... And, taking off the modhat for a moment, I do struggle a little to see how the thread could be construed as OOC, personally.
The reason given by CCP Navigator was pretty confusing. But well, CCP says in the TOS that
[y]ou may not use “role-playing” as an excuse to violate these rules. While EVE Online is a persistent world, fantasy role-playing game, the claim of role-playing is not an acceptable defense for anti-social behavior. This means that harassment of other players does not get cool (as far as CCP is concerned) just because you say "it's IC!"
But as I said, I didn't have a problem with that thread. I don't think it would have become more interesting, though. The re-opening of that thread pretty much devolved into mocking the OP without any on-topic discussion right away.
It provided some interesting insight and added some grey color to the public image of EM - something I always knew was there, but it rarely if ever gets brought up in public.
Well, the first thread does include all the IC comments you will get from GRD on the topic in public (including the exact phrasing of that infamous standing order), so I don't think it would have become more interesting. The OP in that thread was
very misleading in pretty much everything it claimed. Pretty typical slander.
