This convoluted new election system makes me all confused.
Every subscriber to EVE Online will then have a single vote per account to cast in support of a candidate.
So, the more accounts you have, and thus, the more money you inject into CCP, your vote holds more weight. Why, yes, of course.
Nothing new anyway here.
These votes will then be tallied and candidates that receives 200 or more votes will qualify to be added to the final election ballot.
Ah good, so the biggest your alliance is, the safest are your chances to get passed that formality, when smaller candidates with smaller social groups will have to sweat and struggle to be qualified.
Still sounds completely fair, as usual.
We will be moving to a Single Transferable Vote (STV) based voting system where instead of voting for a single candidate, each voter will pick their top 14 favorite candidates and rank them from 1 to 14.
We could also rate the top 100 as well, while we are at it ? I could understand the intention behind if it was the 4-5 people you prefer (which is widely enough), but 14 ?
And do we have to choose 14 of them ? What a hassle.
Or can we just pick one up and get out with it ? So that no risk of favoring anyone else ?
I am not even willing to comment on the rest, which is awfully convoluted and obscure. Nothing new here too.
While I understand what they tried to do here, like helping out challenger candidates, their method actually kicks every outsider in the butt.
Moreover, the inherent complicatedness behind the process will probably not help either to interest the 90% of non voters that already do not bother to do so with a very simple system.
I would have liked a preferential system that makes more sense and less wtf/obscure.
