That the Intaki Liberation Front's "rampant griffin" corp logo was adopted after the pro-Federation corp The Durandal Organization created a logo using motifs similar to the ILF's original logo?

I cannot wait for this game. I must have sunk thousands of hours into Paradox strategy games.

Yea everything I'm playing now is just killing time until this comes out and I suspect it will be 'my game' for a long time after.

Well until 2086 when Star Citizen releases.

Pre-orders are up! Out in 4 weeks. Good range of prices, $39-69 USD.

Also http://www.stellariswiki.com/Government

Look at all that shit.

Also GOD EMPEROR is an actual title you can get for the advanced form of one of the governments.  ALL HAIL.

If I had any reservations about getting this game they are now gone.  Must become God Emperor!

Looks like I may take a brief eve break to try this out!  I wonder how it compares to Distant Worlds.

The developers have been running a hilarious weekly stream of them playing the game, warts and all. Quite good.

TLDR as an emergent side effect of this, they've started a new faction for the game called the BLORG.  Repulsive mushroom race they gave some negative starting traits to and use as their faction.  They only want to be friends, but everyone hates them (even themselves.)  The most popular blorg is the one with the most friends (the current record holder is 7).

YOU WILL BE BEFRIENDED.

Totally going to get this once it comes out, I've played way too much EU4 in my time.

As an aside, try the code WATCH25 when you buy it, I was reading an article the other day about this and it looks like it's a 25% off code for the game.  Your mileage may vary, but it's worth a shot.

It's out!

Overall it's quite fun and it will eat all of your time.  It definitely has that 'civilization' vibe where you look at the clock and it's suddenly 4 hours later than you had expected!

I think with DLC and modding this game will have extremely long legs. Right now diplomacy/espionage/etc will need to be fleshed out, but the game has a lot going for it.

Aside from all the usual 4x stuff what is really fun is the writing. The game has a lot of personality, and there are tons of optional 'quests' for investigation or plot that you can explore.  Tomb worlds, fallen empires, etc.

Fallen empires are a great concept, think of an ancient isolationist race that wants nothing to do with you unless you cross 'x' boundary in territory or research a dangerous technology, then they come out swinging at you with end-game tech to punish.

Another super-fun thing is the ability to observe and 'uplift' other primitive civilizations.   XCOM in reverse where you are the aliens.  Observe the primitives with non interference? Genetically modify your own species to infiltrate their leadership and prepare the planet for annexation? Gift them your technology and uplift them to the stars, and they will be forever grateful?

Here's a cool screenshot form an 'alien' playthrough coming across a 'primitive' earth :P

I haven't gotten into multiplayer yet but apparently you can jump in/jump out and it's a lot of fun.

I found a planetary anomaly.

It turned out to be a pair of mating space whales, who became enraged at being disturbed and chased our science ship away and started attacking the space stations that I had built.

lol.

I had a scientist attempt to restart the engines on a derelict factory in space. He launched it into the sun and gained the trait "computer specialist".

lol.

I still wish eve had "space monsters", e.g fauna in space (I do understand and agree with the design decision on no aliens).  Looking forward to digging into this game!
