In normal order-who is going, not going, planning to go but will end up cancelling etc. etc.
Since 2013 is also Eve's 10th year birthday it will hopefully be something special above "normal" fanfest.
-
Bah, can't go, too broke.
-
These days leaving the house is an accomplishment. Leaving the country is out of the question :p
-
Planning on it this year. Just need to make hotel arrangements with the Veto Kapelle crowd.
... Now, where's Demetri run off to... >_>
-
I want to, but probably won't go :(
-
One of these years I want to go, but I imagine the fact I don't drink nor enjoy being around drunks will suit me very well.
-
I'm aiming to go the year after this one. My life should be much more in order by that point.
-
Like Ghost.
Anyway since they never plan it on a standard time of vacations for people...
-
Reeaaallly want to go. Almost certainly wont, for more or less the same reason I've stopped playing eve.
I need to concentrate dammit :l
-
Planning, time and ISK is set aside, so now only booking is up.
-

Unless of course you start drinking.

You and I are in the same boat here - I'd love to go for years with my RL buddy, but I'm sure I'd feel mostly out of place in any bars, being a non-drinker. Add to that costs, and despite all the other things that would make me WANT to go, I never have. I'm seriously considering it this year, but finances will be very tight even if I do plan to go and start saving up now, and then there's the question of what I'd do there - especialyl now as my mentioned buddy no longer plays EVE and can't afford to go.
-
I'm going tickets, hotels and flights booked with a bunch of Finns.
The Finnvasion has begun. :yar:
-
I'd love to, but probably won't be able to due to economic issues.
As for those of us who don't drink, there still are lots of things to do, and being around drunk people is not (usually) that bad!
-
I have the money, but I'd rather save it.
-
I had FF and event tickets purchased on day one.
Just got flights sorted out. :>
-
I'll be booking flights/getting tickets over this week :3
-
Booked my tickets a few days ago gona be my first Fanfest :cube:

-
I wish I could go....no money though :-( Ozzie and I want to make an effort to go to one before we move back to Cali. Haha, could bring wee man and dress him up, lol.
-
Tickets are apparently officially sold out, per CCP.
Either they're yanking my chain in order to drive up the demand, and then release "special tickets" at higher price, or they're sincere. In either case, goddamnit CCP.
If anyone has a ticket at the moment, but has plans change in the future that may cause them to have to miss FF, PM me in-game. I'd be willing to buy it from you for a fair price.
-
I'd go, but I have no money. Even if I do, I don't really have a group or clique to hang with. Going alone to FF sounds like a pretty retarded idea.
-
There's tons of ways to introduce yourself, for example:
* Go to panels (like the RP one I'm sure exists this year) and be social (ie, not a dick).
* Hang out at bars being frequented, or chill at Nonni's.
* Shout out "I was there, at Asakai!" and watch as hundreds of people join in (potentially).
I mean, hell, the first people I ran into during '11 was a bunch of people at the Boston airport's international terminal... ironically they were with a group who's titan we had just blown up. Still got along.
-
Apparently I bought a ticket in a moment of weakness, just two days before they sold out. Guess I better get lodging and flights sorted out now... :)
-
Gogo Press Pass! \o/
And yes, I'll see you all there.
-
Have my flight and hotel sorted, though I'm currently without a Fanfest ticket. Hoping to get that fixed, waiting to hear back. Either way I'll be bar hopping in Reykjavik for fanfest week I suppose.

