So, what you are saying is that they took the money of the "anti homosexuality promotion in school" people to spend it on a bill about gay marriages ?  :P

Not really.

Business person, is against homosexuality, spends large sums of money on a campaign to prevent teaching of anything that could promote homosexuality.
Political party manifesto includes a commitment to change an aspect of the industry that the businessperson is involved in.
Party is elected, forms government. Business person donates large sum of money to party. Manifesto commitment dropped. Business person praised by political party.

Bought and sold for homophobes gold, etc. parcel of rogues in a nation, blah.

Also, in Scotland, even in the university districts, there are a substantial proportion of LUGs. As in "Lesbian Until Graduating".

So, don't count on anything lasting. Or making plans beyond a couple years.

Yes.

Though, you get told you're "anti-scottish" and/or "not a true scot" if you bring it up.

Huh. They'd struck me as being reasonably progressive, but then I don't live in Scotland so only bits and pieces filter through about the SNP. Now they're sound a bit like the Lib Dems - principled right up to the point they found themselves in a position of power.

I have heard the SNP described as "Scots Tories" by a scot from Stevenson. That said the scot in question is an anarcho syndicalist (or used to be when he offered that description) so his opinion might not be entirely unbiased.

Yes, well, when Scotland's Greatest Ever Olympian Hero, inspiration to an entire generation, multiple gold medal winner and all that, Sir Chris Hoy, said something along the lines of how an independent Scotland wouldn't have the same access to facilities like velodromes and so on, then elements in the SNP say "Hoy's a jumped up English public schoolboy who should fuck off back to England".

A lesbian comedienne made a comment about the referendum campaign being "a lot of men in suits waffling", she gets called "A race traitor dyke who should fuck off to England".

The SNP have a very strong centralist ideology, taking powers away from the local councils, and creating new quangos, based in nationalist-voting areas, a reversal of previous Scottish Executive policies of distributing civil service jobs across the country. Taking powers away from local councils, and using it as a political weapon. Particularly against Labour-dominated local councils- e.g. Glasgow, Lanarkshire. They have historic socio-economic problems, relating to high unemployment/underemployment, and so, the services provided by local government are of much greater importance. The Council Tax freeze, directly attacks those services, and is used as a political weapon against the Labour party. Examples: Street cleansing/refuse uplifts. Used to be free uplifts, now there's 1 free uplift a year, of odd/large items such as beds, sofas. Because of council tax freeze, freezing the budgets of the council, and inflation, then there simply are not enough people and machines to be able to afford a free uplift of refuse. This reduction in services hurts the poorest people the most, and is used to score political points.

And yes, the SNP of past decades used to be called "The Tartan Tories".

The legalisation of gay marriage in England led to the creation of this image:

So I found this some time ago. It warmed my heart on a bad day and I think everyone should be at least a little inspired by it:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q9pOJ8Bc_-g - New Zealand Approves Same Sex Marriage. Skip to 0:48.

The song in question is Pokarekare Ana, a Maori love song composed by Maori Soldiers in WW1. I found that it's use here was particularly fitting.
