Rule number one of empire RP, at least for myself? Don't RP your faction as the good guys. RP your faction as your faction. Ie. "Self-righteous, meddling, pompous and tiresome" for the Gallente

Except that people invariably do see themselves as the good guys, even when committing acts of great evil.

I'm pretty sure that Stalin didn't go around cackling manically and saying "Look how evil I am" whilst signing off all those death warrants.  He would have said "It's regrettable, but it's for the greater good"
