Ni-Kunni
-Gives me a reason to say NI!
-They are literally everywhere. Apparently we're good merchants, craftsmen, etc so we've infiltrated every corner.
-You can go pro-Amarr or anti-Amarr and both sides are pretty easy to see the reasons why.
-Gives me a reason to reuse the Life of Brian joke "What have the Romans ever done for us!" (insert Amarr for Romans).
-Culturally they're a mixed bag. I tend to see them as Arabic/Indian/Persian and I've used some Sumerian linguistics in my stories. (Variety is good mmmkay)
-In with the Middle-Eastern theme, gives me a reason to watch belly dancing videos
. Plus the idea of Wind-Dancing and/or Sword Dancing is just cool.
-Pragmatism. Being that we were conquered a long...LONG time ago it seems like an easy mental leap to make most Ni-Kunni fairly adaptable and not very hot-headed.
-Spicy Food (and anything else that can be associated with the word spicy
)
Ultimately though, the Ni-Kunni have been touched on (not entirely bad touch so I don't need an adult) by CCP but not really carved in stone so there's A LOT of leeway when it comes to making your Ni-Kunni unique without Mary-sueing it up...too much. Plus I don't think there's a particular cause-du-jour for the Ni-Kunni so there's not a for/against trap to fall into.
... NI!
