver, butterfly-shaped hairclasp and a wide-bore, short-barrelled pistol she pulls from a stocking-top. She flashes a smile to the guard and then walks past, seeming a little self-conscious in a cocktail dre...
 [ 2009.07.18 17:56:23 ] Evanda Char > *dress.
 [ 2009.07.18 17:57:05 ] Julianus Soter > /emote smiles. > Hello, Evanda. Your trip was uneventful?
[ 2009.07.18 17:57:44 ] Evanda Char > So far... *She glances back over her shoulder* Did you get my message?
 [ 2009.07.18 17:58:04 ] Julianus Soter > /emote nods. > I did.
 [ 2009.07.18 17:58:06 ] Evanda Char > I wish I hadn't sent it now... Omega directives make me jumpy
[ 2009.07.18 17:58:27 ] Julianus Soter > Hm. Well, I'm sure everyone will be very interested in your report.
 [ 2009.07.18 17:58:54 ] Evanda Char > /emote bites her lip > Or, I'm going to sound like a loon
[ 2009.07.18 17:59:17 ] Vkoloyan > /emote frowns at the sign "No Drinks Alowed in Auditorium" as he start heading towards the doors.
[ 2009.07.18 17:59:25 ] Evanda Char > Ah well... *She smooths down her skirt.* Where do I go?
[ 2009.07.18 17:59:52 ] Julianus Soter > /emote gestures behind him. > Ah the auditorium is right this way.
 [ 2009.07.18 18:00:08 ] Evanda Char > Through there? Thanks, Julianus!
 [ 2009.07.18 18:00:21 ] Julianus Soter > Ah, no problem, Evanda.

[ 2009.07.18 18:01:27 ] Julianus Soter > /emote notices Vikarion as he moves towards the auditorium entrance. > Hey there, Vikarion.
[ 2009.07.18 18:01:46 ] Aria Jenneth > *The amount of security in the lobby is rising, quietly but noticeably, quiet conversations murmured among the guardians as additional personnel carrying nondescript cases take their places at the front and at various other points around the room*
 [ 2009.07.18 18:02:02 ] Vikarion > Soter....*Vikarion stops* It is good to see you.

 [ 2009.07.18 18:02:20 ] Julianus Soter > /emote takes it and shakes it, firmly.
[ 2009.07.18 18:02:33 ] Julianus Soter > /emote winks. > You'll have to excuse me... only have a few minutes before I have to speak.
 [ 2009.07.18 18:02:47 ] Vikarion > Not a problem. I should get in there myself.
[ 2009.07.18 18:03:47 ] Kimochi Rendar > /emote walks in through the entranceway of the lobby wearing a long tight deep purple velvet dress and a black leather waist cincher with silver buckles. She heads towards the doorway leading to the Auditorium.
 [ 2009.07.18 18:03:51 ] Julianus Soter > /emote has left the lobby.

Morwen's Law:
1) The number of capsuleer women who are bisexual is greater than the number who are lesbian.
2) Most of the former group appear lesbian due to a lack of suitable male partners to go around.
3) The lack of suitable male partners can be summed up in most cases thusly: interested, worth the air they breathe, available; pick two.

[ 2009.07.18 18:12:55 ] Leopold Caine > /emote chuckles at Katherine's comment, still observing the commotion in the front
 [ 2009.07.18 18:13:00 ] Myrhial Arkenath > /emote nods politely to Ama > Pleasure to meet you.
 [ 2009.07.18 18:13:07 ] Julianus Soter > Good evening, friends, colleagues, honorable representatives, and guests. I wish to thank you all for attending what I hope will be a historic moment for the capsuleer community;