Not like being hungover and missing a lot of the sessions would be new behaviour or anything...
-
I'm actually offering to do commentary for the Fanfest tournament, so I'll have to actually sleep a couple of the nights if I wind up doing that. We'll see. Not sure if Dolan (the guy I'm fairly sure is running that) saw the SCL or not.
-
Program is out.
http://web.ccpgamescdn.com/fanfest/2013/FF2013_Program_Book.pdf
-
So I bought the HD lifestream - but forgot that I'll be away the whole weekend getting drunk and having fun
And all I got was this lousy T-Shirt
-
I have the HD stream and booked Thursday and Friday off work, so I shall be watching like a dappy version of Ed Harris in the Truman Show.
-
*clears throat*
ÍÍÍSSSLLLAAAAAAANNDDD
-
Did finally secure myself a ticket. If you can't otherwise find me, check the eSports round table room about an hour beforehand where I'll be camped out in a tent to make sure I get in, because if I don't the SCL staff will skin me alive.
-
I'll be there in spirit...sorta. I'm physically going to be in Iceland, but y'know, tickets sold out and it's okay as I have many things to jump on and stuff to occupy my time instead.
-
"Things to jump on", eh?
-
In my case I am being quite literal. :P
-
It appears that I'm actually going...
If you're there and recognize me (IRL I wear even less hair than my avatar), feel free to say hello.
-
Arrived in one piece. I even found a Kyoko! :3 :cube:
-
Leave in 24 hours for the airport. Can't wait.
For those who have no idea what I look like but want to find me:
I'm the one looking at the camera. The other one is The Mittani. Feel free to rush up to him and tell him it's great to finally meet Bacchanalian, it pisses him off.
-
Namamai is here already too, he was on the bus to RWAV with us. I may have not recognized him until he said "yeah that was me" when he battlecovops came up in discussion.
-
I hope you all have a FANTASTIC time!!!
ENJOY. DRINK. PEW PEW.
-
Can't wait to get up there, just 24 more hours... :|
Haven't started packing yet, though...
-
Welp, tried sleeping last night, no dice.
Driving to the airport in an hour through a pretty substantial snow storm, should be fun times. 20ish hours from now I'll be in Reykjavik!
-
We had like 15 people playing Cards Against Humanity last night.
We have some really horrible people in our group, let me tell you.
-
That game looks amazing.
-
That game looks amazing.
I won the last round with:
"If God wanted you to enjoy [dying of dysentery] he wouldn't have given us [the Make-a-Wish Foundation]."
There were some that were far worse than that. :3

It is a great game, honestly.
I won a game with "Lifetime presents [God], the story of [being a motherfucking sorcerer]."

Met Morwen tonight \o/
Also was with Vendrin, Misan, and Sakura, so got to introduce him around. Ripard was there as well, and got to see my two favorite CCP employees and former members of this forum. :)
Now to go out and get drunk.

