So launcher patch day and my launcher wont even admit to finding the internet... I see on the forums that other have managed load the new launcher, somehow... not that its working much of the time.

and here I just wanted to login to chat with some people...

Seems like it's an issue with the patcher. I ran the repair tool and it fixed things up.

Some user settings disappear, apparently.

I logged in OK this morning but I didn't have to update my launcher to get in, oddly. And the new launcher's been working great for me on Singularity, so...

User settings should be okay at second run. (That's a bug in the launcher.)

However, the reason why stuff doesn't work is that the server the launcher is trying to connect to to check if the client is ok isn't responding. Since the repair tool is using the same server, for some the repair tool doesn't work either. For those who patched before the content server became overloaded everything went well - including Chribba, who offers a copy of the updated files here or torrent here. It should be possible to just copy those files over the client files and get things working by launching directly to the client via "exefile.exe" in the "bin" folder inside the EVE installation folder (default C:\Program Files\CCP\EVE). Naturally, since those are third-party supplied files, practice caution. Chribba himself posted those links, haven't noticed any Veldspar pr0n to seep on my computer yet.

Yeah, it does work now, but there's still an issue with it. As in, you log in via the launcher, and all your settings are down the tube. If you log in via the exe in the bin file, you retain all your settings.

The settings fix themselves after relogging.

If your settings don't fix themselves, just go to %APPDATA%/Roaming and find the EVE folder. Move your settings files from an older folder to one of the new ones the dumblauncher has created.

Thanks! This worked. Mine was in %appdata%/local but good to see it keeps a folder for each known installation of the client.