[ 2009.07.18 18:13:39 ] Kimochi Rendar > /emote winks to Ama and looks forward as Julianus starts speaking
[ 2009.07.18 18:13:52 ] Izanami Rei > /emote finds a vacant sitting place and settles in for the duration *
[ 2009.07.18 18:13:52 ] Inara Subaka > /emote sits down next to Ama smiling and turning her attention forward.
[ 2009.07.18 18:13:58 ] Amaterasu Mikoto > /emote smiles shyly at Kimmy and then turns toward the front.
 [ 2009.07.18 18:14:05 ] Vkoloyan > shhh
[ 2009.07.18 18:14:17 ] Julianus Soter > /emote looks up and looks out upon the audience. > Four months ago we witnessed one of the most terrible natural disasters mankind has ever endured. Hundreds of millions were wiped out.
 [ 2009.07.18 18:14:26 ] Vincent Pryce > /emote nods to Ama, faintly smiling
[ 2009.07.18 18:14:33 ] Julianus Soter > But the legacy of this event needs not be of tragedy. The wormholes that now entangle the Cluster with the Sleeper's foreboding domain is a tremendous opportunity.
 [ 2009.07.18 18:14:39 ] Dex Nederland > /emote stiffens
[ 2009.07.18 18:14:51 ] Julianus Soter > And we have a sacred duty to the souls lost on March Tenth, to make sure their loss wouldn't see the continued rivalries of our community prevent a measured, rational, and comprehensive response to the presence of the Sleeper AIs.
[ 2009.07.18 18:15:17 ] Julianus Soter > Indeed, this matter has fallen to us as our responsibility. The Empires and other major entities in the Cluster are ill-suited to delaing with the highly adaptive, advanced, and destructive threat presented by the Sleepers.
[ 2009.07.18 18:15:40 ] Julianus Soter > Not only has every expedition launched into w-space by the Empires been rebuffed, but significant losses in lives and ships have been incurred in the attempt, as well.
[ 2009.07.18 18:16:10 ] Julianus Soter > Capsuleers are unique, perhaps, in the level of our ability to adapt our ships and our tactics. Where we lack sheer manpower or firepower... we more than adequately make up for in our capacity for superior teamwork, cunning, and curiosity.
 [ 2009.07.18 18:16:46 ] Julianus Soter > /emote pauses for a moment, then continuing.
[ 2009.07.18 18:16:54 ] Julianus Soter > Today, I call upon all of those present, either in Seyllin, or joining us via FTL or holography to put these advantages of ours to good use, as we attempt to decipher the real nature of the Sleeper AIs, their world, and the causes behind March tenth.
[ 2009.07.18 18:17:34 ] Julianus Soter > Each of the factions that have chosen to participate here today have something they can contribute to this effort.
[ 2009.07.18 18:18:13 ] Julianus Soter > /emote looks over the entire assembled audience. > To understand the Sleepers means drawing upon every tool and resource at our disposal; and it will require everything the capsuleer community has to offer.
[ 2009.07.18 18:18:45 ] Julianus Soter > This undertaking requires pilots adept in combat reconnaissance, long-range observation and survey, industry, reverse engineering, decryption, archeology, anthropology, and many other fields and disciplines.
[ 2009.07.18 18:19:21 ] Julianus Soter > It is my hope that as we share our findings and discuss their implications, that this dialog will continue, and that this spirit of cooperation won't simply evaporate with the closing of the auditorium's doors.
[ 2009.07.18 18:20:20 ] Julianus Soter > Whatever our personal differences, whatever our religious beliefs, and whatever our political policies might be... we are of the same blood, the same race.
[ 2009.07.18 18:20:48 ] Julianus Soter > And we will be far stronger united and working in symphony than we ever will be scattered and in dissonance.
 [ 2009.07.18 18:21:23 ] Julianus Soter > Thank you.
[ 2009.07.18 18:21:25 ] Julianus Soter > Now, if you'll allow me to introduce the first speaker this evening, Evanda Char. Evanda, if you'd please?
[ 2009.07.18 18:21:52 ] Julianus Soter > /emote steps back from the podium, giving Evanda the floor.
[ 2009.07.18 18:21:53 ] Evanda Char > /emote turns bright pink and stands up, and picks her way up the steps onto the stage
 [ 2009.07.18 18:22:00 ] Kimochi Rendar > /emote applauds
 [ 2009.07.18 18:22:18 ] Edthin > /emote gives a few polite claps.
 [ 2009.07.18 18:22:19 ] Vincent Pryce > /emote joins the applause
 [ 2009.07.18 18:22:19 ] Aldrith Shutaq > /emote applauds quietly, smiling slightly at himself.
 [ 2009.07.18 18:22:21 ] DeadRow > /emote joins in the applauding
 [ 2009.07.18 18:22:31 ] HavvieG > /emote lends his own hands to the applause.
 [ 2009.07.18 18:22:38 ] Aurora Morgan > /emote applauds.
[ 2009.07.18 18:22:39 ] Evanda Char > /emote murmurs her thanks to Julianus, briefly shaking his hand, and turns to the podium, shuffling her papers and grinning at the faces she knows in the audience
[ 2009.07.18 18:22:49 ] Morwen Lagann > /emote claps as well, watching as Evanda steps behind the podium.
[ 2009.07.18 18:22:51 ] Aria Jenneth > *applauds, though her eyes turn towards the galleries above. To those few who can see it, her expression looks ... tense*
 [ 2009.07.18 18:22:52 ] Aurora Morgan > /emote smiles at her.
 [ 2009.07.18 18:23:11 ] Julianus Soter > /emote returns to his seat.
 [ 2009.07.18 18:23:18 ] DeadRow > /emote gives a whistle at Evanda.
[ 2009.07.18 18:23:19 ] Lyrissa Aolasai > /emote looks back down to her datapad and presses a few buttons on it. She tries to finish before the next speaker begins talking.
 [ 2009.07.18 18:23:29 ] Kimochi Rendar > /emote crosses her legs and looks relaxed
[ 2009.07.18 18:23:57 ] Aldrith Shutaq > /emote smiles at her as well, though he seems conflicted about it.
[ 2009.07.18 18:24:36 ] Evanda Char > /emote takes a deep breath and stops fussing with her papers. > Friends, rivals, enemies... esteemed colleagues all... it was originally my intention to present simply my alliance's findings so far, but I became pretty certain that Synenose would hav...
 [ 2009.07.18 18:24:39 ] Vikarion > /emote smiles at the Matari woman.
[ 2009.07.18 18:25:38 ] Evanda Char > have the same data and more of it... I pondered talking a little about sleeper history and the ruins they left in my own homelands, in Ani constellation... but sometimes the pen has a way of its own, and as I wrote it something else came to light
[ 2009.07.18 18:26:24 ] Evanda Char > /emote inhales deeply once again, looking worriedly towards the doors, then up at the galleries, then back at the audience with a nervous smile
[ 2009.07.18 18:26:51 ] Red Katherine > /emote grits her teeth at the mention of Ani.
[ 2009.07.18 18:27:43 ] Evanda Char > As well as all the opportunities the wormholes hold for the advancement of humanity and the rediscovery of lost knowledge, as capsuleers we must consider also the threat that the sleeper drones, and anything else that may be behind them may pose.
[ 2009.07.18 18:28:32 ] Evanda Char > They are intelligent, adaptive, well armed and armoured... certainly they are formiddable in space.
[ 2009.07.18 18:28:44 ] Evanda Char > /emote bites her lip for a moment and then pushes on
[ 2009.07.18 18:29:29 ] Evanda Char > But there is another threat they hypothetically pose... a threat that humanity has, in recent years, proven to be vulnerable to... again and again...
[ 2009.07.18 18:30:31 ] Aldrith Shutaq > /emote listens intently, his awkward smile replaced with a look of solemn agreement.
[ 2009.07.18 18:31:02 ] Evanda Char > /emote pushes a button on her datapad and a holo swirls into life behind her, displaying the title: "Memetic Infection Vectors: The Sleeper Threat"
[ 2009.07.18 18:32:02 ] Evanda Char > Memes... we've all heard of them in the context of transhumanism. Beliefs, mannerisms... behavioural quirks that become embedded in a mindset. Memes are the genetics of information.
[ 2009.07.18 18:33:02 ] Kimochi Rendar > /emote raises an eyebrow, wondering where this is going to lead.
[ 2009.07.18 18:33:24 ] Evanda Char > When a virus infects a host, it injects its own DNA into a section of the host's, causing its own reproduction with the host's own process
[ 2009.07.18 18:33:50 ] Evanda Char > So it is with memes - commonly, we repeat them, teach them, spread them to others
[ 2009.07.18 18:34:28 ] Evanda Char > A computer virus, for instance, could be more accurately described as a contagious meme
[ 2009.07.18 18:35:19 ] Evanda Char > The Sleeper civilization was known for its excellence in the fields of Artificial Intelligence and Virtual Reality. Remains of such systems were found in Sleeper ruins in Ani constellation, but none bears even a shadow of a resemblance to the advanced
 [ 2009.07.18 18:35:26 ] Evanda Char > technology we see in w-space.
[ 2009.07.18 18:35:42 ] Evanda Char > Two theories have become popular amongst explorers regarding the sleeper drones encountered beyond the event horizons of the wormholes.
[ 2009.07.18 18:35:53 ] Evanda Char > The first is that the drones are the artificially‐intelligent remnants of the civilization, now running on redundant programming or attempting to chart their own course without their human masters.
[ 2009.07.18 18:36:03 ] Evanda Char > The second theory, now growing in popularity, is that the Sleepers chose to translate their consciousnesses into their drones, and that the hostility we face in W‐space is theirs.
[ 2009.07.18 18:36:54 ] Evanda Char > Regardless of which it is, there are certain factors that show we face the same threat from either.
[ 2009.07.18 18:37:27 ] Evanda Char > *The holo behind Evanda swirls into the image of a middle-aged Caldari man*
[ 2009.07.18 18:39:21 ] Evanda Char > Sansha Kuvakei started life as the heir to a wealthy family of arms dealers and developers. They had amassed considerable knowledge of weaponry and engineering systems both from research and rediscovery. It was this that enabled him to grow a
[ 2009.07.18 18:39:30 ] Evanda Char > considerable empire through the arms trade.
[ 2009.07.18 18:40:24 ] Evanda Char > As most today know, his dreams led to the creation of the so‐called “True Slaves” – AI‐augmented humans who could easily be controlled by implanted programming or, some allege, a remote AI nexus - and the "True Sansha" who combined AI and human
 [ 2009.07.18 18:40:31 ] Evanda Char > intuition.
 [ 2009.07.18 18:40:47 ] Vikarion > /emote straightens noticeably.
 [ 2009.07.18 18:40:59 ] HavvieG > /emote shivers.
 [ 2009.07.18 18:41:01 ] Conall Gunnr > /emote perks up
 [ 2009.07.18 18:41:11 ] Aurora Morgan > /emote curls up in her seat.
 [ 2009.07.18 18:41:16 ] DeadRow > /emote perks up, arcing an eyebrow at the Sansha's mention.
[ 2009.07.18 18:41:17 ] Evanda Char > While the structural details of such programs remains unknown *she smiles at Vikarion* - at least to me - for the purposes of this paper, it proves the potential for a memetically‐alien intelligence to successfully interface with the human brain.
 [ 2009.07.18 18:41:20 ] Morwen Lagann > /emote shudders a little, gripping Aurora's hand instinctively.
 [ 2009.07.18 18:41:38 ] Vikarion > /emote nods and relaxes.
[ 2009.07.18 18:41:47 ] Aldrith Shutaq > /emote continues to listen, his expression not changing.
[ 2009.07.18 18:43:51 ] Evanda Char > That is an interface between digital intelligence and the good old-fashioned "meat brain" that cloning techs kindly grow for us to inhabit. We, the "infomorph," as I believe Miss Jenneth first put it, have gone one step beyond this.
[ 2009.07.18 18:44:05 ] Evanda Char > The trans‐neural echo burning scan precisely maps the state of a pilot’s brain at the instant of death. The precise shape of the dendrites and synaptic potentiation levels store the pilot’s memories and skills.
[ 2009.07.18 18:44:08 ] Austin Fleck > /emote gets tense thinking about the lost generations of his people to slavers, and wants to take it out on the four pirates outside of station
[ 2009.07.18 18:44:42 ] Evanda Char > This data is transmitted from the dying pod to cloning company relays, whence it is used to complete the final stage of cranial development in the waiting clone.
[ 2009.07.18 18:44:55 ] Evanda Char > This translation, from consciousness to data and back again, is fundamental to the infomorph – the pod pilot. It is of note because, for the duration of the transfer, a pilot’s consciousness exists in the same state as an artificial intelligence, albeit
 [ 2009.07.18 18:45:04 ] Evanda Char > encoded, perhaps, by a different algorithm.
[ 2009.07.18 18:46:08 ] Evanda Char > Our implants have adapted us to send and receive data freely. We open ourselves to a thousand different inputs every time we board a ship.
[ 2009.07.18 18:46:56 ] Evanda Char > The recent Code Aria leaked report showed clearly that not all the data flying around the fluid router relays is necessarily safe.
[ 2009.07.18 18:47:26 ] Evanda Char > Annex E of the Code Aria report revealed details of various AI creations that had, at points near the completion of their development, exceeded their programmed parameters and become “rogue.”
 [ 2009.07.18 18:47:38 ] Red Katherine > /emote shudders.
[ 2009.07.18 18:47:44 ] Evanda Char > Magnus was an intelligent ship that apparently attempted to escape towards the Infested Regions.
[ 2009.07.18 18:48:20 ] Evanda Char > The Prosperia drone appears to have attacked numerous vessels after breaking free of its operators. It reportedly attacked a number of civilian vessels, draining reactors and taking parts of certain types propulsion drives.
[ 2009.07.18 18:48:31 ] Evanda Char > Then there were the Heaestus construction drones, which appear to have either activated themselves or been remotely activated.
[ 2009.07.18 18:48:42 ] Evanda Char > What these incidents have in common is that a foreign element appears to have evolved or been introduced into the artifact’s intelligence at a point when all their hardware functionality was in place.
[ 2009.07.18 18:49:55 ] Evanda Char > Even in the original Orphyx incident, the drone's AI exceeded the limitations which had been programmed into it. Something changed it, possibly human sabotage, possibly a foreign transmission.
[ 2009.07.18 18:51:30 ] Evanda Char > There have long been rumours of “clone‐jacks” – someone’s physical clone being controlled by another consciousness that was transmitted to the body in place of the original owners.

