Physical Description:
A lean and muscular frame from his life in his father's company, usually spotted wearing the uniform of his current employer or a suit of Imperial Marine infantry armor. Hair is short, cropped. Can usually be spotted with a drink, or at least with his flask on him. Recently took to smoking cigars, and on occasion may have a stub of one clamped between his teeth.
Psychological Description:
Raphael’s upbringing on a mining station and status as a commoner created a heavy disdain for those of noble birth, who he sees as not having worked to earn their status. He will hide this disdain behind pleasantries if an ally unless he believes himself to be on equal footing (i.e. an equal rank within an organization). In the same vein, having worked hard to get the success he has experienced, he will show subtle hostility to those who have been granted great success with little or no effort, or those he perceives so.
The destruction of the mining station his father owned and the piracy he has seen as a capsuleer have served to harden him, and he is almost entirely on guard, but can become quite sociable in tranquil circumstances. Is also steadfast in the beliefs he holds, and will react to any perceived challenge to them. Can become obstinate if challenged while he perceives a slight.
HISTORY
Raphael Saint is the only son of commoners Caspar Saint (deceased) and Balthasa Gherihn. Raised in an orbital station above Lossa III, Raphael was brought up in an atmosphere of hard labor. Raphael worked for his father’s mining company, taking command of it upon his father’s death.
Having worked side-by-side with Ammatar workers in the company, Raphael Saint has a much greater appreciation for them than most other True Amarrians. Has employed the use of Kameiras in his capsuleer career and holds them in high regard. Was once romantically involved with an Ammatar co-worker in his father’s company.
Views on slavery are somewhat neutral. Has no qualms as long as the slaves are treated civilly and are enslaved for reforming (unenlightened, criminals, prisoners of war), but will be quick to condemn slavery of any other kind.
Having spent most of his capsuleer days in the service of PIE Inc, most of Raphael’s activities take place on the battlefield between the Empire and the Republic. Rose to the rank of Tribunus Colonel within the Imperial Navy from his services to the Empire in the 24th Imperial Crusade, and has used this to his advantage a number of times. Has served both in combat fleets and offensive/defensive territorial actions.
Commoner status and temperament has led to numerous quarrels (and two near-fist fights) within the Praetoria, but discretion on the part of both parties has led to little disciplinary action. Has led to few friendships within the corporation, but those held are reinforced by strong loyalty.
Had a romantic relationship with fellow Praetorian Shalee Lianne, at one point the two being engaged, before she broke of the relationship and became involved with a general of the TLF. Devastated by the combined loss and personal blow, Raphael has since focused all of his attention on the war front, trying to push the memories from his mind while at the same time struggling with the feelings he still holds.
House loyalties lie with the Tash-Murkon family, from both having grown up in their region and from the family having risen from wealthy commonership to holder status and Imperial family. Holds disdain for the Khanid Kingdom because of their recent attempts to renter the Empire proper, since it was their departure from the Empire that allowed the Tash-Murkon family to rise. This may sometimes manifest when interacting with those of Khanid descent.
EMPLOYMENT HISTORY:
Aegis Heavy Engineering [SHUTZ]: The first capsuleer corporation that he took part in, Aegis Heavy Engineering was the mining company his father owned relauched as a complete industrial corporation, practicing mining, construction, and invention. Currently under the watch of his long time friend, Gabriel Zakros, while Raphael is serving within the Praetoria.
Praetoria Imperialis Excubitoris [PIE]: PIE Inc is a well known and historied Amarrian loyalist corporation. Having joined to pay off a debt to God he believed he owed, Raphael has been serving for almost a year. Struggles within the organization has led to him almost leeaving the organization a few times, but he has always had something or someone to pull him back.
