@Lyn: you get over it, too. I'm not paying a monthly subscription or buying PLEXes with ISK I grinded up myself so that I can make sure someone else is having a good time. I don't give a shit if anyone's having a good time or not. If I suicide gank a miner, I don't care that he had a good time - I enjoyed it. If I wardec a corporation and their activity level drops so low from their players simply emo-quitting the game until the corporation is effectively dead (Du'uma Fiisi did this twice), I don't care that they had a good time - I enjoyed it. I don't care if other RPers choose not to interact with the concept of baseliner youth buying Mizhara and Havohej t-shirts in the same way that modern youth wear Che Guevara t-shirts on the basis of "it's not ingame items, u cant do dis". Fuck them and their opinion, I'm having fun and they don't have to play with me if they don't want to - it's their money/ISK spent on their subscription time and they can do whatever they bloody well please with that time! Plenty of other people are playing with me and enjoying themselves right along with me.
I'm already over it. I was only pointing one of the main issues along with the community unfriendliness towards newbies and RP newcomers in general.
Don't fall into the extreme and hyperboles either, I never told people to give all their shit to others and making sure they have a good time, nor healing miners after ganking their hulks out of the sky.
If people want to tell others to 'go fuck themselves' (your words) every time there is a question about RP that comes out, well, that's sad, but as you say, you do as you want, your money, your right to be a... oh well, no, I don't know how to say that without being catacombed. To be uncouth ? lol.
That's just, you know, as a RP milieu, we tend to play together in a MMO (emphasis on the multiplayer part of it and all), and that while it is sensible sometimes as Miz said above to end up ignoring and blocking and stopping interacting at some point because :incompatibilities: I just feel that to most players it's the default option.
Well, no surprise to me that the community has been in such a shape for a long time. People playing in cliques, having drama and resorting to petty snipes against each other at every corner (like you know, people reporting others over imaginary things on the IGS so they get banned just because they don't like them, that kind of stuff). If that's the kind of atmosphere you want, that's your right since you pay for it, I guess. Maybe that's not really what you strive for (though sometimes I wonder if a lot of eve players just simply love to bask into that kind of things but I suppose that's more a general internet/gaming thingy), but to me it's the rather obvious result of it. Has never been so crystal clear, especially with more detachment now.
That's actually one of the main things that prevents me to come back to have some RP shenanigans. Not in space, mind you, but that's another story anyway.