[ 2009.07.18 18:52:31 ] Amaterasu Mikoto > /emote looks over at Inara with wide eyes.
[ 2009.07.18 18:52:36 ] Morwen Lagann > /emote stifles her own laugh, remembering the same thing as HIkari.
 [ 2009.07.18 18:52:50 ] Aldrith Shutaq > /emote frowns darkly, remembering the same thing.
[ 2009.07.18 18:53:01 ] Evanda Char > There's nothing concrete, of course, but I'm sure you all remember the rumours of Pier Ancru of Pend, who was allegedly in two places at once.
 [ 2009.07.18 18:53:11 ] Inara Subaka > /emote pats Ama's hand and shakes her head soothingly
[ 2009.07.18 18:53:50 ] Evanda Char > Sansha Kuvakei’s work proves that it is possible to interface computerized data and programs with the human mind without necessarily destroying the entirety of the original mind – consider the True Sansha, not the True Slave as an example of this.
 [ 2009.07.18 18:53:57 ] Nicole Graves > /emote seems quite shaking at the mention of Clone-Jacking..
[ 2009.07.18 18:54:10 ] Evanda Char > In order to interface with their virtualities, the Sleepers certainly achieved the same, though perhaps not by the same mechanic.
[ 2009.07.18 18:54:22 ] Evanda Char > The very process of cloning proves the ability to digitize and transmit consciousness, and there has been speculation for a number of years that mindlock and wetgraving are a result of catastrophic interference in the process.
[ 2009.07.18 18:54:43 ] Vincent Pryce > /emote leans on his hand waiting to see if this is going anywhere
[ 2009.07.18 18:54:45 ] Evanda Char > Regardless of whether the Sleeper Drones are true AI or piloted by infomorph‐consciousness, the facility to transfer their intelligence is present, and therefore memetic contagion of the infomorph community must be considered a potential threat.
[ 2009.07.18 18:56:51 ] Evanda Char > It is my hypothesis that the intelligence behind sleeper drones is the same as the contaminating vector in rogue drone evolution and that there is a viable risk that it can, or has, already crossed into the infomorph population.
[ 2009.07.18 18:57:11 ] Evanda Char > My work from this point on will be hoping to disprove it, naturally.
 [ 2009.07.18 18:57:23 ] Evanda Char > Um... any questions?
[ 2009.07.18 18:58:13 ] Kimochi Rendar > /emote blinks and raises a hand > So... You think that the Sleepers may have the ability to bring about mindlock in Capsuleers?
[ 2009.07.18 18:58:31 ] Red Katherine > /emote starts half-way out of her seat. " 'Crossed into the infomorph population'? What exactly does that mean?"
 [ 2009.07.18 18:58:58 ] Morwen Lagann > /emote leans over and whispers into Aurora's ear.
[ 2009.07.18 18:59:02 ] Conall Gunnr > /emote wonders if the sleepers will "awake" into us
 [ 2009.07.18 18:59:17 ] Garion Avarr > /emote frowns and nods.
[ 2009.07.18 18:59:22 ] Evanda Char > No, I think mindlock is a product of interference in consciousness transmission, which could be a by-product of usually background transmissions or my hypothetical sleeper broadcasts
 [ 2009.07.18 18:59:39 ] Edthin > /emote raises his hand, remaining silent.
[ 2009.07.18 18:59:56 ] Vikarion > Miss Char, what do you think the possibilities of True Slave contamination are?
 [ 2009.07.18 19:00:04 ] Norrin Ellis > /emote sneaks in late and finds a seat.
[ 2009.07.18 19:00:21 ] Lyrissa Aolasai > /emote raises a hand and begins talking. 'This is all purely hypothetical, right? Essentially just theories and possibilities, not actual facts and examples?'
 [ 2009.07.18 19:01:18 ] Amaterasu Mikoto > /emote leans over and whispers something in Inara's ear.
[ 2009.07.18 19:01:24 ] Evanda Char > /emote glances back and forth at the rush of questions. "Yes, it's a hypothesis as much of the material I would need to prove it is either classified, arrestable or I just haven't found it
[ 2009.07.18 19:01:50 ] Aldrith Shutaq > /emote sighs as the crowd seems to get unruly.
[ 2009.07.18 19:02:05 ] Iulian Janus > Excuse me with the current levels of technology you talk about couldn't it be plausable to inter the intellegence of a Sleeper or Rogue Drone into a Blank Clone making it easier to study and control said intelligence for study?
[ 2009.07.18 19:02:07 ] Trabber Shir > Are you honestly saying woried that there are capsuleers flying around under the control of an ancient sleeper consciousness?
[ 2009.07.18 19:02:19 ] Evanda Char > By "passing into the infomorph population," I mean it is entirely possible, on the grounds that it would be very easy to do, that there are pilots out there with sleeper drones at the wheel
 [ 2009.07.18 19:03:03 ] Kimochi Rendar > /emote frowns skeptically at Evanda's hypothesis but remains silent.
[ 2009.07.18 19:03:10 ] Evanda Char > I think True Slaves are the least likely to be contaminated as they seem to be low-grade in their intelligence, unless Kuvakei learned how to make them from sleeper tech.
[ 2009.07.18 19:03:13 ] Inara Subaka > /emote raises her hand > What happens to a person if they are clonejacked, as in what happens to their mind, and does the new mind have trouble or problems in a body that isn't its own.
 [ 2009.07.18 19:03:14 ] Edthin > /emote keeps his hand raised, still quiet.
[ 2009.07.18 19:03:29 ] Aldrith Shutaq > /emote leans towards Morwen, smirking. "Capsuleers certianly aren't known for waiting their turn, eh?"
[ 2009.07.18 19:03:31 ] Trabber Shir > Why is that necessarily a problem? They can't be more destructive than a typical pod pilot already is.
[ 2009.07.18 19:03:42 ] Evanda Char > Yes, you could stuff one in a body if you could make it stay still.
[ 2009.07.18 19:03:48 ] Lyrissa Aolasai > /emote stifles a laugh as she turns back down to her datapad.
[ 2009.07.18 19:03:55 ] Evanda Char > /emote suddenly stops and turns to Trabber Shir

[ 2009.07.18 19:04:38 ] Myrhial Arkenath > /emote raises a hand as well > If this has indeed been happening, what do you think a reason or reasons could be we have no clear manifestations or proof of it yet?
 [ 2009.07.18 19:04:38 ] Red Katherine > How dare- !
[ 2009.07.18 19:04:50 ] Acolytus Alwyn > she did not just say that
 [ 2009.07.18 19:04:51 ] Vikarion > /emote laughs
[ 2009.07.18 19:05:05 ] Leopold Caine > /emote tilts his head up, with a raised eyebrow, then shrugs and shakes it.
[ 2009.07.18 19:05:17 ] Edthin > /emote lowers his hand, tapping into his datapad idly.

[ 2009.07.18 19:05:29 ] Julianus Soter > /emote stands up again, nodding to Evanda, and positioning himself at the podium.

[ 2009.07.18 19:05:36 ] Kimochi Rendar > /emote lets the gravity of Evanda's last comment sink in for a moment.
[ 2009.07.18 19:05:44 ] HavvieG > Miss Char, I find a slight problem with your hypothesis of the possibility capsuleers being clonejacked.
[ 2009.07.18 19:05:48 ] Julianus Soter > That will be it for now, there will be a five minute recess.... refreshments are available in the lobby.
 [ 2009.07.18 19:05:56 ] Julianus Soter > We'll continue at 1910.

