@Zhuul: If Kuvakei strips away the lesser human populations that are what enable the Capsuleers their massive logistics, the Capsuleers will fall apart unless pure automation (Rogue Drones, Sleepers) is achieved.

If trillions serve the Nation and only a couple billion survive in Capsuleer outposts, etc, they will lose because they cannot sustain the human population levels. That is even under the best assumption they manage to organize themselves well enough to stop infighting and internal losses.

The 'threat' is not immediate, but it is a definite end to the Capsuleer way unless its very nature changes.

If we are talking surviving human population in the millions, it is genetically sustainable and potentially can maintain the capability to manufacture most of the technology of the current era it should be able to survive, even if isolated to a few constellations in the furtherest reaches of K-space (even potentially in a single system of W-space).

Scattered groups of a few hundred (not even large alliances) benevolent capsuleers can potentially defend a whole constellation against a standard Nation Incursion.

Also, does Nation's control mechanisms breakdown at some point?  Can the system actually handle trillions of entities within its "hive mind" network?

To clarify, Capsuleers wouldn't be able to sustain human population levels in a war against the Nation. Genetically speaking there's enough diversification to avoid that particular pitfall.

I'm approaching this from the position of a total end game situation, as I don't think a trillions strong Nation will just send a scouting Incursion to destroy a constellation.

In regards to the implants breaking down, there's not enough information. The Sansha ship logs have implications of implants causing pain or wear & tear, but how it came about is unknown. Considering the Nation's interest in expanding itself, I imagine the sheer numbers problem for their network is already accounted for.