I also totally forgot Vendrin within like 10 minutes of meeting him, which was totally hilarious and worth the reaction he gave me when I asked who he was a second time.
I actually want to be up at a reasonable hour tomorrow so I'm passing on further drinking, but I'll be up for more later in the week. Was good slamming a few back with you! :D
-
If any of you at Fanfest meet Erik Finnegan and/or Alef Menthuhemtap, tell 'em I said hi.
-
We've just had a kite flown at us in the live events round table: how would we react to the idea of a weekly, IC, CCP-driven news show?
-
Morlag's notes from the Live Events panel - UNEDITED AND ROUGH.
Live Events panel!
CCP Goliath, Affinity, Eterne, Falcon and DelegateZero
Soft cloning!
- More a storyline question, need to go to Storyline panel with Abraxas and Gnauton.
NA Events!
- Resources are limited, but so much of playerbase in America...
-- We're aware that a big percentage of the sub base is in US, want to alleviate but in a position where everyone involved is in Reykjavik - need to expand team or figure out how to manage off-TZ events. Would like to run for EU, US, Pacific. Need to sort out manpower and then ramp things up over time. No roadmap at the moment.
-- There's a few who don't mind staying late in the office, but manpower + vols from within company are required.
-- Have prelim ideas on how to increase coverage, internal meetings to try and sort out a roadmap are planned for US + weekend timezones. Family/work/school is acknowledged and understood - working on coming up with a solution.
Six-month schedule
- Don't have the sched mapped out yet, time crunch due to FF prevented getting one done. WILL BE SPOILERS AT END FOR STUFF.
- Would like to resolve outstanding arcs - repairing Malkalen, Yulai in particular are ideas floating around.
- Fixing stations requires development time - world-shaping events are something people are passionate about but things need to show it's worth the time.
Player corp initiative in live events - how much init. can we take to get them to start up
- Cannot have bias, but we can advertise stuff through actors and such.
- Adapt and react to "how much you guys screw our plans up"
- Kane Spero's OB tournament.
Plans to mix smaller ccp roams in player events - conflict of interest, bias?
- Yellow text vs. blue text - yellow is live events, blue is shits and giggles
- Protest outside CEP station, Falcon just made a random character and had some fun with it.
How much buy-in do LE have w/ CCP development structure - CP was well-received but problems w/ messaging and seemed like technical tools were missing
- this six-month run was a proof of concept; Seagull as the new sr. producer is very into lore and story; making content more organic.
- Rolling out features via events rather than straight-up patches. This stuff doesn't happen overnight.
- Buy-in for creating tools is high rather than new art assets.
- w/r/t 2011, there were other priorities.
- V3 project is a bottleneck here too for new assets
- There WILL be a team dedicated to Content Tools.
- Will be more generalized tools.
Process between storyline and live events - how does it work w/in ccp
- Storyline exists on multiple layers - high-level arc set by the storyline team + IP development.
- Underneath, multiple arcs we can have that go back and forth. Shaping of these arcs is organic between those teams.
- Arcs can develop based on player reactions in varying direction.
Resolving sansha events
- We want to do stuff with existing hanging plot threads, but needs to be cleared through storyline.
- As this team we will NOT start anything that we will not finish. - CCP Affinity
Null/low/high
- Null is the heart of 'sandbox' gameplay. We wouldn't want to decide to hold an event there, show up and oops, we disrupted something like someone's logistics chain as a result.
- Do not want the preception that live events are only for highsec (or lowsec). Null events will happen eventually. Same thing for w-space.
Goons vs. QA modules
- We won't be doing that again. It was funny - people dying to concord is always funny - but we won't be doing it again.
Loyalty thread!
- Can we declare opposition rather than just loyalty?
- Blow 'em up. Maybe a "declare your antipathy" thread.
What barriers to branching storyarcs, scripted vs. unscripted events - Caldari Prime, for example
- We do want players to influence events. But we had to have things on rails for right now - we didn't know the rules yet. (Goliath)
- There was NO WAY that titan was going to live. It might have taken ten hours but it would have died.
- Not going to promise that there won't be scripted events, if we NEED them for huge storyline changes, we will have them.
- May have mods not available to players but they will fit thematically.
AURORA
- Volunteer groups are NOT an option - AURORA worked then, it would not work now.
- It would be great, we'd love the help, but the burden of regulating it would take up too much time.
Surprise vs. scheduled
- Storylinewise, sometimes we NEED it to be a surprise because that's the point (Evaulon)
- Issue we have is if we put out news 24h in advance. 48h it gets bigger. It spirals out o control - it's an issue of crowd control.
- CP we came out with the best case scenario rather than breaking the node.
- Breadcrumbs are a cool idea but not easy to get into game.
GOLIATH SURPRISE
- CCP-created in-character, weekly news show. IDea being kicked around. No promises bt it is being kicked around with abraxas and gnauton.
Live vents are FULLY recognized by CCP at this point, largely thanks to the reaction from the players.
CP stream
- People watched, about 5x more than goliath and zulu were betting on
-
T2 Print changes coming in Odyssey! Suddenly the keynote became much more important to my future gameplay.
-
Larger response coming, but...
Null/low/high
- Null is the heart of 'sandbox' gameplay. We wouldn't want to decide to hold an event there, show up and oops, we disrupted something like someone's logistics chain as a result.
...is it bad that this looks like something I would love to see? PvE is a joke - let's have the environment fight back a bit via the devs.

Seems like it would be straight-forward to have events in the NPC null or edges. Angels going after folks hunting them in Curse (duh?) for example.

I too would greatly enjoy seeing the ambient PVE environment actually being a meaningful threat to players. Although that is a larger issue that stretches beyond merely Live Events.
Over all the Live Event notes seem to indicate they will be better developed in the coming months on the technical side. I am concerned they'll do more Caldari Prime repeats (an on-rails event sold as a free form one), but hopefully by acknowledging they will put some events on rails the sale to players will be more clear.
Of course this may also directly impact the roleplay community's participation; I am not aware of how receptive the people are to predestined major events.

Epic black screen live stream is epic.

I like these low sec 'indulgences' you'll be able to sell to criminals for CONCORD forgiveness.
Devil will be in the details though for pricing...

