Anette's artificial intelligences
« on: 30 Mar 2012, 11:07 »

As Anette Inhonores has risen in stature over the past couple of years, it has been necessary for her brand to employ a small collection of various artificial intelligences to assist in her day-to-day activities. Anette is below the age of majority, and so it is illegal for her to outfit neural implants that may otherwise negate the need for AI assistants.

Anette currently has five artificial intelligence units that she uses. Initially starting with CAT (which was used before she achieved fame), the other AIs now include SANDY, PRISH, TOMIKO and FATIMA. Each serve their own role and purpose, and each have their own distinct appearance and personality as preadolescent girls within Anette's age range. Each can change to adult form if necessary, such as for Anette's father, General Seriphyn Inhonores, who was the one to contract several AI developers from CreoDron and Duvolle Laboratories to code the AIs, all for an undisclosed fee. All five characters are examples of weak AI, meaning they cannot extend beyond the boundaries of their programming. Nonetheless, they are benchmark examples of the Gallentean expertise in artificial intelligence. Much of their advanced programming lay in their character and personable user interface. Their actual subroutines are not any more capable than AIs used by a variety of Federation corporations.

SANDY (Security And Network Defence Yeoman)
Sandy is responsible for overseeing all private protection regimes for Anette Inhonores, including the organizing of the Temko PMC bodyguards employed by General Inhonores for the Anette brand. In addition, she protects the private data networks, security systems (including residential) and communication routers for the Inhonores family. Rumours abound amongst media circles of those from the Federation's underbelly who would attempt to hack the Inhonores personal network for immoral purposes.

Sandy appears as a mixed Brutor/Gallente tomboy, with a distinctive pixie haircut and protective personality. She is often seen wearing sports or military wear, such as tanktops and cargo trousers.

CAT (Child-Assigned Tracker)
Cat started off as simply a spherical, flight-capable drone with a holoscreen and a pair of characteristic cat ears upon its chassis. It was the first drone AI developed personally by Seriphyn Inhonores for Anette, though it has since been upgraded with CreoDron's assistance. Cat maintains this vessel, though now has a fully anthromorphic avatar as well.

Cat acts as an assistant to Sandy, physically present with Anette at all times in public spaces. It monitors the immediate surroundings for any and all threats, feeding information back to Sandy for a more comprehensive assessment. Cat also acts as a camera drone for initiating communications with Anette, and a secondary link whenever the girl decides to turn off her transponder (especially in cases when her father acts overbearing).

Cat is completely mute, normally expressing itself/herself through various smiley face emoticons on the drone's holoscreen. The visual avatar of Cat is simply a girl dressed in an inoffensive feline costume. However, the adult version's outfit is decidedly provocative in design.

PRISH (Public Relations and Information Sorting Helper)
Prish serves as a secretary for the purposes of sorting mail and maintaining communications with both the media and fanbase, as well as sorting through all GalNet and fluid router data regarding the Anette brand. Initially, MACEE (MAil and Communications Electronic Executive) served this role, along with calendar and time-planning. Eventually, Macee's processing power could no longer keep up with the larger volumes of data, and thus was terminated. She was replaced by TOMIKO.

As a weak AI will never have the same grasp of human relations as an actual human, Prish mostly serves as an intermediary between Anette and her full-time PR staff. Prish also acts as the primary assistant AI to these professionals, cutting her time between Anette and the staff.

Prish is an Intaki girl who often wears a business sari, varying in colour and style depending on the time and season.

TOMIKO (Time and Orderly Management Interface COllator)
Tomiko was created after Macee was terminated for her inferior programming. This AI acts as Anette's calendar and event planner, and secondarily books all transport between planets and locations (though this often falls under human oversight). Tomiko is meticulous and highly-efficient in keeping the timetable in check, and rarely allows Anette to be late for any planned occassion. Anette rarely stops moving with Tomiko around.

Tomiko is either a Jin-Mei or Achuran girl (difficult to tell which) in a plain, asymmetric Gallente/Caldari business suit, varying between monochrome colours and tones. Her hair is commonly bound up with a set of kuashi.

FATIMA (Fashion And Trends Intelligent Monitoring Assistant)
Fatima came as a necessity to keep up with the ever-changing Gallentean fashion scenes. Anette found herself visiting various planets with differing fashion habits and trends. Sometimes, her choice of clothing would offend the local population, resulting in a poor reception overall. Fatima negates this problem by monitoring all fashion channels across hundreds of Federation worlds, noting what is currently selling and what is going out of fashion. Fatima then provides feedback to either Anette or her human image consultants as to what is the most fashionable and/or appropiate to wear for any given event, depending on the location and native culture.

Fatima appears as a Mannar girl whose appearance changes hourly or daily. Because Fatima's subroutines and processing power is overloaded with data feeding in from multiple planets, her user interface comes across as eccentric. Her wild and massive hairstyles, which changes shade often, rarely compliment her equally extravagant and mismatched choice of clothing. Fatima's personality is similarly off-key, best described as airheaded, commonly caught daydreaming or humming an obscure song to herself.

Those acronyms are adorable.

More relevant to the topic, I love the idea of expanding on the possible artificial intelligences that see use in the Federation; it seems rare for them to occur in EVE RP, but that might just be a result of my looking in the wrong places. I've toyed with potential ideas that may see use by Kyber in the Foundations, but they tend to be distinctly less cute.

What I am curious about is how the use of similar artificial intelligences might scale with income, situation, and environment. Low-end models being highly functional and basically amounting to super-Roombas, with the higher-end variants as seen here being more anthropomorphised, perhaps? My impression was always that the Federation didn't restrict their usage only to people on extremely high incomes. These are a really nice concept of how they might work for the rich and famous, though.

(CAT does remind me a bit of GERTY from Moon, though. >_>)