[ 2009.07.18 19:20:56 ] Julianus Soter > And once everyone gets settled, I'll get started with the Synenose Accord report for our findings this past month and a half.
[ 2009.07.18 19:21:06 ] Inara Subaka > /emote whispers so only Ama can hear > Well, if it wasn't safe, I don't think he would have done it, and if something bad was going to happen because of that... it would have happened by now. Okay?
[ 2009.07.18 19:21:14 ] Evanda Char > /emote is sitting up front too, so she just leans over and pokes Jonny in the ribs
 [ 2009.07.18 19:21:15 ] Amaterasu Mikoto > O-okay...
[ 2009.07.18 19:21:40 ] Vincent Pryce > /emote leans towards Kimochi and whispers to her
[ 2009.07.18 19:22:28 ] Aldrith Shutaq > /emote comes back in, looking much calmer and walks back to his seat, avoiding looking at anyone.
[ 2009.07.18 19:22:28 ] Julianus Soter > /emote presses a button, and the Synenose Accord logo appears behind him.
[ 2009.07.18 19:23:06 ] Julianus Soter > Several days ago, Synenose Accord recon elements detected strange energy readings in a uncharted class-six system.
[ 2009.07.18 19:23:27 ] Aldrith Shutaq > /emote sits back down between Morwen and Aria, his eyes averted straigh at the poduim.
[ 2009.07.18 19:23:34 ] Julianus Soter > These readings revealed an otherwise hidden deadspace pocket. Long range telemetry proved to be insufficient, so I authorized a more thorough sweep.
[ 2009.07.18 19:23:43 ] Morwen Lagann > /emote sits up, smiling as she remembers the trip Julianus is referring to.
 [ 2009.07.18 19:23:52 ] Julianus Soter > Inside this pocket, we discovered a Sleeper facility. . .
 [ 2009.07.18 19:24:03 ] Evanda Char > /emote tilts her head curiously
 [ 2009.07.18 19:24:20 ] Julianus Soter > /emote uploads a series of holos: http://i608.photobucket.com/albums/tt162/sma7c/20090701235448.jpg http://i608.photobucket.com/albums/tt162/sma7c/20090701235409.jpg http://i608.photobucket.com/albums/tt162/sma7c/20090701235448.jpg
[ 2009.07.18 19:25:01 ] Julianus Soter > The bright luminous clouds are the sources of high gamma and x-ray radiation, of a frequency spectrum fitting that of what is a small-scale isogen-five detonation.
[ 2009.07.18 19:25:37 ] Julianus Soter > The blast didn't destroy, or even damage, the facility itself, suggesting it was a controlled and properly contained explosion. The stage of radioactive decay of trace elements present indicated this was a recent event.
[ 2009.07.18 19:25:58 ] Kimochi Rendar > /emote gives Vince a pained look and puts an arm around his shoulders gently
[ 2009.07.18 19:26:10 ] Julianus Soter > According to simulations of the radiation pattern and the surrounding traces of antimatter, the energy released was on the order of hundreds of terajoules.
[ 2009.07.18 19:27:07 ] Julianus Soter > Analysis indicates, however, that there was simultaneously an immense mass displacement of some kind, such as that of a super-capital vessel jump or wormhole transit.
[ 2009.07.18 19:27:48 ] Julianus Soter > The high level of radiation interference and several squadrons of sleeper battleships guarding the facility made further investigations impossible by the time of this report.
 [ 2009.07.18 19:28:06 ] Julianus Soter > /emote dismisses the images.
[ 2009.07.18 19:28:25 ] Julianus Soter > Accord research division conducted a post-mortem on the recon squadron's findings. As some of you might know, wormhole formation is a mechanism utilized by stargates in the Cluster, aided by gravity resonance points within our binary star systems.
[ 2009.07.18 19:28:46 ] Julianus Soter > These resonance points act as natural amplifiers, and reduce the necessary energy for a given Stargate activation.
[ 2009.07.18 19:28:57 ] Julianus Soter > Jump drives also utilize wormhole formation, but via a different mechanism. The jump drive can generate a highly unstable portal between the point of generation and a destination location, which is a cynosural field.
[ 2009.07.18 19:29:24 ] Julianus Soter > Without a cynosural field, the jump drive has no means of calibrating its systems, and the jump fails. The Sleepers, however, appear to have jump-drives capable of making jumps without an exit cyno. Ms. Lagann might have more to add to that later.
[ 2009.07.18 19:29:57 ] Julianus Soter > Let me put this bluntly: This order of energy released at the Sleeper facility and the way it was generated does not fit with a long-term energy production solution.
[ 2009.07.18 19:30:15 ] Morwen Lagann > /emote blanches, realizing she'd forgotten to put that into her talk.
[ 2009.07.18 19:30:38 ] Evanda Char > /emote shuts her eyes for a moment, tapping her fingers against her palm as if doing binary arithmetic
[ 2009.07.18 19:30:44 ] Aldrith Shutaq > /emote glances at Morwen at the mention of her.
[ 2009.07.18 19:30:48 ] Julianus Soter > According to our analysts, this event is anomalous, and the only likely hypothesis was a long-range, high-mass jump event out of their region of space to some unknown destination. Possibly something super-capital sized.
 [ 2009.07.18 19:30:51 ] Morwen Lagann > /emote pulls out her datapad and starts typing a bit.
 [ 2009.07.18 19:31:20 ] Husqi > Super Capitol... Drones?
[ 2009.07.18 19:31:33 ] Julianus Soter > Obviously, this finding is very troubling. The fact that the Sleepers activated this facility, and recently, seems to go in the face of everything we had thought about the Sleeper Ais.
[ 2009.07.18 19:31:38 ] Vlad Cetes > Soter, what is the outputed energy in realtion to a titan doomsday device?
[ 2009.07.18 19:32:41 ] Julianus Soter > /emote pauses. > Mr. Cetes, I don't have the data available here with me, but I would say that the event was something about that magnitude or greater. Highly directed and channeled, hoewver, not to destroy the structures.
 [ 2009.07.18 19:32:59 ] Julianus Soter > /emote continues.
[ 2009.07.18 19:33:11 ] Julianus Soter > Whereas some assumed them to be mindless automatons without any free will, stationed to guard important assets, this seems to indicate proactive management and deployment of technology to accomplish an unknown objective.
[ 2009.07.18 19:34:00 ] Julianus Soter > Moving on from that, however. . . we found a second unusual sleeper facility in the same Class-6 system.
 [ 2009.07.18 19:34:12 ] Julianus Soter > /emote uploads a holo to the main display: http://i371.photobucket.com/albums/oo160/koronakesh/Wormholes/Mirror2.jpg
 [ 2009.07.18 19:34:40 ] Kimochi Rendar > /emote sits forward, studying the images
[ 2009.07.18 19:34:48 ] Julianus Soter > Each of the main enclaves in this compound are specially configured for advanced research and development applications.
 [ 2009.07.18 19:34:58 ] Evanda Char > Good gods, it's intact...
[ 2009.07.18 19:35:07 ] Julianus Soter > Virtual genetics, the method of using virtual reality to modify influence behaviors, interpersonal communications, and cognition, is one such division.
 [ 2009.07.18 19:35:07 ] Edthin > /emote leans forwaard slightly., chewing his lip.
 [ 2009.07.18 19:35:17 ] Morwen Lagann > /emote hears Evanda's outburst and mutters > Intact and active.
 [ 2009.07.18 19:35:32 ] Dex Nederland > Its an outpost...
 [ 2009.07.18 19:35:33 ] HavvieG > /emote frowns.
[ 2009.07.18 19:35:37 ] Julianus Soter > Another is theoretical and bio genetics, suggesting advanced genetic engineering capabilities. An “Oruze” enclave, was also discovered attached to the compound, performing an unknown function.
[ 2009.07.18 19:36:05 ] Julianus Soter > In this image, if you notice the small dark shapes in the center... those are battleship-class Sleeper vessels.
 [ 2009.07.18 19:36:09 ] Aldrith Shutaq > /emote glowers at the image when he hears Evanda's voice.
 [ 2009.07.18 19:36:38 ] Vlad Cetes > intact and what activity level?
 [ 2009.07.18 19:36:39 ] Dex Nederland > /emote 's mouth hangs open for a moment
[ 2009.07.18 19:36:48 ] FIX IT > /emote loks left and right and whispers > Am I the only one who doesn't get any of this?
[ 2009.07.18 19:36:59 ] Julianus Soter > This structure is surrounded by static sentry guns and an armada of Sleeper warships.
[ 2009.07.18 19:37:36 ] Julianus Soter > The total diameter is... approximately seventy kilometers.
 [ 2009.07.18 19:38:02 ] Jonny Damordred > /emote does a bit of calculation on his datapad
 [ 2009.07.18 19:38:20 ] Kimochi Rendar > /emote whispers, mostly to herself > Gods, it's gigantic...
 [ 2009.07.18 19:38:29 ] Red Katherine > /emote trys to swollow, her mouth dry.
 [ 2009.07.18 19:38:34 ] Edthin > /emote muitters "magnificent..."
[ 2009.07.18 19:38:39 ] Julianus Soter > This facility is active. There are signs it is actively transmitting data throught the system. However, it's precise function is unknown.
 [ 2009.07.18 19:39:00 ] Julianus Soter > Now, moving on again. . .
[ 2009.07.18 19:39:06 ] Vincent Pryce > /emote looks at the pictures with keen intrest
[ 2009.07.18 19:39:08 ] Lyrissa Aolasai > /emote raises a hand quickly > 'Do you have any of those 'signs' to share with us, Mr. Soter?'
 [ 2009.07.18 19:39:23 ] Julianus Soter > Ah, I'm happy you'd ask.
[ 2009.07.18 19:39:26 ] Evanda Char > /emote glances at her datapad and slips out of her seat with an apologetic and somewhat wistful look at Julianus
[ 2009.07.18 19:39:43 ] Myrhial Arkenath > /emote takes in the information and displays quietly, her expression however has changed to one of keen interest and even amazement
[ 2009.07.18 19:40:03 ] DeadRow > /emote glances around the room at all the reactions and then sits back in her chair to listen to Soter some more
[ 2009.07.18 19:40:24 ] Julianus Soter > /emote uploads an audio file that plays over the audio system. It's largely incomprehensible, containing the word "Oruze" at times, and then shifting to an almost song-like melody. And then returning once more, to the static of encrypted data.
 [ 2009.07.18 19:40:59 ] Lyrissa Aolasai > Is that file on a loop?