Stream is back :)
-
I like these low sec 'indulgences' you'll be able to sell to criminals for CONCORD forgiveness.
Devil will be in the details though for pricing...
Two parts to the cost.
A) what other players will sell them to you for
B) concord will charge you a price to cash them in.
A) is up to the market (although CCP will tweak the spawn rates as they see how it pans out) andB) is another way to charged weak it.
The big question to me is spawn rates
-
Things CCP needs more of.
1. David Reid
2. David Reid
3. ???
4. David Reid
That man really knows how to talk, is energetic, is engaging and is genuinely interesting to listen to. Putting him as CMO is definitely one of CCP's seriously good decisions of recent years.
-
Hey Grideris,
You owe me beer
(and Matariki, but I'm not sure she'll drink it once she gets her björk opened)

Let's hope they cost at least as much as the bounty from the amount of BS rats you'd have to grind through for the desired result.

\o/ I drank too much last night.
Vendrin and I were last seen at 3:30 am leaving the bars. I have a phone call from my phone to his at 4:30 that was answered, meaning we somehow got split up around then. Next memory is 8:30, my alarm going off. I've been hurting all day.
Apparently that didn't fuck with me too much though, as my tourney team is going to the finals vs PL Saturday. \o/
Because the stream died though, my interview got pushed back, so I won't be on until tomorrow or Saturday.

Best cure for hangover is alcohol.
Good luck man!

So CCP Facebook is blowing up about some amazing demo of Odyssey and some gate construction stuff.
Wat
-
For someone with data limits, the steam of off limits for me. Can someone point the way to juicy images and recordings?
-
New jump effects give off a massive Freelancer vibe. It's pretty damn cool.
The art provided for the gate construction looks a lot like the art for Homeworld 2 did with the Pride of Hiigara being constructed. I'd hazard a guess it struck a good chord.

Bistot: 12000 Pyerite (+11830), 341 Zydrine, 170 Megacyte

That is one way to make the ABCs more useful for "domestic" production.

Yay, got my 5 minutes of fame. Talked a bit about SCL, had Guard mispronounce my name twice amusingly. \o/

Unfortunately not.
However, when the keynote becomes available on Twitch I'll see if I can grab the relevant bits. I imagine that'd be tomorrow.

my first thought is: wouldn't this make mexallon the next bottleneck? 6 ores provide mex, in comparison 8 provide zydrine.

CCP Seagull did a very nice "this is my dream for the future of EVE" spot in her talk. (There was also a very nicely put-together review of EVE's history, and there will be Oculus Rift demos tomorrow.)
I think I'm now a bittervet: in my view the keynote almost made up for the storyline session.

This looks amazingly cool. I'm hoping they continue on this trend....if so, I'll be playing EVE for the -next- 10 years.
-
Why is now Apoc way beer than the Mega
The new gates effect will be cool, and tha scaning changes.
And the probes formation... no manual stuff no more :D
-
I don't like what they did to the apoc. Except the new back of the ship, it really didn't need all of this. It lost most of his past austere majesty.
I have been pretty much happy for all redesigns though, so I guess I have eventually to face one I do not like... But artistically, it doesn't make much sense to me. They should have done it like the Raven, with very diffuse/minor changes to polish it a bit more, nothing more.
Oh well, it still looks good though.
-
Not got a single complaint about the proposed and confirmed content, for either dust or eve. I guess my only continuing gripe is the ongoing attempts tp band aid industry with resource changes, instead of trying to fix the sod-awful UI and mechanics. BUT that is a minor complaint in the grand scheme of things, personally.
-

Old Apoc was one of the three ugliest Amarr ships (along with the Crucifier and Revelation). The shape was just too... well, it looked like a plastic toy rifle. New one is much better.
-
I tend to agree.
No more hoping, as a Captain, that the enemy doesn't shoot from underneath you, into those soft stupid half-finished superstructures.
"Well yeah, the slaves live down there."
-

