That, even on non-capsuleer vessels, ship command sections are designed to be sheared off and function as an escape capsule? (The Burning Life p. 85)

Gonna be amazing in small, fast ships and Capitals (dat precise control).

Relatively pointless in anything bigger than a cruiser but smaller than a Carrier.

Interesting implications for racing?

Emphasis mine.

It's technically a 1sec tick but it's still gonna be hilarious to see how well (or poorly) it works in practice.

Morwen's Law:
1) The number of capsuleer women who are bisexual is greater than the number who are lesbian.
2) Most of the former group appear lesbian due to a lack of suitable male partners to go around.
3) The lack of suitable male partners can be summed up in most cases thusly: interested, worth the air they breathe, available; pick two.

It will be interesting to see if they decide to take this even further and start supporting joysticks and stuff. That might indicate it is more an impression of pressure from things like Elite and Star Citizen, rather than a focus group in Iceland. Also, seems sort of awkward as a control scheme unless they are also locking the view on the ship.

Between this and the clone thing, I thought they were doing a really late April Fools thing for a second, because that is two awfully big changes.

A nice addition, one that I hope works well for those who use it.

Interesting, I was thinking the opposite, I would love to be able to use this in combination with camera turning around my ship. But maybe that's the sub-warp racer in me.

It's not. Star Trek Online uses this control scheme and it works perfectly fine when your camera isn't locked onto your ship. It's actually more useful in combat to have it locked onto your target than in a chasecam position.

Well, it should be interesting to try out, at least. They use WASD in STO, then?

Damn it anyway, people. I'm already bad enough at PvP. Now people are going to be manually flying circles around me.
