Running on empty.
« on: 03 Aug 2014, 15:51 »

So I have been perusing the Gospel of St. Mio lately because EVE has turned incredibly stale* over the last month. I don't know if I just play in an awful time zone or live in a terrible region, but I have pretty much nothing going on. Skill Queue Online.

The only things that stand out are station trading and drug production since they are within my means as a player and do not violate the character's values. My concern is that these are not options that lend themselves to a primary source of in-game solo activity. Any success stories with these, or is it time to launch all my cheapfit Rifters headlong into the maw of oblivion before finally unsubbing?

Drug production is pretty painfull. If you are interested in messing with it though and Ataraxia Pharm is inactive you could come down to Solitude and do some exploring/harvesting.

Is that one douchebag still down there?  I forget his name, the blowhard with the stealth bombers?

This is a forum on steroids tbh. The rate at which content worth reading is being generated could get you pregnant.

Lets start with your TZ what is it to begin with? Can't really help with this until you share.

Is Nissui your first chracter? If so, you are going ass backwards to the tree if you let your RP determine what you do before you experience the game in full. If this is your first time playing EVE discover all the activities, regardless of RP values. Then when you find what you actually like, rebuild your character around that. You will discover that EVE becomes much more enjoyable that way around.

As for Drug business, not a particularily good thing to do solo, lots of micromanaging and you end up getting your towers nuked fairly quick unless you make some arrangements. Competition is very keen in this trade. If you are interested in this still, hit me up and I'll chat with you and if I like you I will send you the way of some of my friends who are pretty much at the top of the trade.

I created Vince first with a smart mouth trader/ smuggler in mind. Well turns out smuggling in this game is at best non-exsistant and trading is fucking boring. So I decided to check out breaking other people's shit and turns out that's what I liked. That's where I am still to this day. It got stale for a bit so I've tried quite a few things in the mean time, industry, drug-trade, mining and even pure hauling. But clanking boomsticks is where it's at for me in the end.

Merely finding a nice and active corporation to play the game with is a step in the right direction.

You and Vince have cleared up my question on this. I'll keep it in mind for the future, but for now it's not looking like the way to go.

I usually don't log in until 2200 PDT, so 0500 GMT I guess. After classwork is done. I think this is typically viewed as 'OZ Peak Time'.

Is Nissui your first character?

Yeah, though I have a market/hauler alt on a second account which has been inactive for over 6 months. I started out doing all the tutorials, was bored with missions, heard on reddit about ninja looting and decided to try that, which was the most interesting gameplay I had experienced up to that point. While I was losing a ships here or there trying to get missioners to fight me, I got tapped via PM to try a PVP corp for scrubs, and that ended up being the best decision I've made in the game. I didn't get to do a whole lot other than scouting, due to our WTs being very shiny, but it was exciting and enjoyable. Eventually we had an itch to try some new directions, but ended up parting ways. So I've burned those bridges, unfortunately. There's talk of solo PVP being a thing, but I am not good at finding it, probably because I am reticent to throw ISK away on fights I know my ship can't win. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

As far as RP-derived gameplay being the cart before the horse, I believe understand what you are saying. I'm quite happy with her personality and backstory, and get the gasface when I think about retconning in order to fit in with established groups.

This means I am snowflaking, and it's my own fault that I'm bored.

I appreciate your time and effort in addressing the thread, though. I've yet to have a negative experience here on the board or in OOC communications.

Ah, aussie TZ, that can be a tricky one at times. I can't come up of the top of my head any corps that'd be AUTZ specific. I used to know a couple but they're dead now. Sorry.

It is often possible to find nice IC reasons for a corp change. It's easier for progressive characters rather than for radicals of course, but even for radicals you can find unique and drama generating ideas for one to do such a thing.

Well, I played a character raised in Amarr culture, and someday decided to go do anti piracy in Solitude in a hawkish gallente RP corp (yeah those existed back then). Well the anti piracy was the motivator to overcome the rest, and the awkwardness that resulted of that rest was especially interesting in the end.

Only Aussie corp that comes to mind for me is a nullsec group called Van Deimen's Demise. Big group in NC., makes up the majority of their AU tz.
