I miss 2007 and early 2008 when before logging in I got to read one or more new pieces of RP news about the universe pretty much every day or every other day. That is what drew me in to the game so deep in the first place as it made New Eden vivid and alive. Some of those news were basically tabloid junk and some developments of the story arcs some intertwined. Now when I last logged a month ago I was faced with a week or more old patch notes notification...

But this is completely offtopic, pardon my bitterness.

There's not going to be a Caldari-Amarr war. There's no lowsec space between them, there's only 1 system that's even a border, and that's only because of a "highway" gate (Niarja-Kaaputenen).
CCP aren't going to create a whole new region, with all the complaints that it would generate (moon minerals, effect on 0.0 logistics), just to satisfy the wishes of a tiny minority of RP'ers who like the ideas of Caldari-Minmatar alliance or Caldari-Amarr war, or whatever.
There's barely even a border between Amarr and Gallente too, so the most that is likely to happen in my opinion, is reduced payments for "allied" complexes.

I think they did this once....

As part of a major expansion introducing a lot of features, yes.

I don't see it being likely to add a new region of space, as part of an iteration of a feature.

I think the problem is that there aren't current game-mechanics to deal with or reflect a PF 'invasion' or major war between any of the empires.

Unless CCP is willing to 'flip' high sec systems unilaterally and show a changing border in any direction, any 'war' is going to be super short and not have any lasting impacts.

They aren't going to change any systems because that will effect mission hubs, trade stuff, etc. There is no way they will upset any apple carts in highsec, so we are never going to get any real 'war' between any of the factions.

A few isolated player events but don't expect any changes to be lasting or impact.

Well, I would think that a major shake up in the alliances (little a) of New Eden would be accompanied by major changes to the Factional Warfare system and be more than just an iteration on the feature.  As Silas says, game-mechanics would need to change in general.

Id almost rather the damn faction war just end. I would really love a Minmatar cause that CCP seems to actually care about beyond FW. Intertribal squabbles? Other enemies? Clan vs Clan politics? Economic and social upheaval? All present, can we have some of it now?

Yeah, from a story point of view it doesn't add much to the game, but it's too popular to just shutter entirely. I really wish CCP had made factional conflict more like the empires hiring privateers to fight on their behalf, prey on enemy merchant traffic, capture enemy stations in lowsec, etc...make FW lowsec more like "disputed territory" where no one can truly claim to own it, and then have people fight over what is inside, and make which faction you align yourself with actually meaningful, instead of letting people flit from empire to empire with few if any consequences. It's a huge missed opportunity.

Sounds like back in 2007 ( and I assume earlier ) when I was a newbie. There was factions inside the factions that had words with each other even gunfire time to time, not this shit that we have now.

Internal militia conflict and disagreement even up to shooting eachother still happens fairly often, Vincent.

I know, but it's extremely rarely RP related. It's just people being cunts when the size of their e-peen has been questioned. I remember those conflicts well, I was in Amarr Militia for quite a while.

Yes, but this is because FW is very little RP oriented. I remember, when it was created, there were going to be plots inside FW with missions for each side (conquering planet x, keeping it, etc) that actually had news events and plot tied to them... but all those mostly went away after the first months.

Internal militia conflict is just a pale shadow of real RP intra factional conflicts. Cf how it was in the past.

Exactly my point. Plus, what little RPers there happen to be have to toe the partyline or get ostracized.

There no longer is rivalry between supporters of different houses in the Amarr RP scene, nor is there similar existing difference in Minmatar RP. Gallente RP... There is no gallente RP to even speak off anymore, and Caldari? Everyone is FüR DAS STATEH or get shat on. No Kaalakiota going after Nugoeihuvi for being real shady folks that tags that have Guristas emblems on them (I have them, they're nifty).