 [ 2009.07.18 19:41:07 ] Julianus Soter > That is correct.
 [ 2009.07.18 19:41:17 ] Lyrissa Aolasai > It never changes?
 [ 2009.07.18 19:41:26 ] Julianus Soter > It's a capture from the stream.
[ 2009.07.18 19:42:06 ] Julianus Soter > Continuing from this facility, however, our recon squadron discovered something bizzarre....
[ 2009.07.18 19:42:07 ] Lyrissa Aolasai > That doesn't answer my question. Does the audio stream ever change in its composition?
 [ 2009.07.18 19:42:16 ] Julianus Soter > It does.
 [ 2009.07.18 19:42:18 ] Julianus Soter > /emote continues.
[ 2009.07.18 19:42:38 ] Julianus Soter > Located also within this system was a glyph present on various conduits at multiple compounds.../me displays a holo on the viewscreen: http://i371.photobucket.com/albums/oo160/koronakesh/Wormholes/20090705083405.jpg
 [ 2009.07.18 19:43:12 ] Morwen Lagann > /emote raises her hand, speaking politely > Wrong holo, sir.
 [ 2009.07.18 19:43:14 ] Julianus Soter > Ack.
 [ 2009.07.18 19:43:21 ] Kimochi Rendar > /emote blinks
[ 2009.07.18 19:43:23 ] Julianus Soter > Yes, allow me to bring up the correct image....
 [ 2009.07.18 19:43:27 ] Julianus Soter > That one comes later.
 [ 2009.07.18 19:43:33 ] DeadRow > /emote chuckles
[ 2009.07.18 19:43:34 ] Dex Nederland > Although it looks like there are sizable islands on it
 [ 2009.07.18 19:43:36 ] Acolytus Alwyn > blue planet
[ 2009.07.18 19:43:56 ] Vincent Pryce > /emote rests his hand on Kimochis "My heavens.."
 [ 2009.07.18 19:43:57 ] Julianus Soter > /emote uploads the correct holo: http://i608.photobucket.com/albums/tt162/sma7c/20090716053817.jpg
 [ 2009.07.18 19:44:00 ] Acolytus Alwyn > not Mr Soter's vacation get-away i hope
 [ 2009.07.18 19:44:21 ] Morwen Lagann > /emote smiles, leaning back into her seat.
 [ 2009.07.18 19:44:37 ] Aldrith Shutaq > /emote stares at the new holo unblinkingly.
[ 2009.07.18 19:44:39 ] Kimochi Rendar > /emote sits up as the image of the eye-shaped glyph is displayed
 [ 2009.07.18 19:44:53 ] Tyrias Deveraux > /emote arches a brow at this display.
[ 2009.07.18 19:45:15 ] Aria Jenneth > *Aria, who is, by the way, 1.5, not .5, meters tall, shifts forward in her seat*
[ 2009.07.18 19:45:18 ] Amaterasu Mikoto > /emote shivers slightly at the hologram being projected.
 [ 2009.07.18 19:45:22 ] Edthin > What the hell is that?
[ 2009.07.18 19:45:30 ] Husqi > /emote raises an eyebrow "almost looks like the back of a Wreathe..."
 [ 2009.07.18 19:45:38 ] Captain Plumb > /emote raises a single eyebrow at the image.
[ 2009.07.18 19:45:54 ] Julianus Soter > Obviously, this image appears to be a representation of a human eye. It's symbolism is something utterly unique within sleeper artifacts.
[ 2009.07.18 19:46:15 ] Inara Subaka > /emote's grip on Ama's arm tightens slightly but manages to keep her features at the same level expression she had been using.
[ 2009.07.18 19:46:17 ] Julianus Soter > In the past four months of my experience in w-space exploration, I had not seen something like this.
[ 2009.07.18 19:46:21 ] Aldrith Shutaq > /emote mutters to the air, a tone of horror in his voice, "Why does that look like a human eye?"
 [ 2009.07.18 19:46:28 ] Lyrissa Aolasai > /emote leans back in her seat, unfazed.
 [ 2009.07.18 19:46:36 ] Amaterasu Mikoto > /emote shifts slightly closer to Inara.
 [ 2009.07.18 19:46:40 ] Aria Jenneth > *murmurs* The iris is wrong ...
[ 2009.07.18 19:46:41 ] Morwen Lagann > We don't know, Aldrith, but I was leading that recon party... kinda creepy, huh?
 [ 2009.07.18 19:46:51 ] Vincent Pryce > /emote mutters silently "Intresting..."
 [ 2009.07.18 19:46:53 ] Julianus Soter > It's obviously, a symbol.
 [ 2009.07.18 19:46:55 ] Edthin > /emote nods mutely at Aria's comment.
 [ 2009.07.18 19:46:57 ] Julianus Soter > Perhaps a piece of art.
[ 2009.07.18 19:47:13 ] Julianus Soter > But it is repeated over and over, in the structures we found.
[ 2009.07.18 19:47:22 ] Husqi > Looks almost like a jump gate if you look at it correctly....
[ 2009.07.18 19:47:32 ] Aldrith Shutaq > /emote snaps his eys to Morwen, aghast. "Creepy? Creepy?! Don'y you have any idea what that could mean?!"
 [ 2009.07.18 19:47:51 ] Kharakan > Mr Shutaq, please.
 [ 2009.07.18 19:47:53 ] Aurora Morgan > /emote whispers "It's just an eye Mr. Shutaq..."
 [ 2009.07.18 19:48:08 ] DeadRow > /emote chuckles sliently at Khara.
[ 2009.07.18 19:48:29 ] Julianus Soter > We'll try to decipher the meaning of this eye in the months to come.
[ 2009.07.18 19:48:45 ] Julianus Soter > Our other investigations have turned towards the astrophysics and planets of the Sleeper domain. So far we have discovered nearly ten worlds with oxygen-nitrogen atmospheres,. . .
[ 2009.07.18 19:48:55 ] Aldrith Shutaq > /emote shoots Aurora an indignant glare and grits his teeth, looking back to the holo.
[ 2009.07.18 19:48:57 ] Kimochi Rendar > /emote rolls her eyes slightly at Aldrith, always amused by Capsuleer's tendency towards dramatic knee-jerk reactions
[ 2009.07.18 19:49:03 ] Julianus Soter > with substantial surface water deposits and conditions suitable for various stages of life.
 [ 2009.07.18 19:49:05 ] Morwen Lagann > /emote frowns at Aldrith.
[ 2009.07.18 19:49:26 ] Julianus Soter > /emote continues. > Certain worlds were rendered barren by hard radiation present from local astronomical phenomena, but a surface landing was made on a world orbiting a medium size yellow star.
[ 2009.07.18 19:49:28 ] Norrin Ellis > /emote puts away his datapad, tilts his head back, and closes his eyes.
[ 2009.07.18 19:49:45 ] Julianus Soter > The results of this expedition were rather fruitful.
 [ 2009.07.18 19:50:01 ] Julianus Soter > /emote displays another holo, this time the correct one: http://i371.photobucket.com/albums/oo160/koronakesh/Wormholes/20090705083405.jpg
 [ 2009.07.18 19:50:19 ] Morwen Lagann > /emote chuckles > Pun intended, no doubt.
[ 2009.07.18 19:50:19 ] Julianus Soter > yes, this is the one from before...
 [ 2009.07.18 19:50:38 ] Julianus Soter > Anyway.
[ 2009.07.18 19:50:54 ] Julianus Soter > The planet's northern hemisphere appeared to house a full ecosystem, including herbivores, insects, and flying mammals.
[ 2009.07.18 19:51:42 ] Julianus Soter > We landed at a suitable island, a component of a much larger archipelago, and commenced our expedition.
[ 2009.07.18 19:51:46 ] Julianus Soter > A mining probe was deployed to determine crust composition. The results indicated a number of Karst topographical features, including limestone caves and other formations around our main landing site.
[ 2009.07.18 19:52:16 ] Julianus Soter > Mineral composition scans showed the presence of normal proportions of common elements and resources, including gold, silver, uranium, and other metals.
[ 2009.07.18 19:52:41 ] Julianus Soter > As such, colonization seems possible on a number of these worlds, though with the continuing Sleeper presence it would be suicidal.
[ 2009.07.18 19:53:13 ] Julianus Soter > /emote leaves the final image hanging in the air. > This concludes the Synenose Accord report. I'll now open the floor for questions.
 [ 2009.07.18 19:53:34 ] Edthin > /emote raises his hand, remaining quiet.
 [ 2009.07.18 19:53:36 ] Aldrith Shutaq > /emote hand shoots into the air.
 [ 2009.07.18 19:53:42 ] Julianus Soter > Yes, Edthin?
[ 2009.07.18 19:54:02 ] Edthin > These w-worlds, umm...Class One I blieve their reffered to as. How many have you run into?
 [ 2009.07.18 19:54:16 ] Julianus Soter > As stated, 10.
 [ 2009.07.18 19:54:26 ] Julianus Soter > And. . . Mr. Shutaq?
 [ 2009.07.18 19:55:18 ] Julianus Soter > You had a question?
 [ 2009.07.18 19:55:29 ] Husqi > /emote raises a hand
 [ 2009.07.18 19:55:52 ] Julianus Soter > Alright, then... you there.
[ 2009.07.18 19:55:53 ] Aldrith Shutaq > When you investigated the surface of the planet, did you find and of the lifeforms present were similar, or the same to some found in our cluster? Specifically the ones that have no known 'homeworld' here?
 [ 2009.07.18 19:56:05 ] Julianus Soter > Ah.
 [ 2009.07.18 19:56:23 ] Husqi > /emote smiles waiting his turn wryly
[ 2009.07.18 19:56:35 ] Julianus Soter > The lifeforms were rather standard.... indigenous. We had detected no unusual levels of genetic similarity.
 [ 2009.07.18 19:56:45 ] Aldrith Shutaq > Another question.
 [ 2009.07.18 19:56:54 ] Captain Plumb > /emote raises a hand slowly
[ 2009.07.18 19:56:57 ] Aldrith Shutaq > How far was the blue planet from the star?
 [ 2009.07.18 19:56:59 ] Julianus Soter > /emote glances between Husqi and Aldrith. > Alright.
 [ 2009.07.18 19:57:22 ] Julianus Soter > About one point two AU.
 [ 2009.07.18 19:57:47 ] Aldrith Shutaq > /emote nods.
[ 2009.07.18 19:57:59 ] FIX IT > Do your advanced calculations show how long before the owners come back and whip us for breaking their fence and stealing their apples?
[ 2009.07.18 19:58:04 ] Julianus Soter > We discovered another world previously positioend at one point zero AU.
[ 2009.07.18 19:58:09 ] Husqi > /emote nods "If they can jump without cyno-feilds dose that mean that continued studies of this technolagy could lead to cyno-less jump tech?
[ 2009.07.18 19:58:12 ] Lyrissa Aolasai > /emote raises a hand and just starts speaking > 'There haven't been any examples of Sleepers attacking capsuleer-deployed installations though, have there?'
[ 2009.07.18 19:58:37 ] Aldrith Shutaq > /emote starts at this. "And do you not find that distance more than coincidental?"
 [ 2009.07.18 19:58:39 ] Jonny Damordred > /emote shakes his head
[ 2009.07.18 19:58:51 ] Red Katherine > /emote glances towards the bald Sebiestor, and smiles.
 [ 2009.07.18 19:58:59 ] Julianus Soter > /emote continues.
[ 2009.07.18 19:59:15 ] Julianus Soter > How do you mean, Mr. Shutaq?
[ 2009.07.18 19:59:27 ] Julianus Soter > It's a planet in the habital zone of the solar system...
[ 2009.07.18 19:59:39 ] Julianus Soter > Yes, it even had a moon that provided sufficient tides for it's ocean currents.

