Why's that ?

Because for a lot of people, Synthia is a character that is extremely difficult to take seriously most of the time.

Even, in theory, for a Ministry official whose job is to be super serious business all the time.

Morwen's Law:
1) The number of capsuleer women who are bisexual is greater than the number who are lesbian.
2) Most of the former group appear lesbian due to a lack of suitable male partners to go around.
3) The lack of suitable male partners can be summed up in most cases thusly: interested, worth the air they breathe, available; pick two.

Awww. How sweet.

Seriously though, I've often wondered. How does Synthia manage to come over as so nice when she's been educated by a self-obsessed philosophy like Sani Sabik? Unless she's sociopath nice and only putting it on to manipulate the marks.

Good question.
Synthia pretty much has 2 emotions, other than neutral.
Objective completed/satisfaction - Yaay
Objective failed/frustration - Boo

She probably has no concept of being mean to people, or would see it as counterproductive. And there are things in the Scriptures about the Proper way for a Righteous Lady to Behave.

Being Nice to People fulfils Objectives. Yaay.

It seems people are still unhappy about this character's mere existence, despite the various bits of PF used to justify and explain things.

Suggestions ?

Flip them off. Fire pistols into the air while doing lines of Crash off of exotic dancers (M/F.)

If they can't take a joke then they shouldn't ahve signed up (to EVE).

Personally I think Synthia is an interesting and amusing (if somewhat puzzling) take on the Sani Sabik. There must be room for her and more traditional alpha dominant types like Silas in the world?

Technology for artificial people exists already, I have just made a thread about it in the library forum.

So, I am at a loss to understand the objection that people have with Synthia's existence.

As far as I can tell, it's all explained and based on existing PF, so, what is the objection ?

Most likely a variant on they didn't think of it first?

Also, some players can be very conservative about lore. It's just there are many, many factions of conservative, all of whom disagree. Sometimes violently.

Synthia reminds me of Discworld's Death. Fairly observant about the surface facts of the world and human behavior, but doesn't have (and may not be capable of having) the experience necessary to make actual sense of it, so just follows things through to their literal-minded, "logical" conclusions.

"Synthia, that's... umm... not how it works..." is something that people have said on more than one occasion, heh.
