I've been so disgusted with the Nex store that I haven't really been paying to much attention to the nuts and bolts of clothing, but maybe that's what's going on here? Is that stupidly expensive shirt more or less permanent?

More or less, yes - as I understand it, if they're in the cargo of a destroyed ship they're treated much like any other cargo. If your character is wearing them, however, they're preserved through all poddings, regardless of clone quality or anything like that.

Still doesn't excuse the price, IMO.

I like the implications of Gallentians being punched in the face by walking up to a Minmatar as they so freely use another person's culture as a fad.

BUT, they only appear on the clone that you put them on with. If you put it on with clone A, then JC to clone B, clone B will not be wearing the NeX item.

Morwen's Law:
1) The number of capsuleer women who are bisexual is greater than the number who are lesbian.
2) Most of the former group appear lesbian due to a lack of suitable male partners to go around.
3) The lack of suitable male partners can be summed up in most cases thusly: interested, worth the air they breathe, available; pick two.

And nobody will know for 18 months, because you'll need to recustomize the character to generate a new portrait as far as I've understood. (If you use the ship hangar view, the portrait is the only part where you'll see your character.)

Right. AFAIK you could even sell the clothing afterward and it would remain on your portrait, but I haven't tested that. I know for sure you're able to contract it to an alt and have them wear it too but I don't know how CCP would feel about that either.
