[Characters] Alain Kinsella / Sognec El'Kendan
« on: 11 Feb 2012, 05:22 »

Name:  Alain Kinsella  (link for pic)
Sebiestor (Ammatar) - Tinkerer

Age:  Mid-30s (actual)
Birth World:  Yuzier II
Eyes:  Silver/Grey
Hair:  Dark Blonde (partially bleached)
Distinguishing Features:  Facial/Body scarring from childhood and adult illnesses.  Blue forehead tattoo.

CONCORD Assessment:  In general, harmless.  Placed on Watch List due to current association with Angel Cartel.

Does not appear to have open religious ties as most Ammatar do, but instead has kept his faith and devotion to God private.  Other than his affectation to wear Minmatar clothing in classic Amarr golden colors, he is easily mistaken for a 'normal' Sebiestor at first glance.

-----=== CONCORD History Records ===-----

Alain was born a freeman Ammatar to a relatively normal - if large - household spanning four generations.  Showing an early aptitude for computers, Alain was placed in the local Tinkers academy for training; He excelled, and graduated with honors.

Unfortunately his family and technical aspirations were cut short, due to a freak pox-like outbreak in his district approximately four years ago; Though he survived, almost everyone else in the area did not - including his entire family.  This left him with a crisis of faith, and wandered throughout the system for months, seeking answers.

Eventually, he found 'Nahvah' El'Kendan and his think-tank group (the Honor Guard) on Yuzier III, and spent the next twenty months learning about the earliest uses of VR (as well as Sleeper use, when the materials became available).  He also learned the obscure languages the group used to communicate privately.  By all available accounts, he worked well with the group, advancing several theories on VR technology and how to revise it for creating virtual environments while inside a Capsule.

[Records surrounding Alain's Capsuleer registration were redacted on order of the San Matar government, and countersigned by capsuleer Sognec El'Kendan.  Only the date and location of registration (in Pator) are recorded.]

Alain's corporate record since becoming a capsuleer has mostly centered around the Derelik region or Yuzier itself - with one notable exception of four months, working as a miner in Vale of the Silent.  His recent registration is of concern to CONCORD, but the humanitarian nature of PRELI (and his open GalNet declarations that he's merely an employee) temper any serious actions against him at this time.

" spent the next twenty months learning about VR use in Terran times"

Why is this teachable? Where did his teachers learn this?

Why is this known to a school when Terran is synonymous with Myth to the general universal population?

That's a valid concern, thanks (should stop writing important stuff before bed).  Changed it to 'earliest uses' which is more in-line with what I was aiming for anyway.

As for VR in general - I've tended to see it applied within Eve as individuals showing up remotely via hologram (like is seen with the AIs in Halo, or the first three Star Wars films), or other tech such as the holoreel (playback of full 3D experience - there was a movie about that IIRC).  The 'holodeck' idea gets thrown about too, of course, but not as much.  One of the recent Chronicles brought forth the idea of combat simulators, which is probably an extension of the early Capsule experiments anyway (don't want them flying something if you're not certain the guy will stay sane in the thing).  The tech behind these are similar but nuanced, some of it with rich (and in parts, lost) histories.
