But come on.. I think it's pretty clear that for most of the ruling class religion is just a tool or a casual social event. They're hypocrites.

That's not to say that truly pious high class Amarrians don't exist, but they're likely quite rare. I'd say that makes playing one kind of more awesome, waxing all nostalgic about "the good old days when faith still meant something."

This is one of the things that pisses Jesmine off, as should be clarified by now - hypocritical non-pious double-standard 'I'll-treat-my-slaves-however-I-damn-well-please' so-called nobles (Holders, etc.) who speak the speak, but don't walk the walk, as they say.

And that is what is fun to my eyes, Bloodbird. We have grim dark and shades of grey, corrupted characters in every empire. I like that it is also the case in the Amarr Empire.

In anyway, even if the PF does not put the focus on the sacrifice for the Faith, lets not forget there is still a very important bit of scripture that talks about it :

"Zakara saw the danger to his brother, and did not hesitate; without weapon or armor, he hurled himself at the beast, attacking with his bare hands. Enraged, the beast turned and struck Zakara, opening a terrible wound in his side. Seizing the moment, Garum ran his sword through the beast's heart, thus ending the battle victorious. But Zakara, mortally wounded, cried out in pain. You sacrificed yourself for me,' Garum said, taking his hand.

"We are brothers,' Zakara answered, just before breathing his last. 'And in God we shall remain brothers for all of time." - The Scriptures, Saint Junip 10:25

    "Rejoice, o chosen of God"
For our blood fills this Valley of Death,
    Proclaiming our sacrifice to God,
And he shall raise it up for all time"
    - The Scriptures, Saint Junip 15:11

And as much as a character can consider the Scriptures as very litteral or very metaphorical/symbolic, in both cases there is something to do with sacrifice.

Also, lets not forget the Amarr Navy old doctrine, that was put in application in the defeat of Vak'Atioth, when the Navy commanders ordered to the fleet to fight to the last man, threatening to fire on "cowards" retreating or to make sure that their families are enslaved if they do not follow the tradition, much like japanese war doctrines in the WW2 (or before). Sacrifice for your God with honor and do not flee, or you will insult him and your ancestors forever.

Slaves can also reach enlightement through sacrifice if I am correct.

Grand Master Elata Ardo died because there was an unfortunate accident at the cloning facility where he was supposed to respawn to, after he was killed by a certain someone.

Just wondering where you're getting that.  8)

Yeah, as far as I know the (lame) explanation given for why the Tetrimon actors were attackable with no repercussions was that they had refused to use clones, and thus had "opted out" of CONCORD protection because of that.

Ditto.

Keep in mind that what might annoy one of my toons don't have to annoy *me*. I'm perfectly fine with there being corrupt individuals and organizations in all the Empires and beyond.

It makes the world interesting.

I don't even know how I came to confuse Jesmine with the player on this one. @_@
