So, I am thinking it is some script kiddie or maybe a contracted job. The kind of botnet this would take would have to be pretty established.  It seems unlikely that someone would burn a phishing/income net just to troll a video game.  So my money is on contracted job.

Does anyone have any thoughts?
A backdoor trojan was installed with the launcher update, everyone who has eve installed is part of the botnet.

This is getting ridiculous.

I have the feeling there's something CCP isnt telling us; down for 8 hours for an attack that ended last night? Nuh uh.

Er... I have a feeling you are trolling so I won't seriously respond to that.

This is getting ridiculous.

The attack likely only lasted a few minutes or even seconds before the plug was pulled.  The downtime is making sure it doesn't happen again, going through everything and making sure that a srs bot didn't get in.  And of course trying to backtrack the actual bots (which is pretty much impossible if the right steps are taken)
Talking with legal, and most importantly completely going over all their security.  line by line baby.

Look at it as if someone ran up on CCP, broke in and messed with there servers or ransacked their offices.  It is going to take a long time.

It is an attack.  A simple one, and relatively harmless but an attack.  To continue the analogy, if they broke into the building next time they could try to steal something or hurt people.   EWAR is serious business =/

Yes, I was making a joke about how bad the new launcher is.

FFS. Last night I had a skill ending in 12 hours. Server came up, I added a new one. Now it times out in about ~7 hours.

So, true story, it used to be about half the time, when they applied a patch, it would autocomplete whatever skill you were training regardless of how long you had left on it. Given how much else about this reminds me of the old days, I'm kind wishing I had a Capital skill training to 5 right now.