3) The lack of suitable male partners can be summed up in most cases thusly: interested, worth the air they breathe, available; pick two.

[ 2009.07.18 20:11:06 ] Aurora Morgan > We don’t know much about ‘natural’ wormholes, and the only one we suspect is the Eve gate, and the other side of that gate cannot be very pleasant, considering the amount of radiation it gives out.
[ 2009.07.18 20:11:22 ] Aurora Morgan > So in our discussion are mere anomalies, and probably not very relevant. But I am sure it is a very interesting phenomena, if you take your time to study them.
[ 2009.07.18 20:11:35 ] Aurora Morgan > The ones of our design, or the ancient jump gates we have found. The ones powering our ships, our jump gates and the ones we create in our labs. They all are built on close to the same technology and the Sotiyo-Urbaata drive seem to have very little ...
[ 2009.07.18 20:11:56 ] Aurora Morgan > in common with the driving force behind the wormholes leading into sleeper territory.
[ 2009.07.18 20:12:10 ] Aurora Morgan > A first difference is the length they cover, our best carrier pilots cannot jump more than 15-20 light years, and with some of the rumored prototype vessels maybe the double.
[ 2009.07.18 20:12:25 ] Aurora Morgan > But the ones forming between our ‘known’ space, and the sleeper territories cover have an euclidean norm that is much longer than any wormholes that we have known, or at least measured before.
[ 2009.07.18 20:12:35 ] Aurora Morgan > The difference is not a mere order of magnitude, but seem to be at least two, possibly even more.

[ 2009.07.18 20:13:17 ] Aurora Morgan > And not only that, but even at that length are they very stable, in a jump gate, or when utilizing a jump drive, we need a massive ‘mass boson sphere’ to spread out a layer to protect us from the perils of the warp.
[ 2009.07.18 20:13:31 ] Aurora Morgan > I’m sure you have all felt the feeling. But when it comes to the newfound ‘unnatural’ ones, even a small micro warp drive seems to be enough to protect even a large ship and it’s crew from the dangers of passing through.
[ 2009.07.18 20:13:49 ] Aurora Morgan > This is partially due to the wormholes relatively special geometry, and also due to the fact that they are extremely stable in both shape and form, and therefore allow us to pass through unharmed.

 [ 2009.07.18 20:15:43 ] Aurora Morgan > tear them apart.
[ 2009.07.18 20:15:54 ] Aurora Morgan > They simply don’t seem to need to hold to the restrictions that applies to our jump gates, that they can only be placed on a node in the interference pattern of the graviton radiation between two stars.
[ 2009.07.18 20:15:59 ] DeadRow > /emote jumps up, blinking and looks around before returning her 'attention' to the speeker
[ 2009.07.18 20:16:14 ] Aurora Morgan > And while it can take years for the wormhole inside a jump gate to form. And when we try to use a jump drive we need an almost infinite amount of energy, we have to feed a very high amount if isotopes into the ships reactors.
[ 2009.07.18 20:16:46 ] Aurora Morgan > A pocket-size sun, converting a part of the mass into pure radiant energy, allowing the ship to cut an infinitesimal hole in space. A process that is not only dangerous to do in all but the most protected ships, but it is almost instant.
[ 2009.07.18 20:17:00 ] Aurora Morgan > Allowing it to create a wormhole leading to a ‘cynosural field’ or other anomaly as you are all aware.
[ 2009.07.18 20:17:47 ] Aurora Morgan > And for those who wondered... standard exploration ships don't utilize cynosural fields when jumping, they can warp without them. It just requires more time and calculations.
[ 2009.07.18 20:17:58 ] Aurora Morgan > For the wormholes leading to sleeper territory, they require some additional time to form. It seem to only take a few hours. But you have to consider the fact that they are stable enough to sustain multiple ships to pass through, not just at one time.
[ 2009.07.18 20:18:10 ] Aurora Morgan > No, time spans up to several days have been observed. And there is no reason to believe that they could not be permanent with an external source, considering their inherent stability.
 [ 2009.07.18 20:18:46 ] Aurora Morgan > /emote waits again, drinking a little water.
 [ 2009.07.18 20:18:46 ] Julianus Soter > /emote nods.
[ 2009.07.18 20:18:57 ] Aurora Morgan > Not only that, but they form with such apparent easy, right before our eyes, and our scanners. And while we can only observe one end, there is nothing that seem to indicate that they need any external source of energy.
[ 2009.07.18 20:19:08 ] Norrin Ellis > /emote gurgles slightly and instantly snaps his eyes open, lurching forward in his seat and coughing a bit.
[ 2009.07.18 20:19:17 ] Aurora Morgan > Almost as if they were planted by a small seed, feeding it, allowing ships to pass for a while before the beautiful flower fades to time.
[ 2009.07.18 20:19:34 ] Aurora Morgan > And when they do collapse, either through time, or simply by enough mass passing through them, it doesn’t seem to be due to the massive graviton fields of the systems containing them.
[ 2009.07.18 20:19:59 ] Aurora Morgan > No, they are inherently very stable and merely disappear because their raison d'être have faded. Because they must have one, we know such things happen without a physical cause, and we believe that each cause have some sort of logic behind it.
[ 2009.07.18 20:20:36 ] Aurora Morgan > What that reason is, we have to look for... if it is ‘sleepers’, god... or mere humans...
 [ 2009.07.18 20:20:47 ] Kimochi Rendar > /emote blinks, struggling to follow somewhat
[ 2009.07.18 20:21:28 ] Aurora Morgan > /emote stops and seems quite uncomfortable with the silence "Well... we're kind of running out of time... do we have time for some questions intendant?"

