Empire and Republic historical borders
« on: 02 May 2013, 12:02 »

I question for those more lore minded: What current Republic words were originally Imperial words, if any? Do we know how the Republic has dealt with the citizens on the worlds it's taken?

Are there any Republic worlds currently held by the Empire or the Mandate?

The star systems Pator, Arzad and Hror were settled by the Minmatar Empire (the predecessor state to the Minmatar Republic). It is well established that the Minmatar had 3 systems settled just prior to the meeting with the Amarr. Hror may not necessarily be one of them, but it is mentioned as being invaded just before the Rebellion (in Theodicy).

Everywhere else then, was logically an Imperial world.

After the establishment of the Republic, the two nations had cessation of hostilities. Did the Republic only claim three systems at that time?

I assumed that the Republic was larger than the original Minmatar Empire, and that the Amarr must have acknowledged that it held more than three systems.

I believe that the majority, but not all of the current Republic systems are former Imperial systems. A few are probably more recently colonized systems that had been owned by neither the original Minmatar Empire nor by the Amarr Empire.

Arzad is the only current Amarr system we have a definite on being originally Minmatar.

Beyond that, other PF-named systems include
- Ennur (Molden Heath, sight of a clash by Minmatar/Amarr fleets)
- Audesder (Molden Heath, originally Nefantar-owned, believed impossible for the rebellion to retake but one of the last systems captured by the fledgling Republic)
- Hjoramold (Molden Heath, site of Rebellion-era Nefantar government, "neighboring constellations" had been Nefantar/Amarr at one point as well)

It seems likely that large portions of modern Molden Heath and Metropolis were at one point controlled by the Empire and/or Nefantar forces. It's worth noting that Hjoramold is nowhere near the nearest (in terms of jumps) link between Metropolis and Molden Heath (and thus, quite far away from the current Mandate border as well).

I like the implications of Gallentians being punched in the face by walking up to a Minmatar as they so freely use another person's culture as a fad.
