[mission texts]Balls, terrorists, slaves

The Governor's Ball

You are aware, no doubt, of the rumors of extremist antislavery terrorist groups within the Amarr Empire itself. Well, you know then that their loyalty to the Empire is indeed secondary to their overarching desire to see all slaves freed and made equal members of society. This is a condition that we, as the greatest state in all of New Eden, simply cannot tolerate. However, our efforts at arresting and reeducating those insurgents have largely failed to permanently change the mindsets of these rather fanatical individuals.

This system has been particularly hard hit by this and other like-minded groups. Most recently, an Anathema-class covert ops ship, specially configured to transport elite slaves to the estates of senior Amarr leaders in the region, was somehow decloaked, its weapons and sensors jammed, and ruthlessly attacked to the point of near-total structure failure. The terrorists then demanded the pilot transfer the slaves to this mystery ship, on threat of the total destruction of the covert ops vessel. The pilot complied, though he has since been punished for his cowardice.

It is for this reason that I called you here today. I need you to transport a new shipment of elite slaves to a nearby station for further transshipment to the residence of one of the regional governors. This shipment is of particular urgency as the governor is hosting his annual gala event at his estate, and the usual staff of slaves simply will not do. We need these specific slaves, as they have been trained in protocol, proper food and drink service, entertainment, and numerous other talents that I need not mention here.

Will you take on this courier mission on behalf of the Empire and deliver these highly trained and extremely expensive slaves to the designated station?

Amarr Anti-Slavery Terrorist Groups
While it might seem impossible at first glance, there are indeed small bands of terrorists who seek to upset the very core foundation of our society by working to eliminate slavery throughout the Empire. We have had significant success in disrupting these groups, with many members killed or taken prisoner. Nonetheless, like a hydra they continue to grow and adapt to our tactics and operations, making them a quite annoying thorn in our side. The Amarr Empire is devoting increasing resources to the eradication of these groups; however, even the most optimistic analysts concede that it may be quite some time before this nascent insurgency can be eradicated.

Conditioned House Slaves
These highly trained and expensive slaves undergo several years of conditioning and training prior to being sold or transferred into their duties, which most often include butler and maid duties at the homes of senior political or industrial leaders. These slaves are more highly valued than ordinary slaves and in return often receive decent treatment from their masters, as well as better-than-normal housing conditions and food.

* Seriphyn mutters something about it being an exercise in futility of trying to show a non-EBIL light of the Amarr Empire.

Incidentally, I came across something similar on the level 1 epic arc.

Tradition
Amarr society is popularly conceived as hierarchical and old-fashioned. True Amarr are thought to dominate all people they conquer, and treat their own people as little better than cattle. While that can be true in certain cases, the political realities of the Amarr Empire are far too complex to paint the Empire as a wholly evil power.
