Start fresh or stay a Vet?
« on: 07 May 2017, 08:05 »

I have mulled over returning to the game for at least 6 years but life and the time that Eve demands to do anything have never really come together for me.

That said, I have more time now and I do miss blowing things up with my Tempest. So would it be better to come back with a new character and experience it all again from the ground up or should I keep the old character? Is the tutorial system actually competent? Can I learn things through most missions in empire or would I have to find a mentor like the old days? Also is Graelyn still a crusty jerk? He never writes, answers my calls, it's kind of depressing really.

I went back and forth with this myself but I find myself spending far more time on other, newer characters than Casi. She's basically just my Jita alt at this point.

However, I dunno if I'd call the tutorial really competent. There was a big deal made about the NPE, but the stuff it teaches is stuff you're unlikely to have forgotten (how to orbit and F1, etc.) The things that really matter to vets will require research and socialization, like everything else that matters in EVE.

Good luck and welcome back!

The tutorial / NPE is actually pretty cool and worth playing through.  Much more cinematic than anything done in EVE previously.  There's even voice acting!

There's no reason not to also fire up the vet character and do some Tempest pewpew.  Even for the vet character there are lots of new ships that are super fun for you to train into. T3 Dessies, in particular, are pretty cool!

Come back Lucian \o/

I work for BEWBS!!! You know this!!! That said, I will hit you up when I get back, hearing that the Tutorial is much improved, is quite enticing. Now to figure out which ships suck and which down for both PVP and PVE

I'm beginning to think that I'm Graelyn's younger, prettier twin.
