One month in New Eden: what would you do?
« on: 19 Jan 2011, 15:06 »

In a moment of weakness, I resubbed for a month. I really didn't intend to, but I was looking at old posts from the IGS from back in the day and feeling all nostalgic. What was really sad was all those avatars reduced to silhouettes: shadows of characters gone and not-quite-forgotten. I suddenly felt that at the very least, I wanted Wanoah to have a face on the forums for posterity's sake. I am now €15 lighter and have achieved what I set out to do. I also had some fun with the char gen stuff, despite griping about the glaring omissions.

Now I have a month of Eve to do something with. I have no idea what. I know what I'm NOT going to do: I swore an oath long ago never to mine again in Eve. I also have no intention of running any missions unless they have miraculously improved exponentially, which I sincerely doubt. I have a few million ISK, a few ships, and not much else.

So what would you do with a single month of Eve?

Corner the market on exotic dancers in Metropolis or some other favored region.

See if you can manage to infiltrate and destroy a corporation within the alloted time-period.

Publically target one capsuleer for execution. Announce this.

Hunt that one pilot down at all costs and return with his/her corpse.

You are a day-fly. Only you will last a month.

Consider what you want to do and go find a corp that does this, tell them of your situation and if they let you join, try to have fun that one month. If it was fun, consider if you really want to re-sub or stay out this time. Do either of the above.

I've found that EVE today is not the EVE of yesterday, in many, many different ways. The EVE-online I loved back in TACFA is gone. So are most of the people I knew then. It's a shame but the game changes and so does my situation, I find I'm still enjoying the game on a basic level, so I move on.

Maybe after a month you realized that while the game changes all the time and the people in it does too, and some join while some leave, perhaps you still manage to enjoy yourself doing what you do and enjoying the company of those who remain.

And if you don't, stopping is as easy as doing nothing when CCP want their money.

Have a good month, Wanoah.

Personally at this point I'd probably do FW and Incursions. Not because they are objectively the most interesting thing in EVE, but because in a month you can't get into very interesting PvP / RP, and those are something where you might get to do something with other people anyway. FW I haven't done for a while and so sorta miss the PvE side of it, and Incursions are new and so might be fun to test run.

I would join FW for instant action. Pretty quick to get involved and pretty much 24/7 PvP.

I'm liking some of these suggestions. Folks do seem to be leaning towards FW/low sec shenanigans, though. I'll maybe give it a go. I'd intended to give FW a go last time I briefly resubbed, but never quite got to it.

Wormholes would probably be an uphill struggle for me. I know nothing about them, but I'd bet money that involves training some skills that I don't have.

Graelyn's plan is awesome, but I suspect I would fail in the execution quite badly given that I'm struggle to recognise one end of a 1400 II from the other at the moment. :S Last time I resubbed, it took me about 3 hours to figure out how to fit a Rifter, so jumping back into PvP might be a wee bit challenging at first. :)

I know nothing about incursions beyond that being the title of the current expansion...

Join the complete opposite of whatever loyal group you were a part of, and kill everyone on your old side that let you down.
