Over-sexualised IC behaviour
« on: 28 Apr 2010, 10:18 »

Is endemic.

Is good/bad?

Is plausible?

Discuss.

I'll be posting more detailed posts when time permits, but it is my view that the thread could take quite a fluid direction.

I'm not sure that it is, frankly, certainly in comparison to other MMORPGs. It happens, sure, and we seem to be on a kick lately here on this forum about it (which could lend credence the other way, I suppose).

Why don't you start by explaining why you think character behavior is over-sexualized.

I disagree? I guess, since there's no reasoning introduced thus far that it's simply a broad generalization.

Sex in EVE is regressive and obsolete, the by-product of primitive animalistic urges which ought to be ruthlessly and thoroughly weeded out of humanity along with the concept of gender itself.  :D

No, it's Katla. Vikarion actually had a NPC girlfriend once, you know. The first date was epic.  :D

Katla's less extreme than she used to be, though. At least openly. It must also be noted that she's known to be a hypocrite. >_>

Yes, I remember the blog entry he wrote about it.

And FWIW, I made that comment before seeing his post in the Lifestyle thread, as I recall discussions from around the time I belonged to the White Rose corp.

Mmm. As regards my "we should remove gender" arguments, I may have possibly been gently trolling those who I felt were being a bit too self-righteous and...well, annoying about "gender equality".  :bear:

I think Havo's relationship counts under the 'less so' column.  That comic was hilarious

I have gotten fed up with people using sex to sell products, whether that be cars, music or art, and have no interest trying to sell my RP using that element. It is simply too cheap and unoriginal for my taste. Now, if sex is used in a subtle way and not as the main point, that might be going somewhere.