[ 2009.07.18 20:34:02 ] Morwen Lagann > /emote takes a quick breath and continues > Sleeper armor is primarily made of fullerene alloys much stronger than the tritanium-based alloys that are  used in the construction of vessels that we are familiar with.
[ 2009.07.18 20:35:24 ] Morwen Lagann > One particularly interesting feature of this armor that scans have shown -- specifically on Sleeper vessels -- is that it appears equally resistant to any "type" of damage, be it electromagnetic radiation or the kinetic force of a railgun charge.
[ 2009.07.18 20:36:01 ] Morwen Lagann > This, despite sounding as if it could be something one would need to worry about in the event of combat, is actually something that is to ouradvantage, not the Sleepers'.
[ 2009.07.18 20:36:47 ] Morwen Lagann > /emote presses the button again, causing small icons of the standard armament types to appear overlaid on the holo of the Sleeper vessel.
[ 2009.07.18 20:37:31 ] Morwen Lagann > Instead of having to worry about selecting an armament that is particular to your opponent's weaknesses... it becomes merely a question of damage output.
[ 2009.07.18 20:38:06 ] Morwen Lagann > /emote presses the button again, displaying another holo, this time of a Sleeper's laser discharge.
[ 2009.07.18 20:38:27 ] Morwen Lagann > Of course, a fleet or gang also has to worry about controlling the amount of damage taken from the Sleeper vessels in the process.
[ 2009.07.18 20:39:14 ] Morwen Lagann > The Sleepers' offensive systems appear to be primarily based on laser and missile technology similar to our own, but in a rather interesting way.
[ 2009.07.18 20:40:21 ] Morwen Lagann > Like their armor, which is not particularly resistant towards a given 'type' of damage... their weapons are capable of taking full advantage of 'holes' in one's defenses.
[ 2009.07.18 20:41:12 ] Morwen Lagann > Their lasers, like the one shown here, are capable of inflicting damage through more than just electromagnetic radiation and heat, and their ballistic systems also use hybrid warheads.
[ 2009.07.18 20:42:08 ] Morwen Lagann > /emote pauses for a moment, taking a sip of water before bringing up an image of a pair of Sleeper cruisers that appear to be repairing each other.
[ 2009.07.18 20:43:06 ] Morwen Lagann > Sleeper drones, in addition to having local repair mechanisms, have also been seen on a number of occasions to make use of remote repairs. Spider-tanks, as the capsuleer slang calls it.
[ 2009.07.18 20:43:29 ] Inara Subaka > /emote watches Morwen speaking while continuously scanning the crowds, occasionally patting Ama's hand comfortingly.
[ 2009.07.18 20:44:13 ] Amaterasu Mikoto > /emote seems to have relaxed a bit as she listens to Morwen speaking.
[ 2009.07.18 20:44:44 ] Morwen Lagann > /emote brings up another image, this time of a small Sleeper frigate drone using what appears to be an energy neutralizer on an Apocalypse-class battleship.
[ 2009.07.18 20:45:11 ] Aldrith Shutaq > /emote listens, but seems preoccupied now, his eyes someimtes glancing off.
[ 2009.07.18 20:46:03 ] Morwen Lagann > They also use various forms of electronic and capacitor warfare, ranging from energy neutralizers as seen here, to something akin to our own "stasis webs" and warp drive jammers.
[ 2009.07.18 20:46:27 ] Morwen Lagann > All of these pose a significant threat to any vessel caught in their path... however...
[ 2009.07.18 20:47:01 ] Morwen Lagann > /emote brings up an image of a Scorpion, surrounded by several smaller ships, including a Myrmidon and a pair of Harbingers.
[ 2009.07.18 20:47:17 ] Morwen Lagann > ... they are extremely vulnerable to electronic countermeasures.
 [ 2009.07.18 20:47:57 ] Acolytus Alwyn > /emote leans forward
 [ 2009.07.18 20:48:00 ] Julianus Soter > /emote nods.
[ 2009.07.18 20:48:03 ] Morwen Lagann > A single Scorpion-class battleship can effectively shut down an entire wing of Sleepers, and this makes ECM a staple part of any fleet working in wormhole space.
 [ 2009.07.18 20:48:34 ] Red Katherine > Really? *makes a note*
 [ 2009.07.18 20:48:49 ] Mebrithiel Ju'wien > /emote visibly perks up
[ 2009.07.18 20:48:52 ] Morwen Lagann > There is no way around it, particularly in more dangerous systems. You simply must have a Scorpion or other ECM-specialized ship with you.
[ 2009.07.18 20:49:08 ] SelfEnemy > put yor notes this they imediatly targeting Ewar ship of yours :)
 [ 2009.07.18 20:49:29 ] DeadRow > Can't target if they can't lock.
 [ 2009.07.18 20:49:34 ] Morwen Lagann > /emote pauses for a moment, fiddling with the datapad for a second.
 [ 2009.07.18 20:49:42 ] Conall Gunnr > /emote smiles at this new development
[ 2009.07.18 20:49:56 ] SelfEnemy > well turst me they shoot it down sometimes..
[ 2009.07.18 20:50:16 ] DeadRow > Of course they shoot it. Thats why you back the ECM-Ship up.
[ 2009.07.18 20:50:59 ] Morwen Lagann > /emote presses a button and brings up an image of a facility that should appear familar to those paying attention to Julianus' talk: http://i371.photobucket.com/albums/oo160/koronakesh/Wormholes/Isotopecache.jpg
[ 2009.07.18 20:51:03 ] SelfEnemy > with less defensive purpose on your ewar ship when its targeted by lets say 10 bs.. that ship of yours dies in a second
[ 2009.07.18 20:51:19 ] Aria Jenneth > Silence, please. *Aria's voice is soft, but carries through the speaker system*
[ 2009.07.18 20:51:37 ] DeadRow > /emote looks about to reply but nods to Aria and settles back down
[ 2009.07.18 20:51:45 ] Morwen Lagann > The next thing I'd like to discuss, momentarily, is Sleeper propulsion systems.
[ 2009.07.18 20:52:59 ] Morwen Lagann > They are not dissimilar to our own... however their FTL systems remain a mystery. We know they are capable of scanning down and tracking our ships, and that they are more than capable of -- and willing to -- follow and ambush us in some cases.
[ 2009.07.18 20:54:00 ] Morwen Lagann > We don't know how they move between star systems in their part of space. They must have some system of doing so, be it by the wormholes that we have been making use of, or perhaps even isogen-five.
[ 2009.07.18 20:54:10 ] Morwen Lagann > /emote gestures to the holo image displayed behind her.
[ 2009.07.18 20:54:41 ] Morwen Lagann > This facility, as Intendant Soter mentioned before, was used to transport a very large mass to an unknown location.
 [ 2009.07.18 20:55:03 ] Julianus Soter > /emote nods.
[ 2009.07.18 20:55:53 ] Morwen Lagann > In addition... among the things that we have brought back from our expeditions are what appear to be jump drive control units.
[ 2009.07.18 20:56:41 ] Morwen Lagann > Why the Sleepers would have these is anyone's guess -- it could be vestigial, so to speak, or it could be actively used. We simply don't know.
[ 2009.07.18 20:57:10 ] Aldrith Shutaq > /emote listens more closely again, his hand held to his chin.
[ 2009.07.18 20:57:30 ] Morwen Lagann > In the end, all we know in this regard is that the Sleepers are capable of moving large masses -- on the order of a capital vessel or even larger -- very long distances. But where to... how, and why remain a mystery.
[ 2009.07.18 20:58:00 ] Morwen Lagann > And... *she pauses* ... on the subject of mysteries... what do we not know about Sleeper technology?
[ 2009.07.18 20:58:43 ] Morwen Lagann > We don't know how their ships are manufactured, or where. No-one has brought back images, holos or scans of any sort of manufacturing plant or construction yards.
[ 2009.07.18 20:59:07 ] Morwen Lagann > We don't know how these vessels -- or the structures that are so similar to them in design -- have lasted as long as they have.
[ 2009.07.18 21:00:18 ] Morwen Lagann > We've seen two different 'sets' of Sleeper drones as well... those that are old and visibly so through scars of microcollisions and interstellar radiation, and those that are pristine, new, even.
 [ 2009.07.18 21:00:55 ] Julianus Soter > /emote checks his chrono.
[ 2009.07.18 21:00:59 ] Morwen Lagann > And of course... what do -- or did -- they use isogen-five for, and how might it be connected to their technology and what we see around us?
[ 2009.07.18 21:01:30 ] Morwen Lagann > /emote smiles, looking out over the crowd > I don't have the answers to these questions yet. Perhaps some of you do. Or maybe we'll find out on the other side of that next wormhole.
 [ 2009.07.18 21:01:48 ] Julianus Soter > /emote smiles and nods.
[ 2009.07.18 21:01:54 ] Morwen Lagann > Is there time for a few questions, Intendant?
 [ 2009.07.18 21:02:06 ] Julianus Soter > Some,.
 [ 2009.07.18 21:02:16 ] Vikarion > /emote raises a hand
 [ 2009.07.18 21:02:28 ] Morwen Lagann > Yes, Vikarion?
 [ 2009.07.18 21:03:05 ] Kimochi Rendar > /emote also raises a hand
[ 2009.07.18 21:03:16 ] Vikarion > What makes the higher-class wormholes more dangerous? Are there simply more Sleepers, or do they have advanced models?
[ 2009.07.18 21:03:23 ] Amaterasu Mikoto > /emote slowly raises her hand, which trembles slightly.
 [ 2009.07.18 21:03:43 ] Morwen Lagann > It is a little of both.
[ 2009.07.18 21:04:11 ] Evanda Char > /emote peeks round the side of the door and picks the closest seat as she returns
[ 2009.07.18 21:04:22 ] Julianus Soter > The quantity of squadrons assigned to a given facility increases exponentially.
[ 2009.07.18 21:04:42 ] Julianus Soter > In a class six, for example, three might be scores of frigates, two dozen cruisers, and about twenty battleships.
[ 2009.07.18 21:04:44 ] Morwen Lagann > In addition, we have found that they are more likely to use electronic warfare in those systems.
 [ 2009.07.18 21:04:57 ] Vlad Cetes > /emote indicates a question
[ 2009.07.18 21:04:59 ] Morwen Lagann > And... they will attempt to follow you if you try to escape.
 [ 2009.07.18 21:05:01 ] Julianus Soter > /emote coughs. > There, rather.
 [ 2009.07.18 21:05:12 ] Vikarion > Interesting
[ 2009.07.18 21:05:15 ] Morwen Lagann > Miss Rendar, you first... then Amaterasu.
 [ 2009.07.18 21:05:31 ] Sharu Amnell > /emote raises a hand
 [ 2009.07.18 21:05:33 ] SelfEnemy > /emote raises a hand
 [ 2009.07.18 21:05:36 ] Julianus Soter > And after Amaterasu, I think we'll have a closing statement...
[ 2009.07.18 21:05:53 ] Kimochi Rendar > Just how effective are sleeper weapons and armour compared to our own technology?
[ 2009.07.18 21:06:18 ] Morwen Lagann > Well, like I said earlier, they are not specific to one damage "type" as we classify them.
