I didn't really find Black Prophecy that entertaining.

I agree

Yup, same here.

I'm still dabbling in APB though, so if people ended up trying it out (since its free & in open beta right now) let me know. Right now I only have characters on the two EU servers (Crim/Obeya - Enforcer/Patriot), but got a free slot to make another thanks to the CB reward package -- so if people were playing on the US server I could roll one there. :) Either way I would say APB isn't the type of game that will ever be a "EVE replacement" but it is fun diversion and beats playing tanks (IMO). Just need a group of 2-3 people to play with (on voice) to make it a lot of fun. I think there is a small RP community there too. I'm playing it a bit regardless of what happens with my EVE plans.

If anyone wants to come and check out Champions Online, I'd be happy to help you level. I've got a level 40 Darkness/Bestial tanky DPS hero who's useful in almost all situations.

Perpetuum Online seems pretty cool. Unfortunately I lack irl iskies to afford to 10 dollar a month subscription. But if someone wanted to lend a hand with that...

Going to look at the trial personally, no idea if it will be worth sticking with though.

Tried it out for a while.

Game has potential, but it's basically EVE at launch: decent skeleton, no real content, lack of distinct balancing.

Very easy to abuse courier and industrial mission chains to make a shitload of money

Eh, I want a place that's got some decent gameplay mechanics and the potential for good RP. If its Eve at launch, well, eve did get good.

The 'eve online at launch' comparison is not particularly something in its favor.

The interface is clunky and inventory management is a tiresome affair. A healthy portion of its existing mechanics are also extrapolated straight out of EVE itself, except stuck on a linear planetary surface. I never explored deep enough into the wilderness to see if its open ended world (air quotes) had much going on for it, but as far as the trial took me I wasn't terribly impressed.

It's fun, but basically expect a learning curve similar to EVE's.

Does it have mechanics that support things like ninjaing, ganking, and can flipping, or spiritually similar activities?

As far as I'm aware, no. There was a PvP consent flag for anything that involved direct combat.

Cans are privately protected, it is possible to grief miners by strip mining their mission locations (which never change in the game world), but I think that griefing behavior can be banned.

Edit: I do not think the game heavily works on factional loyalty, despite the fact the game has three factions opposing each other. Could be wrong. If they did, there may be open world pvp - again something I never saw.

Dug this out of a GM on their forums

Report to a DEV or GM direct or by in-game email. Give the DEV or GM the exploit details please. At that point the DEVs or GMs will determine if it is an exploit.

Still follow the above after reading below.

As for griefing... This is a sandbox and griefing is part of the game. Of course we know you are beta testing, but so is the griefer.

This is no EVE successor.

There really is none.  What we need is a complete failure cascade, new management at CCP, and a reboot of the cluster.  Start from scratch, everyone get in a Rifter and make for nullsec.   :yar:
