Automating that is relatively hard, as seen on Verite's map, though. Probably could develop some kind of a clustering algorithm for that, so that renter alliances could be guesstimated, assuming standings were available, because with the rule of "any connections between alliances" you'd probably end with a close approximation of a blue donut. So would need to take into account interconnectedness and seed groups with the leading alliances. I think at least some of the standings lists are public?
Coalition members can be found
here while many standings can be found
here. This is of course not a complete or totally accurate list as it requires manual updating (as well as the always complicated "who is actually in this coalition?") but it does allow for the creation of a relatively accurate map.
The map itself, I believe, is currently being updated manually rather than through any form of automation.
Edited to add:
By the way, the website the coalition data is fed from '
Dingo's Toolbox' has a whole raft of extremely useful tools for an FC, including a D-Scan analyzer, a local analyzer, a tool that gives you the expected fitting of a ship from a particular alliance and a guide to the terminology and equipment involved in Sov Warfare.