 [ 2009.07.18 21:06:44 ] Morwen Lagann > But... they are very effective.
 [ 2009.07.18 21:06:51 ] Julianus Soter > /emote nods.
 [ 2009.07.18 21:07:05 ] Julianus Soter > /emote uploads a datasheet to the presentation screen:  Heuristic Selfassemblers
[ 2009.07.18 21:07:13 ] Julianus Soter > These assemblers are the backbone of their defense.
 [ 2009.07.18 21:07:31 ] Edthin > /emote gives a low whistle.
[ 2009.07.18 21:07:36 ] Morwen Lagann > I've only seen combat in a class three system, but there I have had my Myrmidon's shields reduced to nothing within two volleys on a number of occasions.
[ 2009.07.18 21:07:45 ] Kimochi Rendar > I see.. So they modulate their defense and offence based on the capabilities of their target?
 [ 2009.07.18 21:07:51 ] Morwen Lagann > Presumably, yes.
 [ 2009.07.18 21:08:13 ] Kimochi Rendar > Interesting stuff...
 [ 2009.07.18 21:08:24 ] Morwen Lagann > /emote nods, smiling > Amaterasu?
 [ 2009.07.18 21:08:29 ] Lucius Vindictus > /emote takes notes on his datapad.
 [ 2009.07.18 21:09:14 ] Amaterasu Mikoto > /emote takes a moment to find her voice. "Umm....if...if they c-can jump...alone...c-can't they...or...why d-don't they...f-follow us back?"
 [ 2009.07.18 21:09:26 ] Morwen Lagann > /emote smiles > A good question.
[ 2009.07.18 21:10:25 ] Morwen Lagann > We don't know the answer to this... perhaps they are only concerned with keeping us out of their space, rather than launching a counter-attack.
[ 2009.07.18 21:10:25 ] Julianus Soter > That would be up to the judgment of the Sleeper itself...
[ 2009.07.18 21:10:46 ] Aldrith Shutaq > /emote taps his fingers together, partly lost in his own thoughts as he listens.
 [ 2009.07.18 21:10:56 ] Julianus Soter > /emote nods. > We simply don't have enough data at the moment.
[ 2009.07.18 21:10:58 ] SelfEnemy > Programed not to follow but kill anything comes to site :)
[ 2009.07.18 21:11:06 ] Morwen Lagann > If... that is all, I believe Miss Jenneth is... making the closing statements this evening?
 [ 2009.07.18 21:11:17 ] SelfEnemy > /emote raises a hand
 [ 2009.07.18 21:11:32 ] Morwen Lagann > /emote looks at Julianus.
 [ 2009.07.18 21:11:39 ] Julianus Soter > We don't have any more time for questions, I'm afraid.
 [ 2009.07.18 21:11:45 ] Julianus Soter > Aria, if you would?
 [ 2009.07.18 21:11:50 ] Morwen Lagann > /emote nods > Thank you all for your time.
[ 2009.07.18 21:11:51 ] Amaterasu Mikoto > /emote folds her hands in her lap, ducking her head and leaning against Inara.
[ 2009.07.18 21:12:12 ] Morwen Lagann > /emote unplugs her datapad, then walks back down to her seat.
[ 2009.07.18 21:12:21 ] Aria Jenneth > *Aria applauds as she rises* Thank you, Ms. Lagann.
[ 2009.07.18 21:12:28 ] Inara Subaka > /emote wraps an arm around her protectively and whispers something only she can hear.
 [ 2009.07.18 21:12:30 ] Aldrith Shutaq > /emote applauds loudly.
 [ 2009.07.18 21:12:32 ] Aurora Morgan > /emote applauds.
 [ 2009.07.18 21:12:33 ] Vikarion > /emote claps
 [ 2009.07.18 21:12:36 ] Amaterasu Mikoto > /emote joins the applause.
 [ 2009.07.18 21:12:40 ] Vincent Pryce > /emote applauds
 [ 2009.07.18 21:12:41 ] Edthin > /emote gives a few claps "Top shelf indeed..."
 [ 2009.07.18 21:12:43 ] Myrhial Arkenath > /emote applauds as well
 [ 2009.07.18 21:12:43 ] Julianus Soter > /emote claps as well.
 [ 2009.07.18 21:12:43 ] HavvieG > /emote adds to the applause.
 [ 2009.07.18 21:12:45 ] SelfEnemy > /emote applauds
 [ 2009.07.18 21:12:45 ] Morwen Lagann > /emote blushes a little as she sits down.
 [ 2009.07.18 21:12:50 ] Evanda Char > /emote applauds, smiling
 [ 2009.07.18 21:12:51 ] Conall Gunnr > /emote woots
 [ 2009.07.18 21:12:52 ] DeadRow > /emote applauds
[ 2009.07.18 21:12:54 ] LadyZelda > /emote wakes up from the clapping and starts to aplaud as well.
 [ 2009.07.18 21:12:56 ] Kimochi Rendar > /emote also applauds
[ 2009.07.18 21:12:58 ] Aria Jenneth > /emote makes her way up to the podium*
[ 2009.07.18 21:13:20 ] Aldrith Shutaq > /emote gives Morwen and Aurora an earnest look. "You both did great."
[ 2009.07.18 21:13:28 ] Aria Jenneth > *she stands with eyes closed, head bowed, as she waits for the applause to die down*
 [ 2009.07.18 21:13:29 ] Morwen Lagann > Thanks...
[ 2009.07.18 21:13:41 ] Myrhial Arkenath > /emote sits up in her chair as Aria takes the stage
[ 2009.07.18 21:13:53 ] DeadRow > /emote leans closer to Aldrith, Morwen and Aurora. Talking quietly > Well done, guys.
 [ 2009.07.18 21:14:00 ] Aldrith Shutaq > Really... wonderful.
[ 2009.07.18 21:14:27 ] Rathnon Domitras > /emote finds a chair close to Myrhial and sits down applauding
 [ 2009.07.18 21:14:31 ] Morwen Lagann > /emote blushes a little redder > Thanks...
 [ 2009.07.18 21:14:33 ] Aurora Morgan > /emote blushes "T-thank you."
[ 2009.07.18 21:15:09 ] Aria Jenneth > /emote lifts her head and opens her eyes as the applause fades* "We don't know."
 [ 2009.07.18 21:15:27 ] Aria Jenneth > We've been hearing those words a lot, since Seyllin I fell, haven't we?
 [ 2009.07.18 21:15:44 ] Aurora Morgan > /emote nods.
 [ 2009.07.18 21:15:45 ] Red Katherine > /emote nods.
 [ 2009.07.18 21:15:58 ] Morwen Lagann > /emote nods solemnly.
 [ 2009.07.18 21:16:02 ] Aldrith Shutaq > /emote turns his attention to Aria.
[ 2009.07.18 21:16:03 ] Aria Jenneth > Humans fear the unknown. We tend to voice this as a criticism, but it's not without good reason.
[ 2009.07.18 21:16:57 ] Vincent Pryce > /emote takes Kimochis hand and squeezes it, seekign solace.
[ 2009.07.18 21:17:25 ] Aria Jenneth > In earlier days, the dark of night could easily hide a hidden hazard, from a cliffside to a low-hanging branch ... to predators, whether they went on four legs or two.
[ 2009.07.18 21:17:29 ] Kimochi Rendar > /emote squeezes Vince's hand back before craning to try and see the tiny Achuran a bit better
[ 2009.07.18 21:18:04 ] Aria Jenneth > What we do not know haunts us. It fills our imaginations with suppositions, "what ifs," fantasies about what might come.
[ 2009.07.18 21:18:56 ] Aria Jenneth > Tonight you have heard some good, solid information. Clearly, we capsuleers know more about the Sleepers than we did a few months ago.
[ 2009.07.18 21:19:56 ] Aria Jenneth > ... but what you have heard is the information a single candle reveals in the Sleepers' vast, seemingly lifeless citadel.
[ 2009.07.18 21:21:14 ] Aria Jenneth > "What we know" may loom large in our minds. It forms the basis of conclusions-- some of them no doubt founded. But "what we do not know" looms impossibly larger, and we must not forget how thin our knowledge remains.
[ 2009.07.18 21:21:43 ] Aria Jenneth > Some have suggested that the Sleepers merely wish to be left alone, that we risk provoking them with our explorations.
[ 2009.07.18 21:22:06 ] Aria Jenneth > Others believe that the Sleepers intend our suppression-- even our extinction.
[ 2009.07.18 21:22:48 ] Aria Jenneth > The Sleepers do not follow us through the wormholes. This is true.
[ 2009.07.18 21:23:43 ] Aria Jenneth > But the Sleepers also do not communicate with us through any means but death. The first CreoDron expedition, likely launched from this very station, was destroyed utterly.
[ 2009.07.18 21:24:43 ] Aria Jenneth > There are signs of mass movement, signs of awakening, signs of newly developed Sleeper vessels and even bioengineering.
[ 2009.07.18 21:25:21 ] Aria Jenneth > What is the intent behind all of this? What is the purpose? We do not know.
[ 2009.07.18 21:26:25 ] Aria Jenneth > What we do know is that the Sleepers are reacting to something-- and that something is almost certainly us. Is this because of our intrusion? Or because we are simply within reach?
 [ 2009.07.18 21:26:28 ] Aria Jenneth > Again, we do not know.
[ 2009.07.18 21:27:27 ] Aria Jenneth > And because we do not know, we must make the effort to learn. The Sleepers do not share their secrets, so for fear that they will use those secrets against us we have no choice but to intrude on their domain.
[ 2009.07.18 21:28:42 ] Aria Jenneth > Do these projects, these probings, into their territory anger the Sleepers, turn them against us? That is possible. But it is clear that they were not our friends to begin with, and the question of why becomes ever more important.
[ 2009.07.18 21:30:05 ] Kimochi Rendar > /emote tilts her head slightly as she listens
[ 2009.07.18 21:30:33 ] Dex Nederland > /emote stands up in the back, stretching his legs
[ 2009.07.18 21:30:44 ] Aria Jenneth > They Synenose Accord was created to resolve these mysteries, capsuleers of many backgrounds working towards this single purpose. Because whatever the Sleepers are, whatever they intend ... we are in this together.
[ 2009.07.18 21:31:34 ] Aria Jenneth > And together, we must learn what there is for us to discover. Thank you for your presence here, and for your support.
 [ 2009.07.18 21:31:51 ] Aria Jenneth > /emote bows*
 [ 2009.07.18 21:31:54 ] HavvieG > /emote stands and begins to slowly applaud.
 [ 2009.07.18 21:31:59 ] Aldrith Shutaq > /emote applauds heartily.
 [ 2009.07.18 21:32:02 ] Aurora Morgan > /emote claps her hands.
 [ 2009.07.18 21:32:02 ] Vincent Pryce > /emote applauds
 [ 2009.07.18 21:32:03 ] Julianus Soter > /emote claps.
 [ 2009.07.18 21:32:04 ] DeadRow > /emote stand and applauds
 [ 2009.07.18 21:32:13 ] Rathnon Domitras > /emote considers her words whilst applauding
 [ 2009.07.18 21:32:13 ] Morwen Lagann > /emote stands up, applauding.
 [ 2009.07.18 21:32:16 ] Conall Gunnr > /emote whistles and applauds
 [ 2009.07.18 21:32:17 ] Vikarion > /emote applauds
 [ 2009.07.18 21:32:17 ] Dex Nederland > /emote claps and hits a button on his datapad
 [ 2009.07.18 21:32:17 ] Jonny Damordred > /emote facepalms
 [ 2009.07.18 21:32:24 ] Inara Subaka > /emote whistles but keeps her seat.
 [ 2009.07.18 21:32:26 ] Captain Plumb > /emote applauds
 [ 2009.07.18 21:32:29 ] Red Katherine > /emote claps and nods.
[ 2009.07.18 21:32:35 ] Tyrias Deveraux > /emote claps slowly from his spot in the back corner of the auditorium, the same amused smile, or smirk on his face.
 [ 2009.07.18 21:32:36 ] Myrhial Arkenath > /emote applauds

Lagging Behind

Morwen's Law:
1) The number of capsuleer women who are bisexual is greater than the number who are lesbian.
2) Most of the former group appear lesbian due to a lack of suitable male partners to go around.
3) The lack of suitable male partners can be summed up in most cases thusly: interested, worth the air they breathe, available; pick two.