Not in my eyes, the most good looking amarrian BS for me. Want something really ugly in Amarr hulls, check the Aeon... :/
Anyway I was not so much speaking out of tastes, but in terms of artistic direction. Still my opinion of course. But concerning my personal tastes, as I said above I am still fine with it, it still looks good. Better overall, even.
And yeah I am kind of happy that they decided to cover it with armor underneath. I just do not like at all what they did on the armor patterns above.
-
I agree that the UI and stuffs needs some work, but I am immensely excited by those resource changes. They seem really essential to change the whole dynamic of low/0.0 indy. I want to hug CCP right naow.
-
Can one of you indy hounds elaborate on what the changes mean?
Aside from stockpiling ice what should we do as speculators :P
-
I am thinking that easily isolated ice belt systems and lowsec mining systems are going to increase massively in value. I can think of a few places that fit the bill, the local crews are either going to find themselves with a great resource for recruiting or get their ass kicked by other more motivated organizations.
-
I didn't go to the resource panel (was busy doing something there'll be pictures of... Soon™) but iirc ice 'belts' will be moved to cosmic anomalies - the ones that your regular scanner (without probes) can find.
Just sat through the Apoc redesign panel with Cael, Stitcher, Screwball and Soter - they showed us the process from prototypes all the way up to the final product. (Edit: PALADIN WILL HAVE ITS OWN, SEPARATE MODEL. IT IS NOT DONE YET, BUT PROBABLY WILL BE IN ODYSSEY.)
They apparently do have a concept for a new Dominix model but no exact timeline (possibly the winter expansion if we're lucky).
-
I guess my only continuing gripe is the ongoing attempts tp band aid industry with resource changes, instead of trying to fix the sod-awful UI and mechanics. BUT that is a minor complaint in the grand scheme of things, personally.
Well, I will upgrade it to a major complaint in the grade scheme of things, personally. Its were I spend most of my time.
The ore changes are a band-aid for a side-effect of mineral compression and what I see as a player behavior (unwillingness to mine in belts in 0.0).
The T2 component changes and complex material additions are attempts to limit bottlenecks created by a lack of distributed moon sources and large, capable player organizations. Every T2 component already had a low-end racial material (the Carbides, Carbonide), so adding these high-ends to the most used/most expensive components is shaking up an already complex system. I doubt think it will stop Platinum Technite (Nanotransistors and Fullerides) from being an overall bottleneck.
Can one of you indy hounds elaborate on what the changes mean?
The T2 component changes and new complex materials means that Microprocessors and Capacitors will probably see a spike. These two components are broadly used across T2 module production as well as ship production. The need to use as yet unavailable materials to produce Microprocessors and Capacitors immediately following release will create a lag in production.
Anyone using large quantities of reactors can likely purchase sufficient stores to wait out the markets reaction to the 4 new materials - they currently sell in Jita for less than the material cost.
As the spike in MPs and Caps occurs, there maybe a dip in Morphite demand - if it is to expensive to buy MPs and Caps for producing T2 stuff, I don't need the Morphite.
The mineral changes will impact null more and we may see a decrease in hub demand for common, compressed goods in the long term. But the lag will be enormous since most production occurs in high-sec for a variety of reasons, chiefly security of BP libraries and ease of access to large material markets and the ability to sell excess quickly.
-
Can somebody speak to the art panel and ask the devs if they intend to give the Golem and Widow unique models as T2 ships, or if we'll be stuck with reskins only?
-
How shit... "Eve: Source"
-
... yeah.
EVE Source might be the resource I've been wanting, although the focus on coffee table and beautiful art won't leave much space for textual content in the number of pages they mentioned.
Definitely curious. Trying to buffer myself against disappointment.
Also, the comics based on True Stories sound potentially cool for OOC stuff, and will be free online.

Epic trailer is epic.
Also, was some channeling Aria Jenneth when the wrote the script.
Edit: I like that the trailer has the new relic/hack sites as they looked when they launched.

The moment he said the Paladin and Kronos will get heavily plated skins I immediately asked if the Vargur and Golem would get the same treatment. Turns out the Vargur already has.
But yes, potential new Domi hull as early as winter 2013. Want.
-
Request to separate the devblog discussion?
-
I tend to agree.
No more hoping, as a Captain, that the enemy doesn't shoot from underneath you, into those soft stupid half-finished superstructures.
"Well yeah, the slaves live down there."
I might actually fly that battleship. Much as I love the geddon, one of the reasons it's the only Amarrian BS I fly is that the Apoc looks so cheesy. The geddon looks like a battleship.

