John Turbefield waited. The lights above him blinked and did not correctly conform to screen-space ambient occlusion. There were microtransactions in the game. He could not afford them, but had expected them now for years. His warnings to CCP Hilmar had not been listened to, and now it was too late. Far too late for now anyway.

John Turbefield was a CCP employee for four years. When he was young, he watched the spaceships and he said to dad "I want to be on the ships daddy!". Dad said "NO YOU WILL BE FIRE FOR MICROTRANSACTION"

There was a time when he believed him. Then as he got oldered he stopped. But now in the space station base of CCP, he knew there were microtransactions.

"This is Hilmar!" the telephone crackered. "You must fight the microtransactions!"

So John gotted his internal memo, and blew up the thread.

"HE'S GOING TO KILL OUR PROFITS!" said CCP.

"I will fire him!" said Soundwave, and he deployed the Incarna patch.

John argued with him, and tried to show him up, but then the graphics card overheated, and they were frozen and unable to move.

"No! I MUST FIGHT THE MICROTRANSACTIONS!" he shouted.

The telephone said "No, John, you are the microtransactions"

And then John had a monocle.

That it does. I'm not sure my problems with, say, DUST would be solved by better communications, but at least there would have been an honest conversation about it.

Doesn't address the main issue at all, pretty much sidestepping it entirely. The argument for the current prices is utterly terrible and this quote, "We will gradually introduce items at other price points, definitely lower and probably higher than what‘s in the store today. We hope you enjoy them and are as passionate about them as you are of the current items that are for sale." is just  all over.

I think the bittervet "I'm unsubbing because X doesn't fix X" is mainstream with the rest of the community. I'm very disappointed that nothing of substance was addressed. If this was the Matrix and my clothing looked photorealistic, I'd pay good money for it, sure. But this isn't 2021.

I unsubscribed, but will play the rest out. I have a small amount of hope left, but it's still something.

No it hasn't. I don't really care about the vanity items. Until CCP actually comes out and says they will accept RL money for an IG edge of some sort be it special ships ammo or implants, I'm not gonna go shitting my pants and unsubbing.  The dev blog was utter crap and avoided that question, but I don't see it as a nail in the coffin either. To those of you that are leaving: It's been fun.
