Tech4 is a community-spirited project aimed at promoting the storyline content and lore of EVE Online from the perspective of the ordinary (non-capsuleer) citizens of New Eden.

The Podcast

LATEST BROADCAST: EPISODE 3: SHADES OF SANSHA

The audio drama is a newsroom/studio-based character-driven series that aims to deliver an entertaining and immersive overview of EVE's storyline themes. It is a collaborative effort with contributions from many of EVE's leading podcasters and the wider playerbase (and some unfortunates who get drafted in for cameos). We're always on the lookout for new voice talent.

You can hear the short trailers "Sound Check" and "On Air?" by following these links. All subsequent episodes (and supporting minisodes) can be found on the Tech4 website and on iTunes. Episode 3 is currently in production.

The News Website

Originally designed to provide supporting information for the audio cast, the News Site has evolved into a content-rich web magazine of science-fiction journalism. With frequent high-quality contributions from many of the talented writers within the EVE community, it aims to provide a view of the cluster beyond the realm of the capsuleer from a variety of perspectives.

This is a very good endeavour and you have my total support.

I have been leaving IC comments that are designed to be a little nudgenudge with certain stories, without breaking the IC/OOC divide completely and going "omigawd wrong", eg. stories set in Federal-occupied Caldari systems. All for the sake of the entire Tech4 ofc

Loving the IC comments, thanks Seriphyn. I've seen them and where possible replied in kind.

The great conceit behind Tech4 is that we've got licence to get it wrong. Whilst it's touted as an unbiased professional news site, it's written by very fallible and human baseliners, so opinions and inaccuracies will creep in.

In fact, if getting it wrong will solicit more comments, then I'll encourage our contributors to do it more.

That said, even when it comes to canon, science(-fiction) and even common sense, there's always room for interpretation and opinion. We've got some very dedicated lore-hounds on board to keep us on the straight and narrow, but all advice and input is welcomed. However, taking a leaf out of CCP Dropbear's bumper book of storytelling techniques, what actually goes down in every corner of an imaginary universe 20k years in the future is anyone's guess.

Live and let live. Being capsuleers doesn't mean we've got the monopoly on being right.