What was the response about the Golem?

Some highlights from last night's party:
- of all the drinks I had only one was paid for (by me). All the others were given or 'bought' by devs with these 'beer token' passes.
- singalong with Uncle Suas + Goons and a very very drunk Mittani Bacchanalian. Yes I got pictures.
- lots of interesting conversations with devs about a wide range of things, including possible conflict mechanics for space elevators and a possible lore-related contest
- hugs from and lots of pictures with lots of devs (even Hilmar :3) and a number of other EVE celebrities.
Posting from my iPod while slightly hungover so my apologies for any typos :P

I don't remember singing with you Morwen.
...see what I did there?
So did anyone catch that handsome devil on the Expendables team? What was his name, he was so dreamy!?! :o

Good interview by the way! You came across very well and hopefully good PR for your tournaments!

Link to video? I haven't been watching the stream, but want to listen to Bach's sultry tones, plox.

Jump to 1:49:00 or so.
http://www.twitch.tv/ccp/b/395925361
And then you can watch me beat PL in the Fanfest tournament.
http://www.twitch.tv/ccp/c/2213415
And I should have some links to a few more short interviews I did with CCP Loki for a documentary he's making, but that may not be out until next year.

So what did Razer hook you up with as part of their "support"?
-
Razer Black Adder mouse, GeForce 670 graphics card, some trinkets, and a promise to "take care of any hardware needs we have for the next year" with a business card so we can contact him.
It wasn't specific, but I suspect any peripherals Razer makes really, especially given that most of my gear is old Logitech stuff. :P
-
Congrats on winning, Baccha.
I've been watching the stream 'till it stopped, all nostalgic, and playing some guitar with my Röxxör picks.
I wasn't there, but I wished I was.

So, about that new Apoc hull.
Navy flavor (http://i.imgur.com/5A9w99u.jpg), anyone?

Someone told me that the fanfest Quafe shirts have "Egonics Soundscape Conference" printed on them? I thought fanfest was called Impetus Holoreel Convention ICly?
Can someone post pics?
Oh, and the first EVE ship I ever saw was the apoc, in the article that made me aware of EVE's existence.

Can't post pics for a couple of weeks till I get home, but the front of the shirt does say

This is what it says on the shirt ingame, by the way. Just use the preview window on it. :)
-
What about the YC114 shirt?
Oh, and I'm afraid my sucky graphics card will burn if I try to raise the graphics quality high enough to read the fine print.
-
YC 113 and 114 were both Impetus.
The YC115 shirt's description ingame is incorrect. If you haven't submitted a bug report already, you should. :)
-
5 days in and whatever the hell this bug is that I picked up in Iceland is still kicking the bejeezus shit out of me.
Apologies to anyone here who I may have passed it on to.

Despite your best efforts, and those of Bacchanalian, I have not succumbed. Possibly because it is still below zero in Iceland, and my body is too scared to get sick.

The design on the YC115 shirt looks a lot like radio pulses from a pulsar. See: the album cover of Joy Division's Unknown Pleasures.
Interesting article on that here: http://adamcap.com/2011/05/19/history-of-joy-division-unknown-pleasures-album-art/

So, about that new Apoc hull.

Cooler than I first thought on the other models. Still disturbed by the stubby arms below (they were a lot bigger in the old one) but it may be the lack of habit.

Is it just me, or does it look a little more T3 (that Legion/Tengu aesthetic) than it used to?
-
It looks more futuristic than the semi-fluid shapes of the old Apoc. The design change in CCPs art department has been noticable over the years, starting to some degree with the Tier 3 battleships. The Abaddon could use a touch-up as well I think.
-
Can't say I really like the new Apoc better. I'm going to miss the old/current Apoc. I really loved it for being so minimal in appearance.
I also dislike what happened to the Maller, mind you  I might cry if the Punisher ever gets revamped to that blocky style too.
e; That said I'm really enjoying watching these updates and news as they trickled in! Wish I was there.
