Hi there features and ideas!

I'm CCP's newest game designer. As some of you may know, I've been a pretty dedicated Eve player for quite awhile now, and I'm very excited to start working to improve the game as much as I can. I'll be contributing to a range of projects I'm sure, but for the immediate future my biggest focus will be balance. I bring a lot of my own history and experience into this role, but I'm also the first to acknowledge that Eve has an enormous variety of environments and situations. That means you all can always help improve my perspective on the game.

At the moment I'm spending a lot of time thinking about ATTACK Battlecruisers and Tech 1 Battleships specifically. I want to open this thread in the hopes that you guys will contribute thoughts on those topics. I would push you towards more high level/meta discussion rather than hyper specific attribute adjustment type of stuff, we just aren't to that stage yet. If I can validate my own impressions about the state of balance regarding these two classes through your contributions, I'll feel much more comfortable going forward!

Excited to be here, look forward to hearing from all of you!

Um... why?

He hasn't even done anything yet? There is literally nothing for you to be disapproving of  :ugh:

She probably disapproves based on Kil2's stated ideals and thoughts on EVE.

No, I just disagree with hiring players for gamedesigner positions. Though I am cautious with that since some of them may really have the skills, but somehow, when half of their gamedesigners actually come from the players... wtf

I can't say I'm overly happy, but then I'm not a big fan of Kil2.

Talented player and knows his stuff though, so I'm sure he'll be an asset.

Well as there are currently two players involved in ship balancing and one of them has done an absolutely amazing job at revitalizing small ships, especially cruisers, I can't really see much to complain about?

So what if they're ex-players if they're doing a good job? If anything, being ex-players gives them first hand knowledge of what does and doesn't work in the current metas.

Seeing as Fozzie is an ex-nullsec doctrine theorycrafter, and Rise is one of the widely respected solo pvpers Eve has ever had, I would imagine that between them they'll be able to come up with some pretty good ideas, no?

Well yes, I hope they will indeed do a good job. Which is quite telling on CCP gamedesign capabilities.

Also, there is a huge gap between the actual skills required by gamedesign and the skills of a player. It two things totally different. You don't develop as a player, you develop as a dev, for the players. You can of course ask players for their feedback, you can also (and it is quite advised) call in QA people and ergonomists to make sure what your gamedesigners do actually fits with the playerbase.

But directly putting players in gamedesigner positions seems like a high risk to me, that's why I am concerned. Probably for naugh, you may well be right.

I see where you're coming from now  ;)

I would imagine that CCP keeps a pretty close eye on them though, they're not going to be allowed to go "You know what sounds cool? Scorpions redone to use FoFs and nothing else!" and then just run off and do it.

This sounds like a drunk roam idea. Lockbreakers, ECM burst, massive tank and fof-pedos. Let's do it.

I have a bunch of TSB and ASB blueprint copies waiting to be built, if people are going to be serious about this... :3

Morwen's Law:
1) The number of capsuleer women who are bisexual is greater than the number who are lesbian.
2) Most of the former group appear lesbian due to a lack of suitable male partners to go around.
3) The lack of suitable male partners can be summed up in most cases thusly: interested, worth the air they breathe, available; pick two.
