News:

that the Minmatar military specifically recruits hardened criminals for service in its elite Valklear units, and that many of the Republic's most senior officers were originally recruited in this way?

It's still known as "Cub X". D'you think maybe we should petition Dudley Zoo and suggest the name Skadi?

Did they say the cub is 'cattivating'?

Also, if it turns out to be male, I'm not sure it wants to be called 'Skadi'.

Do it tbh.  It's as good a name as any and another way of bringing the community into the spotlight if only for a moment.

I'm Shiori, and I approve of this message. It's an okay name even if it's a boy cub, it's not like his mates are going to be bullying him over it.

maybe

What the fuck is wrong with you that you would consider this word appropriate for that question? :P

Of course we should be petitioning them about it!

Morwen's Law:

2) Most of the former group appear lesbian due to a lack of suitable male partners to go around.
3) The lack of suitable male partners can be summed up in most cases thusly: interested, worth the air they breathe, available; pick two.

Do it. Do it now.

For great justice.

I like the implications of Gallentians being punched in the face by walking up to a Minmatar as they so freely use another person's culture as a fad.

So here's the message I'm planning on sending them:

Quote
Dear Dudley Zoological Gardens,

I am a member of a player community of the online game "EVE Online" and would like to extend our collective congratulations on the birth of "Cub X", the snow leopard. We have something of a soft-spot for snow leopards in our little circle - our group has a "running joke" about a snow leopard cub called Skadi, and we couldn't resist the opportunity to suggest this as a potential name for the little one.

The name "Skadi" derives from Norse mythology, and is the name of an Ice Giantess who was also a goddess associated with hunting, winter and mountains. I hope you'll agree, it's an appropriate name for a snow leopard.

Whatever you choose, congratulations again on the new arrival and we hope the cub continues to grow up healthy and strong."

Any thoughts on how it could be improved? I'd like to send it fairly soon.

As with all zoo-sponsored contests to name an adorable animal, my answer shall be, and forever will be, Chainsawface Shotgunstein.

It's about as good as I can think of making it. Simple, honest and to the point.

You better have sent this message to them by now.  ;)
