Looks like you provide your own answer. "Why not use them?" "Because we don't know when this stuff happened, if it's happened yet, it's not necessarily common OOC knowledge since not nearly everybody cares about reading the books, and so on".

Is there any explicit gain in using the material? If you want to, go ahead -- I just don't see the point in lamenting TonyG's influence and then going out of the way to use his qriting that may be entirely unknown to others.

I haven't really lamented him. I liked the books though some bits mostly Jamyl in TEA did make me go wtf. After reading T-1 it did make a little more sense, but was still weird.

As to the why not use them I was referring to stuff still unrleased from TEA that could be known. Insorum being one of them. It's been a while since I've read it, but I'm sure there are others as well. As for the T-1 stuff I don't really know when they happened, but I can be pretty sure that when DUST releases they have.

For clarity's sake, that last bit was a general statement rather than applied to you particularly. It's a contradiction I see a lot.

RE: "You Don't Know That PF Yet" -- who gives two shits? Making and using player-made and accessible information is a lot less likely to cause hassle, and, honestly, is a lot less esoteric than much of the books' content. Compare "oh it's something that I think happened at some point through Templar One, but I may be misinterpreting" with "yeah, it's a news article someone wrote; wait there, I'll link it". PF is useful, but so is what players write that falls inside that PF.

Yeah I think I get what you're saying, but if Simca or Kat said "yeah we found records indicating that Otro may have been the one that gave Insorum to the Minmatar" how many people do you think would call us crazy on all sides? No matter how vague a reference we made it I dont see many people buying it. For two reasons 1) most people hate the books and dont really believe they exist short of what they cant do anything about such as Heth or Jamyl being in power, and 2) There's nothing to really back it up with so most people will fall back to point 1 saying 'tonyg is shit and fuck his books'

That's the point. People don't want to acknowledge the books -- so don't acknowledge the books. Write stuff inside PF that doesn't rely on them, and use that. Rather than getting hung up on a battle in such-and-such a system or so-and-so giving Insorum to someone-or-other, forget about that and work with other, more reliable information.

Templar One reveal, pre-Empyrean Age.

There's plenty more out there. Enough to push forward information, unrelated to "PF no one acknowledges". Use Templar One and TEA as guidelines, find the information in-game and on forums, and freakin' blow peoples' minds.

Who gives a flying rat's *** about psychic zombie queens, there's fun RP, corporate theft, espionage and pew-pew to be had (potentially).

Also, attend the Seyllin Conference*. Support player events. Freakin' blow CCP's collective minds, y'all.

Moar player events. If I get back to an active account, I'll try and do some stuff. Until then, I'll mostly be kicking about brainstorming ideas about how to solve the news issue while I let work quiet down some.
